Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Baitul Maal wat Tamwil (BMT) as an Islamic Microfinance Institution (IMFI) in supporting the sustainability of poverty alleviation in Indonesia. The analysis highlights the strategic function of BMT in empowering microeconomic activities based on Islamic principles, especially for the poor and micro-entrepreneurs who are underserved by conventional financial institutions. Using a literature review approach and synthesis of empirical findings from various studies, this research concludes that BMT significantly contributes to increasing household income, expanding access to Islamic financing, and fostering community-based economic development. However, the sustainability of BMT’s role depends heavily on sharia compliance, technological innovation, and institutional governance quality. Therefore, collaboration between government, BMT, and zakat institutions is essential to optimize the socio-economic impact. This study recommends strengthening human resources, digitalizing services, and conducting periodic evaluations to ensure the effectiveness and sustainability of Islamic microfinance in alleviating poverty.

Abstract

This research aims to determine how financial digitalization, interest, and exchange rates affect the money supply in Indonesia for the long term and in the short term. The data used in this research is secondary data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) and Bank Indonesia. The analytical method used in this research is the Error Correction Model (ECM), by determining the degree of confidence of 95 percent. This research indicates that, partially, the e-money, debit, interest rate, and exchange rate variables significantly affect the money supply in the long term. In contrast, debit and exchange rates have a considerable positive effect, while e-money and interest rates have a negative significant impact. In the short term, debit and exchange rate variables positively affect the money supply.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of environmentally oriented marketing on environmentally friendly purchasing behavior, with green consumption as a mediating variable. The research subjects are consumers of The Body Shop in Padang City, West Sumatra. A quantitative approach was employed, with data collected through questionnaires distributed to 145 respondents. The data were analyzed using SmartPLSsoftware. The findings indicate that environmentally friendly marketing has a positive and significant effect on both green consumption and environmentally friendly purchasing behavior. Furthermore, green consumption also has a positive effect on environmentally friendly purchasing behavior and mediates the relationship between environmentally friendly marketing and purchasing behavior. The study reveals four main points: (1) green consumption positively influences environmentally friendly purchasing behavior, (2) environmentally oriented marketing strategies have a positive effect on environmentally friendly purchasing behavior, (3) environmentally friendly marketing directly impacts purchasing decisions, and (4) green consumption acts as a mediator. The practical implications of this research highlight the importance for companies, particularly in the beauty and personal care sector, to integrate sustainability messages into their marketing strategies in order to encourage more environmentally conscious consumption and purchasing behavior.

Abstract

The Israeli attack on the refugee camp in Rafah on May 26, 2024 gave rise to a campaign with the slogan “All Eyes on Rafah” and also encouraged people to join the BDS Movement against Israeli-affiliated companies. This study aims to analyze the differences in abnormal return and trading volume activity caused by the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) Movement in Israeli-affiliated companies in the Indonesian Sharia Stock Index after the All Eyes on Rafah campaign. Based on signaling theory, an event can cause positive or negative reactions that will cause market reactions. Research with quantitative methods and event study approaches uses secondary data analyzed through the wilcoxon signed rank test processed with SPSS version 27 and Microsoft Excel. The analysis resulted in no significant difference in abnormal returns before and after the event but the market reacted negatively. trading volume activity has a significant difference between before and after the event.

Abstract

This study analyzes the impact of non-cash payment systems and the linkage between unemployment and inflation in Indonesia over the short run and long run. The transition from cash to non-cash transactions, driven by the Gerakan Nasional Non Tunai (GNNT) since 2014, requires an evaluation of its implications for economic stability. Based on monthly time series observations from January 2009 to August 2024, the variables examined include inflation as the dependent variable and the value of debit/ATM card transactions, credit card transactions, and the unemployment rate as independent variables. The analytical method employed is the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). The findings reveal that in the short run, only credit card transactions have a positive and significant effect on inflation, while the other variables do not. Conversely, in the long run, all variables-debit/ATM card transactions, credit card transactions, electronic money, and the unemployment rate-exhibit a positive and significant impact. These results highlight that the digitalization of payment systems stimulates consumption and aggregate demand, thereby contributing to inflation dynamics, particularly in the long run. Accordingly, monetary and fiscal policies must be adjusted to safeguard price stability.

Abstract

This study examines a comparative analysis of the mechanisms of novation, cession, and hawalah in take-over financing practices from the perspectives of the Indonesian Civil Code (KUH Perdata) and the Compilation of Sharia Economic Law (KHES). The main focus is directed toward analyzing profit and loss from three dimensions: economic, administrative, and sharia compliance. Methodologically, this research employs a normative legal approach using statutory and conceptual analyses, supported by secondary data sources such as regulations, DSN-MUI fatwas, academic literature, and doctrines of contract law. The findings indicate that economically, novation and cession offer flexibility and potential benefits for financial institutions because they allow rapid restructuring or transfer of receivables. However, both mechanisms may impose additional financial burdens and potential value imbalances on debtors. Administratively, novation and cession have the advantage of stronger legal certainty due to their execution through authentic deeds, whereas hawalah is more efficient and simpler to implement but has weaknesses in terms of formal evidentiary strength. From a sharia perspective, hawalah is considered the most compliant with principles of justice and propriety because it does not contain elements of riba or gharar, thereby better reflecting the value of ta'awun (mutual assistance).
