Abstract

Low students’ learning outcomes are related to many factors. Confidence, parents’ attention, and classmate's interactions are among them. This study aims to determine whether there are positive and significant relations between confidences, parents’ attention, classmate interactions, and mathematics learning outcomes of grade VIII students of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Yogyakarta in the even semester of the academic year of 2016/2017. The population in this study were regular grade VIII students of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Yogyakarta in 2016/2017, consisting of four classes with the total number of 115 students. Random sampling technique was applied to take the sample of this research, which is grade VIII students class C. The data on confidences, parents' attention, and classmate interactions were obtained through questionnaires. At the same time, the data of the mathematics learning outcomes were obtained through the test. The research instruments were tested using a validity test, differential test, and reliability test. Analysis prerequisite test includes normality, linearity, and independence test. Product moment and multiple linear regression analyses were used to analyze the data. The results show that there are positive and significant relations between confidence, parents' attention, and classmate interactions with mathematics learning outcomes of grade VIII students of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Yogyakarta in the even semester of the academic year of 2016/2017. The results are evidence in Fcount  Ftable which is 8,251 > 2,975 with R = 0,976 and R2 = 0.952 with , with RC = , RC =  and RC = 30,934 , EC = , EC =  and EC = .

Abstract

The low student learning outcomes are caused by several factors, one of which the learning model used in the less varied and is still centered on the teacher. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using a cooperative learning model course review horey type to the mathematics learning result of grade VIII. The population in this study were all students of class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Pundong regency Academic Year 2016/2017, which consists of 8 classes. The sampling technique using a random sampling technique to the class and selected class VIII C as an experimental class and class VIII F as a control class. The data was collected using the test method. Tests using Instrument validity, reliability, and distinguishing power. Data analysis techniques used for prerequisite analysis tests include a normality test and a homogeneity test. The hypothesis to test in this study used a two-party t-test and a one-party t-test with a significant level of 5%. Based on mathematics learning result obtained that 1)  and  which means . This means that there is a difference in learning outcomes between the learning of mathematics using cooperative learning model type course review horey with mathematics learning using a direct learning model on the students of VII SMP Negeri 1 Pundong in even semester regency Academic Year 2016/2017. 2)  and  which means . This shows that the learning of mathematics with cooperative learning model type course review horey is more effective than the mathematics learning using direct learning model towards mathematics learning outcomes in VIII grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Pundong in even semester regency academic year 2016/2017.

Abstract

Students were demanded to get a good mark on each subject; nevertheless, their teamwork learning skills were lack asked to participate in the learning process. This research had the aim to improve the students' mathematics teamwork learning skills using the model of cooperative learning CRH. This research was a type of classroom action research. Subjects of research were the student's VII D grades of SMP Negeri 11 Yogyakarta on even semester in the academic year of 2016/2017. The object of research was mathematics teamwork learning skills using the model of cooperative learning CRH. The data collecting technique consisted of an interview, observation, triangulation, and test. The instrument of the research consisted of observation sheets and interview guides. This research was conducted in two cycles. The cycle was stopped after the result of the indicator was reached out to a minimum of 61% or good criteria. The research results showed that the model of cooperative learning CRH could improve VII D grades students' mathematics teamwork learning skills. It was proved that there was an increase in every cycle from the result of observation analysis toward students. In cycle 1, the percentage of students' teamwork learning skills reached out 50 % in enough criteria. Then, cycle II increased to be 69,93 % in good criteria. It means that there was an increase of 19,93 %. Based on the result of the interview with the students, it also showed that there was a positive response from the students.

Abstract

This study was conducted because the students learning activities of seventh-grade students in SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Prambanan academic year 2016/2017 in the learning of mathematics are still lacking. This study aims to increase the students' learning activities in mathematics learning by using the cooperative learning model of Numbered Heads Together (NHT) type on students class VII in SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Prambanan on Even Semester in Academic Year 2016/2017. This study is a classroom action research—the setting using VII B class with number 34 students. The study was conducted two cycles by using a cooperative learning model of Numbered Heads Together (NHT) type. Each cycle is consisting of 2 meetings. Methods of data collection using observation, interview, documentation, and triangulation. Instrument analysis using content validity. The analysis used is descriptive qualitative. The results of this study showed that learning by using cooperative learning model Numbered Heads Together (NHT) type can increase student learning activities in learning mathematics on students class VII in SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Prambanan on even Semester in academic year 2016/2017. These things proven from the observation of student learning activities in learning each cycle has increased. The average observation percentage of student learning activity in cycle I is 51,17% with enough criterion, and in the cycle, II increased to 70,88% with good criterion. The results of interviews with students showed a positive response to student learning activities.

Abstract

The results of students' mathematics learning associated with many factors. Learning interest, learning independent, and learning facilities at home is factors that may be related to mathematics learning outcomes of students. This study aims to determine whether or not a positive and significant relationship between learning interest, learning independent learning facilities at home with mathematics learning outcomes in students class VIII at SMP Muhammadiyah Pakem Sleman on the even semester of the academic year 2016/2017.The population in this study was all eighth-grade students at SMP Muhammadiyah Pakem Sleman on even semester of the academic year 2016/2017 which consists of 4 classes with a total of 152 students as a sample class was class VIII A, which includes of 37 students using a random sampling technique to the class. Methods of data collection used questionnaires and tests—the instruments using validity, reliability testing, and different test power. Test requirements analysis was used the normality test, the independent test, and the linearity test. Data analysis for hypothesis testing used correlation analysis and linear regression analysis. The results showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between the learning interest (X1), learning independent (X2), and learning facilities at home (X3) with mathematics learning outcomes with  means  with R = 0,7114 and R2 = 0,5061 with , and RC(X1) = 34,4358 %, RC(X2)= 36,4429 %, and RC(X3)= 29,1214 %, EC(X1) = 17,4279 %, EC(X2) = 18,4437 %, and EC(X3)= 14,7383 %.

Abstract

Exciting and Innovative Learning and Student enthusiasm can influence to the student learning outcomes. This thesis aims to know whether there is a difference between the results of mathematics learning using a cooperative learning model for Make a match and Talking stick type. Then, it also aims to know which learning model is more effective between the cooperative learning model for Make a match type and Talking stick type to the mathematic learning outcomes of the seven-grade student of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Gamping at Even Semester in 2016/2017 Academic Year. The type of this research is included in experimental research. The populations in this research are all seven grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Gamping at Sleman Regency in the 2016/2017 academic year, consisting of three classes with the total number of students 108. This research sample is seven-grade student A as the experimental class I, seven-grade student B as the experimental class II and seven-grade student C as the test class. Purposive sampling technique is used as a sample selection. The research instrument is a test of mathematic learning outcomes in the form of multiple-choice questions. Instrument test includes validity test, different ability test, and reliability test. The data analysis technique used in this research is a prerequisite analysis test consisting of normality test and homogeneity test. Hypothesis test uses a t-one side test and a t-two side test. The result of the research shows that the t-two side test with 5% significances and 67 degrees of freedom achieves the value of = 0,2278 and = 1,99601. It means that there is no difference between the value of mathematic learning outcomes of the student using a cooperative learning model for Make a match type and Talking stick type.

Abstract

Based on the observations at the time at SMP Muhammadiyah Depok Sleman Regency, the anxiety of facing the students ‘mathematics subjects is still high. This can be seen from the students’ attitude that is restless, afraid, worried, anxious, nervous, tense when told that there will be a daily test, pretest And posttest math lessons, as well as some poor parental concerns that are based on some parents who not come to school to take care of education issues. This study aims to determine whether or not there is a significant relationship between the anxiety of facing mathematics students and attention of parents of VIII class at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Depok Sleman Semester Even semester In Academic Year 2016/2017. This study population is all the student's VIII Class of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Depok semester of academic year 2016/2017. It is taken in VIII B Class as the sample of research class with a random sampling technique to the class. Data collection techniques in the form of test techniques and questionnaires. The research instrument test uses validity tests, different power tests, and reliability tests. Test prerequisite analysis includes a normality test, independent test, linearity test. Analysis of data for hypothesis testing using correlation analysis and linear regression analysis.  The results showed that there was no negative and significant relationship between anxiety facing mathematics subjects with mathematics learning result, with r = -0,0081, there is a positive and significant correlation between the attention of parents with the results of learning mathematics, with r = 0,6093, and there is a significant relationship between the anxiety of facing mathematics subjects and the attention of parents with the results of learning mathematics, with so that . Relative contribution of X1 = , X2 = 99,746%, and effective contribution X1 = %, X2 = %. This indicates that the attention of parents (X2) has a greater relationship with mathematics learning outcomes than with anxiety facing Mathematics subjects (X1) with mathematics learning outcomes.

Abstract

Limited teaching materials are one of the problems that affect the achievement of learning objectives. Teaching materials that can help the student to learn independently is a module. This research is development research that aims to produce Mathematics Module of Social Arithmetic by using a Scientific Approach for Student of Grade VII SMP/ MTs ( Junior High School) and to know the module quality that developed and worthy of use in Mathematics learning. This research uses Research and Development developed by identifying the potential and problem, collect the information, designing the product, validation of product design, revise product design, product trial stage, and revise the product. The subject in this research and development of the module are material experts, media experts, and students. The Mathematics Module, using the scientific approach, is developed based on five learning steps: observing, questioning, collecting information, reasoning, and communicating. This product has been through the revision step based on the suggestion and feedback from media experts, material experts, and student's responses to the module. The result of the research shows that the Mathematics Module of Social Arithmetic, using the Scientific Approach for Student of Grade VII SMP/ MTs (Junior High School), has good quality from criteria of validity. Based on the assessment from material experts obtained an average score of 96,67, which fulfills the criteria very good. From media, experts obtained average score 69, which fulfills the criteria well, and the student's response showed that the quality of the module is excellent, with an average score of 86,29. Based on the research, the Mathematics Module of Social Arithmetic using the Scientific Approach for Student VII Grade of SMP/ MTs( Junior High School) is worthy of use in Mathematics Learning.

Abstract

The concept is a crucial thing in learning activities, but the importance is not only in the concept itself, but it depends on how students can understand the concept. The lack of a student's ability to use the concepts for problem-solving causes low student learning outcomes. The purpose of this research to determine the effect of the AIR learning model (Auditory Intellectual Repetition) toward the student learning outcomes in the SMP Negeri 1 Yogyakarta, especially in class VIII and in Even Semester in Academic Year of 2016/2017. The population in this research was the students of class VIII A, VIII B, and VIII C SMP Negeri 1 Yogyakarta in 2016/2017, the total amounted to 103 students. Samples were taken by two classes using the Random Sampling technique for the class, and obtained class VIII B as control class and class VIII C as experiment class. Data collecting techniques used are interview and test methods. The instrument testing uses validity test, normality test, and different power test. The data analysis technique used for the prerequisite test is the normality test with Chi-Square and homogeneity test with the Barlett test formula. As for the hypothesis test using the t-test. The results of this research show that, at a significance level 5%, obtained the conclusion that (1) there is an influence between the results of learning mathematics students using the AIR learning model and students using the STAD learning model. It shows by using the result and thus  (2) learning by the AIR model can create the result of the learning better than learning by using STAD model. It shows by the result and thus .

Abstract

The misconception is a condition where a student has a misunderstanding in comprehending a particular concept of what is meant to be. It raised when a student was gaining a new concept, namely in learning math, specifically in algebra operation. To know the misconceptions can be detected by using the Certainty of Response Index (CRI). This study aims to know the students' misconceptions and their causes in algebra operation of the 8th grade of SMP N 2 Bantul. This study is qualitative research. The subject of the study is the 8th grade of class C in SMP N 2 Bantul 2016/2017. The object of the study is the student's misconceptions in algebra operation. The data collection technique is in the form of a test based on the CRI and an interview. The data analysis used reduction, data presentation, and data inversion and verification. The results show that 53% of the students know the concept of algebra operation, 20% of the students only guesting, 15% do not know the concept, and 12% have misconceptions. Within the 12%, the misconceptions can be mention as follows (1) in the concept of formulating simple algebra and fraction algebra into its factors; (2) in the concept of the operation of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in the form of simple algebra and fraction algebra. The causes of this misconceptions are (1a) the student's low comprehension, (1b) the student's incomplete information, (1c) the student's low motivation to learn is not fully understood yet; (2a) the wrong intuition or opinion, (2b) The student's cognitive condition that remains in concrete.
