Abstract

The study tested the explanatory model of intentions for divorce based on the theory of social exchange, theory of planned behavior by Ajzen and model of dissolution by Amato and Rogers. The 197 subjects participating in this study were wives who had filed for divorce at the religious courts in several districts and cities in South Sulawesi. The measuring tools of the study were divorce intention scale and marital relationship scale developed by the researcher based on theoretical constructs of each tested factor. The theoretical model developed was tested with analysis of Structural Equation Models (SEM). The results of the study revealed that the intentions of divorce could be explained by the strong effects of negative relationships such as domestic violence, infidelity and irresponsibility. It was also found that there were weak barriers to divorce and post-divorce expectation of a better life with new partner who could love them more. Indirect factor that contributed to divorce intention was level of education. These findings confirmed the explanatory models of divorce intention based on social exchange theory, planned behavior theory, and the suggested Amato and Rogers’ divorce models.

Abstract

This study aimed to assess the effect of spousal support on job satisfaction of working mothers moderated by work-family conflict. The characteristics of the subjects of this study were (1) living with a partner and children under 12 years old and (2) working full-time. This research used four variables: job satisfaction, husband’s support, work- family conflict, family-work conflict. Based on the results of analysis using structural equation model for the variables of husband’s support, work-family conflict, family-work conflict and job satisfaction, chi-square scored 0.070 with p = 0.791. Based on the predetermined criteria, the chi-square scored with p>0.05, GFI≥0.90, AGFI≥0.90. The analysis revealed that the results of the fittingness test had met the criteria. Based on these results it can be concluded that the hypothesis of this study is accepted, showing that husband’s support has effect on job satisfaction mediated by work-family conflict in a working mother.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to empirically examine the effects of recommendation and credibility of information on consumer’s regret over the decision regarding purchase opportunity. Post - decisional emotion was measured in terms of five aspects of consumer’s regret consisting of feeling, thought, action tendencies, actions, and emotional goal. Purchase recommendation was specified into two experimental conditions, namely recommendation and no recommendation, which signification and inaction tendencies in consumer decision making. The credibility of information was meant as a recommendation by expert and non-expert. A 2 X 2 factorial design was employed to test the hypotheses. The results demonstrated that consumer’s regret was affected by the type of recommendation and credibility of the information. The highest level of regret was observed in the subjects who received no recommendation and expert condition, followed by no recommendation and non-expert, recommendation and expert, and recommendation and non-expert. The result of analysis also revealed that the credibility of info rmation significantly influenced the types of consumer responses. This result goes with any existing consumer behavior literature, and warns marketers that strategy of giving price discount can backfire when consumer is disappointed.

Abstract

A mother’s success of lactation depends on her self-management. This study aimed to reveal the contribution of self-awareness (introspection and observation) and self-determination (competency and autonomy) as self-management factors to a lactating mother’s well-being (self-actualization and positive mood). The subjects of this study were 100 mothers who had been breastfeeding for at least six weeks. A structured model was designed with self-awareness as an independent variable to dependent variable of well-being, and as an antecedent variable to self-determination affecting the dependent variable of well-being. Likert scale instruments were used. The data obtained from the questionnaires were analyzed using Structural Equation Modelling program. The models fitting the requirements showed that self-awareness had direct and indirect effects through self-determination on well-being, with a total effect of 0.924. It could be concluded that the success of lactation achieved through the self-management has a strong influence on well-being.
