Abstract

This study attempts to investigate the impact of Payment for Environmental Services (PES) on the socioeconomic status of local life. The socio-economic status examined is the total household expenditure to measure the level of nutritional welfare of people living in the area where the PES project is implemented. Not only total household expenditure, but also checking the poverty status of each household in the PES project area. The PES project areas analyzed are villages around Meru Betiri National Park, East Java and Segara Lake, Lombok. This study uses the Social Economy National Surveys (SUSENAS) by Central Beureu from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), before and after the implementation of two PES implementation projects to examine the effect of PES in each location and the two sites combined. To discuss the impact of PES, this study uses the Difference-in-Difference method and also combines Propensity Score Matching to get better results. it was found that statistically, PES projects had little significant impact on the socioeconomic status of local livelihoods. However, when viewed from the magnitude of the effect coefficient, the evidence shows that PES has positively affected local life. Furthermore, the effects of PES projects differ between each location.

Abstract

Poverty and human development are big problems in the Madura region. The HDI of the four districts in the region is the lowest in East Java, and more than 21.46% of the population lives in poverty. On the other hand, the potential of the creative economy in this area is very potential, such as tourism development, agriculture, crafts, culinary, and performing arts. However, limited access to finance for business development makes the development of the creative economy slow. Therefore, innovation is needed, especially in terms of financing to support the economy in this region. Optimization of BUMDes with a sharia investment system (Village Sharia Investment System) is a new financing solution for the community and has the potential to be developed in the Madura area. The main purpose of writing this scientific paper is to provide a normative description of the potential of the village sharia investment system as a supporting system for the creative economy in the Madura region. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method to provide an overview of the object of research. The data used is secondary data with literature study techniques as a data collection tool. The result of this research is a village sharia investment system platform that has the potential to be developed in the Madura area and can be an economic booster. The conclusion obtained is that the concept of the village sharia investment system is able to encourage the economy of East Java by developing Madura as a potential economic area through a creative economy based on village sharia investment system financing.

Abstract

This research was conducted to see how access to clean water in the people of Surabaya and the impact of poor access to clean water on productivity. 70% of Surabaya's community water sources come from PDAM water, while the rest comes from ground water through wells, but in the poor only 54% use tap water. Poor access to clean water can cause illness, especially diarrhea. With the Two Way ANOVA analysis it was proven that there was a significant difference in the onset of diarrhea with clean water sources for bathing / washing and community groups based on income. Diarrhea causes loss of work time resulting in a decrease in productivity. The average lost workday is 3.7 days with a loss of productivity losses of Rp1,041,400 obtained by dividing Surabaya's GDP estimates in 2014 with the workforce. Based on the prevalence of diarrhea 1.2%, the total loss due to poor access to clean water for bathing / washing in Surabaya's GDP is known at Rp1,640,003,100,000.

Abstract

In this paper we attempt to analyze effects of fiscal and monetary policy on output, inflation and interest rates in Indonesia using Structural Vector Autoregression (SVAR) for the period 2001:1 – 2017:3. We follow Blanchard and Perotti (2002) methodology to identify the structural shocks and analyze the transmission mechanisms of fiscal and monetary policy on economic activity. The estimation results show that expansionary fiscal policy through increase in government spending are found to have relatively small (though positive) effect on output. Moreover, the increase in government spending lead to relatively higher inflation and interest rate. A tax shock, which is mean the contractionary fiscal policy, give negative effect on the output but turn into positive effect after one year. A shock in interest rate follow by decrease in inflation, which is accordance with Taylor Rule. Overall, the empirical result indicate the less potent fiscal policy to stimulate output in short-time period while putting upward pressure on inflation and nominal interest rate.
