Abstract

Assessment of Various Fertilizer Recommendation on Growth, Yield Components, and Yield of Inpari 1 Rice Variety. Integrated fertilizer application to new high yielding variety (HYV) and irrigation technology give largest contribution to rice production with supports of good practices and pest and disease control (IPM). Therefore, an assessment on wetland rice production with four fertilizer recommendation such as : package, ICM, NPK+LCC and PuPS (Site Specific Fertilizing on Rice). It was used Randomized Block Design with four replications were conducted in Tanjung Sari village, Pondok Salam subdistrict, Purwakarta district, in dry season 2009. The objectives were to obtain the best fertilizer recommendation on growth, yield components, and yield of Inpari 1 rice variety. The results showed that fertilizer recommendation of NPK+LCC significantly affected plant height, number of tiller, and number panicles per hill of Inpari 1 variety, while number of total grains per panicle, filled grain number per panicle, 1000 grain weight, and dry grain yield were not affected by fertilizer recommendation (Package, ICM, NPK+LCC, and PuPS). Fertilizer recommendation of NPK+LCC increased yield of 0.84 t/ha compared that to package recommendation.

Abstract

The influence of meteorological factors on the rice pests flight that catched in the lighttraps of mercury lamp and CFL. Research was carried out in the 2013 at the experimentalgarden of Sukamandi, Indonesian Center for Rice Research (ICRR). Pests were catched in thelight traps of mercury lamp ML 160 watt and CFL 20 watt, while the meteorological data wascollected from a meteorological cage closed 200 m of the light trap. The objectives of thisresearch was to analyze the influence of meteorological factors on the pests flights as basicllyfor early warning system, forecasting and pests dispersal. The results showed that themeteorological factors such as evaporation, wind velocity, light intensity, air temperature, relative humidity, rainfall, and soil temperature at 0 cm were correlated one to anothers. Themeteorological factors had insignificant effect to pests flight of rice yellow stem borer, ricepink stem borer, rice black bug, and brown planthopper that catched in the lihgt trap ofmercury lamp and CFL. Evaporation and soil temperature at 0 cm had significant positiveinfluence while relative humidity had significant negative influence on the flight of leaf folderthat catched in the lihgt trap of mercury lamp. In the lihgt trap of CFL bulbs, the flight of leaffolder had significant positive influenced by air temperature and soil temperature at 0 cm,while had significant negative influenced by relative humidity and rainfall.

Abstract

The Use of Aglaophenia sp. Marine Biota Extract to Control Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. vanillae, a Pathogen of Vanilla Stem Rot The use of marine biota for organic fungicide material has enormous potential to be developed. The organic fungicide was directed to substitute synthetic fungicide for vanilla cultivation. Application of synthetic fungicide degraded environmental quality, therefore its applications does not support sustainable agriculture. The objective of this research was to know the potence of Aglaopheniain suppressing the growth of F. oxysporum f. sp.vanillae, the pathogen of vanilla stem rot. The research was done in green house in order to find the best substance for formulation of the extract. The substances screened were water, tween-80, and detergents with two different concentrations. Subsequently, two best formulas were chosen to apply in endemic area in Tabanan. The green house and field trial research used Randomized Completely Design with three and five replications respectively. Results showed that tween was the best substance used for formulation and concentration of 0.2% was better than other concentrations. The extract diluted in tween-80 on the concentration of 0.2% showed the lowest rot on stem, longest shoot, and the most leaves on vanilla shoot. Because of its significant performance, the 0.1% extract ofAglaopheniain 0.1% tween-80 was proposed to be the best formula to suppress the vanilla stem rot disease.

Abstract

The Effect of Feed (Onion Leaves) on the Event of Color Polymorphism on Larvae Spodoptera exigua HUBNER (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae). Color polymorphism is a form of color difference that appears morphologically and genetically in the same insect species. The existence of these changes in shape has to do with the defense mechanism of the species concerned for disguise, avoiding natural enemies and adjusting to the new environment. The occurrence of color polymorphism is often found in S. exigua larvae that attack the onion crop in the field. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of the quality and quantity of feed (onion) on the color changes of S. exigua larvae. This research was carried out in the laboratory using adaptation test method and comparative test with randomized block design. The results of the study show that decreasing the quality and quantity of feed (onion) encourages color changes from green to dark. In addition, green to dark color changes are also triggered by the developmental phase of the larvae. The development of larvae from the 3rd instar phase has shown symptoms of color change from green to dark even though the quantity and quality of the food is fulfilled.
