Abstract

Lemuru fish is one of fishery commodity that has high economical value and one of fish that most catched by fisherman in Bali Strait. Lemuru fish had been caught in Bali Strait was fluctuating every month and every years. This condition was related with food source of Lemuru fish such as phytoplankton and zooplankton. So this research was conducted to explained the relationship phytoplankton and zooplankton abundance with Lemuru fish catched in Bali strait. This study focus in Bali strait during March until May 2017. Determination of sampling point used area sampling method while water sampling occured in surface water with pouring method. Total of phytoplankton and zooplankton abundance in Bali strait in March until May had formed the sinusoidal model with their abundance ranged 301 ind/L – 604 ind/L and 7 ind/L – 12 ind/L. Plankton abundance in Bali strait in March until May (transisonal season 1) was categorized low abundance if compared with plankton abundance in another season. The low value of phytoplankton abundance caused by non upwelling phenomenon and grazing process and the low abundance of zooplankton caused by low rate of zooplankton and predation by Lemuru fish. Phytoplankton and zooplankton abundance had strong relationship with Lemuru fish catched with correlation coefficient value 0.76 and 0.69. This condition caused by phytoplankton and zooplankton are source of Lemuru fish food.

Abstract

This study objectives were to investigate the track of shark trade from Bali Province, the exports volume of shark trade during 2015-2016, the length of sharks; species exported in the ETP category; and the effectiveness of shark trade license by BPSPL Denpasar based on EAFM analysis. This study used exploration method with questionnaires, interviews and secondary data from BPSPL Denpasar. The results showed that the track of shark trade started from when the shark is caught by the fishermen which purchased by exporter companies, then they had to get shipment recommendation letter from BPSPL Denpasar and fish health certificate from BKIPM Class I Denpasar, then sharks was brought to I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport for final check and ready to be exported to the destination country. During 2015-2016 there were 559 sharks from the species of Carcharhinus melanopterus, Triaenodon obesus, Orectolobus maculatus, Atelomycterus marmoratus, Chiloscyllium plagiosum and Halaelurus maculosus that have been exported to the 12 destination countries. The EAFM analysis of lengths indicated that the shark's size was at a very young until adult age. Meanwhile, the EAFM analysis of ETP species shows there were 4 shark types of Near Threatened, 1 type of Least Concern status and 1 type of Not Evaluated. Finally the result of EAFM analysis on the effectiveness of shark trade license by BPSPL Denpasar showed that the decision was well executed and run effectively, and so far the shark fishery management at Bali Province is applied successfully.

Abstract

Mackerel fish that classified pelagic fish and an export commodity in Indonesia. Distribution of mackerel fish are foundn all Indonesian waters, one of them in the Bali Strait. Distribution of mackerel fish influenced by oceanographic condition such as sea surface temperature (SST) and chlorophyll-a concentration. SST and chlorophyll-a concentrations are environmental parameters that can provide information on fishing ground. The purpose of this research is explained the temporal fluctuation and relationship between SST and chlorophyll-a concentration with mackerel fish had been catch in Bali Strait waters during 2011-2016. Data were analyzed using simple correlation analysis with 95% confidence interval. Temporally, the highest average SST occurred during the transition season I (March-May) and the lowest in the east season (June-August). The highest average chlorophyll-a concentration occurs in the east season and the lowest in the west season (December-February). The highest catch of mackerel fish occurred during transitional season II (September-November) and lowest in west season. The association between SST and chlorophyll-a concentration on mackerel fish catch showed low correlation with significant relationship, whereas concentration between SST and chlorophyll-a concentration strong with significant correlation

Abstract

The ecosystem of mangroves and seagrass in Mertasari Beach are located nearby and and inhabited with various species that coexist, One of the association’s creature in mangrove ecosystem and seagrass ecosystem is crab. There were a habitat selection of crabs, so it does possible to find the same species in the mangrove ecosystem and seagrass ecosystem. This research aims to know the type, abundance and diversity of crabs in the Mertasari Beach on two different ecosystems such as mangrove and seagrass ecosystem. The research were conducted in January until February 2017. In this research the Random sampling method was used to create a 1x1m2 square placed on 5 substations at each research station. Crab sampling was conducted at the lowest tide and has been done twice in a month. The results showed there were 7 families with 20 species. In both ecosystem were found 3 spesies such as Scylla serrata, Grapsus albolineatus and Myomenippe fornasinii. This happens because of several factors, like the tidal and the flow of the river into habitat removal by crabs. The highest abundance of crabs was found in mangrove stations of 411 individuals/m2, while at the seagrass station were 93 individuals/m2 due to food availability and environmental conditions. The highest value diversity index (H) at mangrove station was 1.94 and seagrass station of 1.73 with moderate category indicated in those area had sufficient productivity, conditions of the ecosystem is pretty balanced and moderate ecological pressure.

Abstract

Mangrove ecosystem is a complex ecosystem. The sustainability of fish resources is highly dependent on the sustainability of the mangrove ecosystem. The purpose of this research is to know the mangrove density, fish catching from fisherman in mangrove area and relationship of mangrove vegetation and the quality of the waters with the fish catching in the mangrove. Data collections include mangrove condition, fish catching, and water environment parameter. Research conducted in the mangrove area Mina Werdhi Batulumbang (TP I) and Simbar Segara (TP II). The results of this study found 5 species of mangrove. The density values of species at research site I ranged between 0.02 ind / m2 - 0.08 ind / m2. While the density value of species in this research site II ranged between 0.01 ind / m2 - 0.07 ind / m2. Rhizophora mucronata type has the highest density. Fish catching is the largest average in research place I, that is 1.42 kg /day /fisherman with mangrove area 2,397 Ha and the research of site II shows that the fish production of fisherman catches of 0,8 kg / day / fisherman with mangrove area 1,986 Ha. There is a positive relationship between the density and area of mangrove with the number of fish catching, where the fish catching will increase when the mangrove area also increases and there is a strong relationship between the catch and dissolved oxygen.

Abstract

Epiphelic diatoms are the living diatoms adhere to the bottom substrate of the waters. Epiphelic diatoms ware used as bioindicators because sensivity of enviromental change, widely distributed, and ware not affected by currents. Epiphelic diatom research as a bioindicator of pollution in the Suwung estuary was conducted in December 2016 and January 2017. The sampling of epiphelic diatom using the method of "Lens tissue trapping method". The results of research in December 2016 found 34 species of epiphelic diatoms, while in January 2017 found 24 species of epiphelic diatom. Species that are often found in this study are Pleurosigma clavei, Rhabdonema arcuatum, Synedra gailloni and Gomphonema angustatum. The highst of epipelic diatom abundance in estuari suwung in January 2017 was 8.82 Ind/and the lowest epiphelic diatom abundance of 0.41 Ind/. The assessment of contamination using epiphelic diatom using two methods such as diversity index and saprobik index. The pollution assessment based on the diversity index shows that in December 2016 it was varied, not contaminated, mildly polluted, moderately polluted while the saprobic index-based valuation was varied ie clean, moderately polluted and heavily polluted. Assessment of pollution with saprobik index is used to know the contamination of organic matter. Diversity index in January 2017 and the saprobic index had the same pattern that almost of station research in Suwung estuary research stations were moderately polluted and there was an increase in pollution

Abstract

The mangrove ecosystem is one of the objects that can be identified by using remote sensing technology. The geographical location of the mangrove ecosystem located in the land and sea transition areas provides a distinctive recording effect when compared to other land vegetation objects. Remote sensing information about vegetation density is useful for various needs such as estimation of the availability of wood fuel biomass, succession stages, forest degradation and so on. This study aims to map the mangrove density using NDVI mangrove vegetation index from Landsat 8 image in Estuari Perancak, Jembrana, Bali. The study was conducted on August 20, 2016 until August 25, 2016. The analysis used is correlation analysis and t-Test analysis. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the density class was rare, medium and tight. The density class rarely has a pixel value range from 0.4765 to 0.6128, the medium density class has a pixel value range of 0.6128 to 0.7093, and the dense or dense density has a pixel value range of 0.7093 to 0.7947. The dominant mangrove species is Rhizopora sp. The linear regression equation in the above figure shows y = 0.679x + 0.438 and with the correlation (r) of 0.9642. This means that the density of mangroves and NDVI is directly proportional. Where the higher the value of mangrove density, the higher the value of NDVI and reserve.
