Abstract

Speaking skills are the ability to understand ideas and read comprehension accurately. Because speaking is not a simple activity as is currently thought to be done by many people, therefore there must be a special interest in learning Arabic, especially in Islamic boarding schools because it is basically a communication tool.The research questions for this research are: (1) How is the implementation of the Arabic language class program at PPP.Walisongo Cukir Jombang? (2) how to improve the speaking skills of female students at PPP.Walisongo Cukir Jombang? (3) What are the motivations and obstacles to the Arabic language class program at PPP.Walisongo Cukir Jombang? Here, the researcher used the qualitative approach, meaning the descriptive analytical method, and the method of collecting data through direct observation, interviews, and documentation. As for the results of the research presented by the researcher, they are: (1) Arabic speaking skills are an education provided by the Department and attended by all female students in class programs and at school, which is held every Saturday, Sunday and Monday. This education really gives enthusiasm to students. speaking ability. (2) The method of memorizing vocabulary is used first and is immediately practiced every day and sometimes the teacher also shows a video in Arabic and follows it together, then the students practice the update individually, the teacher then signals one of the students to come forward. forward and then read while introducing his friend while listening, which can later be practiced in everyday life. (3) Motivation: What makes them enthusiastic about learning are the male and female lecturers who come from outside the boarding school. Obstacles: that we face when speaking Arabic. Because the environment at PPP Walisongo doesn't only have Arabic language programs but there are English language programs, memorizing the Koran, so we only speak Arabic with friends from the same complex.

Abstract

This article aims to examine reading skills, which are one of the language skills taught to students in learning Arabic. Reading is translating written letters into meaning or giving meaning to printed words. This is a dual process. In tenth grade, students learn reading skills while teaching Arabic every Wednesday and Thursday at seven to eight. This learning has a big impact on students in their daily life at Islamic boarding schools and cannot be separated from the study of heritage books. The research questions for this study are: (1) How is Arabic language teaching implemented for class X students at Misykat Al Anwar Islamic High School Jombang? (2) How do reading skills improve in class X at Misykat Al Anwar Islamic High School Jombang? (3) What are the motivations and obstacles in implementing Arabic language learning in class 10 of Misykat Al Anwar Islamic High School Jombang? This research method is qualitative research with a descriptive approach. This type of research uses case study research. Data collection through observation, interviews and documentation. The data in this research was analyzed by means of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Researchers try to verify the validity of the data by expanding research and triangulation (sources, techniques and time).

Abstract

This quantitative research aims to determine the initial ability, student learning outcomes in Arabic language subjects and the relationship of initial ability to Arabic learning outcomes of 11th grade students at MAN Binjai. Data obtained from the sample (n=30) were collected using observation and documentation studies, then analyzed using inferential statistical analysis techniques, namely simple linear regression tests. The results of inferential analysis of X and Y variable data show that the correlation value between X and Y variables is 0.435, which means it is included in the moderate category. Furthermore, the coefficient of determination is 0.160 or 16%. Which means that X can explain Y by 16% and the rest is influenced by other variables. While the significance value is 0.016 < alpha = 0.05. This shows that there is a significant influence between variable X and variable Y. Thus, based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that students' initial ability has a positive and significant effect on students' Arabic learning outcomes in grade 11 MAN Binjai.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of Qur’anic reading habits on the maḥārah qirā’ah (Arabic reading skills) of students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyyah (MI) in Menteng, Medan. The background of this research is grounded in the importance of reading proficiency in Arabic language education, along with the limited number of quantitative studies that link religious habits with students’ linguistic achievement. This research employs a quantitative correlational approach. Data were collected through a questionnaire measuring Qur’anic reading habits and a qirā’ah test assessed using a rubric that evaluated aspects such as articulation (makhraj), reading accuracy, fluency, and vocabulary mastery (mufradāt). A purposive sample of 30 MI students was selected. The results of the validity and reliability tests confirmed that the instruments used were both valid and reliable. The Spearman correlation analysis revealed a coefficient of rs = 0.8055 with a p-value < 0.01, indicating a very strong and statistically significant relationship between Qur’anic reading habits and maḥārah qirā’ah. These findings suggest that regular engagement with Qur’anic reading contributes not only to students' spiritual growth but also positively influences their Arabic reading proficiency. This study offers meaningful insights for the development of Arabic language teaching strategies that are integrated with religious practices.

Abstract

This study examines the phenomenon of tashgīr in the Qur'an from morphological and semantic perspectives, aiming to understand the forms and meanings embedded in the use of tashgīr within the sacred text. Tashgīr, as a feature of ilmu sharaf (Arabic morphology), functions not only as a grammatical device to express diminutiveness but also as a rhetorical and emotional element that enriches the Qur'anic message. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method with a linguistic approach. Primary data consists of Qur'anic verses containing tashgīr, while secondary data is drawn from classical works of tafsir, nahwu, and sharaf. The results reveal that tashgīr in the Qur'an serves multiple semantic functions, including: (1) diminutive physical size (e.g., ذَرَّةٍ, ٱلۡجُودِیِّ), (2) reduction of sin magnitude (اللَّمَمَ), (3) expression of affection (بُنَيّ), (4) enhancement of rhetorical effect within narratives (ٱلۡأَبۡوَٟبَ, كِتَابَهُۥ), and (5) reinforcement of moral and spiritual messages (رَجُلَيْنِ, شَيْخًا). Interpretations by classical scholars indicate that tashgīr is perceived holistically in the Qur'an—not merely as a morphological process, but as a linguistic strategy imbued with theological and emotional significance. Thus, this study underscores the importance of mastering ilmu sharaf and semantic context to enrich Qur'anic interpretation.

Abstract

Although much research has been conducted on plans involving MoU memorandums of understanding between countries, there is still very little research discussing the benefits of MoU memorandums of understanding for Arabic language learning in higher education. Therefore, this research aims to see the effectiveness of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Indonesia and developed countries in the economic (technological) sector on Arabic language learning in higher education. This research is included in qualitative research with a bibliographic type (reviewing literature and analyzing relevant topics). Data collection techniques use secondary data indirectly by examining related objects. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive qualitative methods in the form of written sentences and concluding the results based on previous research. The results of the research show that the effectiveness of MOU for Arabic language learning in higher education is in the form of digitalization of Arabic language learning, iconic Arabic language education majors, Arabic language as a patent curriculum, opportunities for self-development for a career on the world stage. Apart from that, the research results also show that there is an impact of the memorandum of understanding on Arabic language learning in universities in the form of a shift in interest from Arabic language learners, foreign languages becoming local content in universities, Indonesia's dependence on foreign products in facilitating Arabic language learning, misuse of technology (changes in norms and immoral acts). This research implies the importance of Arabic language educators as facilitators who continue to monitor the progress of learning in the classroom, as well as the government as a policy maker to be aware of the conveniences provided by outside parties so that they are not complacent.

Abstract

In general universities, in accordance with Law No. 12 of 2012 Article 35 paragraph 5, it is mandatory to include courses based on Law No. 12 of 2012 Article 35 paragraph 3, including Religion, Pancasila, Citizenship, and Indonesian. In the courses that have been determined based on the law, it is stated that Arabic is not included in the general compulsory courses that must be present in general universities. The problem is that general universities have general compulsory courses on Religion but there are no compulsory courses on Arabic, even though Arabic can be said to be a religious language. Based on this problem, this research needs to be done. The focus of this research is to discuss student motivation to learn Arabic and a descriptive explanation related to whether Arabic is a religious language. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive analytical research method. Data collection uses observation, interviews, and documentation. The analysis used in this study uses analysis according to Miles and Huberman. The results of this study indicate that the majority of students at public universities have very limited Arabic language proficiency. Another factor contributing to the motivational crisis in learning Arabic is the lack of regulations at public universities regarding the mandatory study of Arabic, which is a religious language. Arabic and religion are interconnected and complement each other. Learning Arabic makes us Muslims who can understand and implement Islamic teachings properly and correctly.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of Arabic language learning management in improving students' language skills at Madrasah Aliyah Aisyah (junior high school level). This research used a qualitative approach with a case study method, focusing on the Arabic language learning process at the school. Data were collected through interviews with Arabic language teachers, observations of the learning process, and analysis of curriculum documents and teaching materials. The results indicate that effective learning management, which includes thorough planning, the use of diverse methods, and systematic evaluation, has a positive impact on improving students' language skills. Furthermore, the use of engaging learning media and a contextual approach enriches students' learning experiences. This study concludes that organized and innovative Arabic language learning management plays a significant role in improving students' language competencies at Madrasah Aliyah Aisyah, making it a model worthy of emulation by other educational institutions in managing foreign language teaching.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of using Quizlet-based learning media on students’ learning outcomes in the Arabic subject “Al-Hiwayat” (Hobbies) for Grade VIII at SMP Islam An-Nizam Medan. This research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group. Data were collected through learning outcome tests administered before (pretest) and after (posttest) the implementation of Quizlet. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS, including tests of validity (content validity and construct validity via Pearson correlation), reliability (Cronbach’s Alpha ≥0.7), normality (Kolmogorov-Smirnov or Shapiro-Wilk test), homogeneity (Levene’s test), and paired sample t-test with a significance level of p < 0.05. Additionally, the N-Gain Score was analyzed to measure the effectiveness of the learning improvement. The results showed a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores after using Quizlet, indicating that this medium effectively enhances students’ learning outcomes in the “Al-Hawayat” material. The research results indicate that the use of Quizlet significantly improves students' learning outcomes in Arabic subjects, particularly in the topic of 'hobbies'.

Abstract

This study examines the use of the direct method in teaching maharah kalam (speaking skills) at SMP Pondok Pesantren Tahfizh Al-Qur’an Darul Qolam Binjai, focusing on its implementation, strengths, and weaknesses. Using a descriptive qualitative case study approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The participants were students involved in the maharah kalam program, with the focus on how the direct method was applied in instruction. Findings show that the method encourages active Arabic speaking, boosts students’ confidence, and supports contextual learning. Its advantages include enhancing speaking and listening skills, increasing motivation, and fitting the pesantren environment. However, challenges include the need for skilled teachers, difficulties for beginners, limited instructional time, and a lack of technological support. Improving this method’s effectiveness requires better teacher training and innovative learning strategies.
