Abstract

This study is a quasi experimental research with factorial design 2×3.This study aims to test the effectiveness of the use of group investigation model with interactive CD in the course of analisis real toward students initial ability. This research was conducted at STKIP PGRI Pacitan in 2016. Data analysis techniques is two way ANOVA. The research finding is the student learning achievement using group investigation with interactive CD is better than the student learning achievement using group investigation with paper task. Furthermore, the student learning achievement from the high group of initial ability and the middle group of initial ability are better than the student learning achievement of the lower group of initial ability. But between the high group of initial ability and the middle group of initial ability, the student learning achievement is not significantly different.

Abstract

We are a research team who explore the application of quartet card game to enhance students’ proficiency in mastering descriptive text. We conducted the research through a classroom action research frame work. We got students of Class X of SMK Pringkuku Pacitan in the academic year 2016-2017 as our research subject. In our research, we explore the effect of quartet card game to increase students’ writing proficiency and motivation in writing descriptive text. Overall, we got the fact that quartet card game could increase both of them In this article, we present two aspect of the students’ writing proficiency. First, it is the ability to develop ideas. Second, it is the ability to build coherence. We got the data from: students writing score. In the students’ ability to develop ideas in writing descriptive text, we got the fact that the application of quartet game could give effect to students as follow: 1).Students could get creative idea, 2).Students could develop idea in every paragraph, 3).The situational idea based on descriptive text character is easy to be got by students, 4).Students could limit their ideas into descriptive text demand, so it does not exist the case of out of context ideas, 5).The content is informative to present descriptive text, 6).The quality of descriptive text is very interesting for readers. In the students’ ability to build coherence in writing descriptive text, we got the fact that the application of quartet game gives effect as follow: 1).The ideas were presented in a well coherence story, 2).The use of cohesion technique to correlate ideas to one another, 3).The arrangement seems to be prepared very well, 4).The organizations of story make readers to be able to understand the text story easily, 4).The structure of texts follows the generic structure of descriptive text or genre.

Abstract

This research is a quantitative research that is aimed to describe the parenting styles which applied by parents, the students personality types, and the students emotional quotient of STKIP PGRI Pacitan. The sample was taken by accidental random sampling methods. The number of respondent are 152 students from various department at STKIP PGRI Pacitan. The data is analyzed descriptively. The research finding are: (1) generally the democratic parenting styles of parents is the dominant one that is 52,63%. The permisif styles has a 30,92% and the otoriter style are 16,45%. This general inclination is also happen on each department. (2) generally the personality types on each category is equivalent. The rational type is 29,61%, the idealis type is 27,63%, the guardian type is 21,71%, and the artisan type is 21,05%. Yet if it’s seen on each department, the personality type of student is vary. (3) generally the emotional quotient of respondent is equivalent. The high emotional quotient is 32,24%, the medium emotional quotient is 34,21%, and the low emotional quotient is 33,55%.

Abstract

This study is aimed to find out the strategies used by the lecturer in increasing students’ listening comprehension. The researchers used descriptive qualitative research design. The data were collected through observation and interview. The observation was implemented on the teaching listening class during May to June 2017. The respondents were the students of listening class STKIP PGRI PACITAN grade 1. Some students randomly were being inteviewed by the researchers. Besides, the data are also found by reading the theories related to listening skill. Finally, after having been collected, researchers reduce the data, displaying the data and elaborating the result and gaining the conclusion. The result shows that lecturer’ strategies in overcoming listening problems faced by students are implemented in these three stages: pre listening, while listening, and post-listening. Pre listening consists of explaining the purpose of listening, looking at visual aids, recognizing vocabularies of the listening text, activating background knowledge, activating topic knowledge, giving motivation to the students, and preparing good conducive situation. While listening consists of activities listening with visual, predicting the content of the listening text. listening for the gist (general understanding) or specific information, filling in blanks of a transcript of a passage with the words missing, sequencing, total physical response, detecting the differences between the passage and the general knowledge, matching items, following a route on a map and repeating the material recorded. While post listening consists of summarizing and reviewing to encourage discussion, giving extended responses, setting students to work in pair to create the dialogues based on the listening passage and peer teaching.

Abstract

This study is a class action research that aims to improve learning motivation and learning achievement of students in the subject of the calculus. The study was conducted in two cycles with the following results. Learning achievement results obtained in the first cycle that only 14 students or 17.07% that scored at least 70 of all students and obtained an average score of students learning motivation questionnaire is at high category that is at score 48 (scale 15-75). The results of the second cycle obtained an average score of students learning motivation questionnaire is 50, which means at the high category as well as an improvement in terms of learning achievement that there are 56 students or 68.29% that scored at least 70 of all students so that indicators of success has been achieved.
