Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the shelf-life of loloh piduh packed in two different packages that is packed in plastic bottle and glass bottle. Both packed loloh piduh was stored in four temperatures, namely 15oC, 35oC 45oC 55oC. The observed parameters were pH and four sensory parameters using preference test. The sensory parameters consisted of sour taste, sweet taste, sour aroma, alcohol aroma, and turbidity. This research was conducted in 12 hours or up to 50 percent of the panelists rejected the test sample and observation was taken every two hour. The results showed that the critical quality parameters of loloh piduh packed in plastic bottles and glass bottles was sour aroma which followed zero order of kinetics reaction. Predicted shelf-life of loloh piduh packed in plastic bottles which stored at room temperature (28oC) was 9.82 hour, while the shelf life of loloh piduh packed in glass bottles that stored at the same temperature was 12.81 hours.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to find the content of macro nutrients and micro household waste which is varied with rice hulls in bio composter or bioreactor garden bag. The windrow system composting method was used in this study. Household organic waste material act ed as a source of nitrogen and rice hulls as a carbon source or as a bulking agent so that C: N ratio of material meets the composting requirements. Analysis results of several parameters of household organic waste material and rice hulls i.e.moisture content (%): 76. 29 and 9.48, organic matter (%): 98.17 and 77.92, pH: 4.32 and 6.56, Salinity (mS / cm):4.03 and 0.21, C: N ratio: 15.72 and 112.57, total N (%): 0.87 and 3.81, fat content (% BB): 13.27 and 9.48, vitamin C (mg /100 g):65.11 and 92.99 for each ingredient respectively. Analysis of macro and micro nutrient parameters of organic household waste and rice husk material showed that each material was suitable for composting. The temperature observed from day 2 to day 14. Thermophilic phase was achieved on the 2nd day of com posting which the temperature reached 43 OC after the acclimation process. The 55 OC of optimum temperature achieved ed on the day 9 ~10 of composting and then decreased the temperature over the next day, the observations made for 14 days to see the dynamics of temperature changes from the thermophilic stage to the mesophilic stage

Abstract

The high production of potatoes in Indonesia is not balanced with proper post - harvest handling, so many potatoes are damaged during storage. Packaging with perforations can maintain the shelf life of potato tubers. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of packaging perforation on the quality of consumption potatoes during storage and determine treatments that can maintain the quality of consumption potatoes during storage. Research with a completely randomized design (CRD) with packaging perfo ration treatment (0.42%, 0.63%, and 0.84%). Each experimental unit was repeated 3 times. The parameters measured were weight loss, air humidity, air temperature, color difference, and texture of potato tubers. The rate of increase in weight loss for the co ntrol treatment, packaging without perforation, 0.42% perforated packaging, 0.36% perforated packaging, and 0.84% perforated packaging were respectively: 0.09 g/day, 0.025 g/day, 0.036 g/day, 0.051 g/day, 0.058 g/day. The rate of change in air humidity for each treatment was: 0.10%, 0.36%, 0.30%, 0.23%, 0.16%, and the rate of change in packaging temperature was: 0.03 o C/day, 0.056 o C/day, 0.020 o C/day, 0.026 o C/day and 0.033 o C/day. The color difference change rates for each treatment were: 0.24/day, 0.36/day, 0 .26/day, 0.27/day, and 0.23/day. The rates of change in texture of each treatment were: 0.13 /day, and 0.53 N/day, 0.65 N/day, 0.53 N/day, 0.56 N/day and 0.63 N /day. Oxygen adequacy is a parameter determining the quality of stored potato tubers, so the be st treatment is 0,84% perforated packaging with a weight loss value of 8,77%, humidity 69.8%, temperature change 28.8 o C, color difference 6.95, texture 63,4 N

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find aerial photoraphy acquisition altitude with the best quality image The acquisition of aerial photography done by drones. Altitude of aerial photography acquisition were 10m, 20m and 30m. aerial photos taken a image of ciherang rice varieties with the age of 100 days after planting. Detailed analysis of aerial photography was done by zooming and image binary. Zooming process was used Adobe Photoshop CS6 software. binary imagery process was used MatLab Software 2013 software. 10m acquisition altitudehas the best quality of detail.

Abstract

The aims of this research were to measure the employees level of understanding on Integrated Management System (IMS) implementation, to analyze employees performances, and to determine the effect of IMS implementation on employees performances in canned pineapple company. Measured IMS implementation (X) aspect include customer (X 1), food safety and halal (X 2), safety and health (X 3), environmental (X 4), and law (X5). Meanwhile, measure demployees performances (Y) include clear thinking (Y1), collaboration (Y2), creative and courage (Y3), expertise (Y4), and external focus (Y5). This research used survey methodology involving 346 respondents who selected by using stratified random sampling methodology. Each of variables was determined by five indicators with five level measurement scale. The result showed that the avarage level of employee understanding on IMS implementation was 4,33 which means understand and the average employees performances was 4,18 which means good. The IMS implementation has positive and signifiant effect on employees performances. The effect of IMS implementation on employees clear thinking was showed by multiple linear regression Y1= 0,364X1+ 0,264X2+ 0,146X3+ 0,205X5(R2= 0,992), on employee collaboration is showed by equation Y2= 0,302X1+ 0,187X2+ 0,264X3+ 0,233X4(R2= 0,993),on employee creative and courage is showed by equation Y3= 0,268X1+0,299X2+ 0,209X3+0,215X4(R2= 0,992), on employee expertise is showed by equation Y4= 0,315X1+ 0,418X2+0,191X3(R2= 0,990), and on employee external focus is showed by equation Y5= 0,379X1+0,375X2+ 0,194X3(R2= 0,989).

Abstract

Tea is a popular drink and is in great demand by Indonesians as well as in the world. One type of tea is herbal tea, which is made from various leaves, seeds and plant roots. Tabah bamboo leaf tea (Gigantochloa nigrociliata BuseKurz) is an example of herbal tea that is processed to utilize the compounds contained in the tabah bamboo leaves to produce its own character. The storage at the right temperature can maintain the character of the tabah bamboo leaf tea (Gigantochloa nigrociliata Buse-Kurz). This research was carried out to determine the proper storage temperature of tabah bamboo leaf tea during storage with packs of papersack from different temperature treatments for 6 weeks. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) which consisted of two factors, the first factor used was storage temperature and the second factor was storage time. The first factor consists of two types of temperature, namely : a temperature of 10°C and a temperature of 30°C. The second factor consists of 6 levels, namely 1 week storage time, 2 weeks storage time, 3 weeks storage time, 4 weeks storage time, 5 storage time weeks and 6 weeks of storage. The parameters observed in this study consisted of chemical analysis including moisture content, pH, total acid, total phenol, flavonoids and organoleptic tests consisting of the color of the brewed water, aroma and taste of the brewed tea leaves. The results showed that the storage temperature of 10°C could better maintain the characteristics of bamboo leaf tea during the storage time of 6 weeks, namely with a phenol content of 114.466 mg / 100g and a flavonoid content of 27.675 mg / 100g.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to study the effect of various concentrations of beeswax in the baseemulsion of 0.5% sesame oil and 0.5% lemongrass oil on the quality of Arumanis mango fruits duringstorage at room temperature (26-32oC). This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) withvarious concentrations of beeswax, namely 0% as control, 1%, 2% and 3%. Quality parameters measured were physical-chemical changes consisting of weight loss, spoilage intencity, hardness, total soluble solids and total acidity, as well as sensory parameters were evaluated by 10 panelists on the preferences of aroma, color, flavor and texture of the fruit flesh. The results showed that the coating of Arumanis with different concentrations of beeswax significantly affected the quality changes during storage of the fruit at the room temperature. Coating the fruit with a concentration of 2% beeswax gave the best result in slowing the physical changes and provided the best values of the sensory preferences on aroma, color, flavor and texture of the fruit flesh during the storage of coated fruit.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the cyclic time that could give the best quality of the results of chrysanthemum. The treatment of this research was additional LED red light in the cyclic manner with different cycle time. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive analysis and the variables observed were grouped into 2 groups such as : production and quality of chrysanthemum. The result showed that the highest production and the best quality of chrysanthemum were obtained on the treatment of additional LED red light with five cycles. The production of the chrysanthemum was 85.83 cm, the amount of flowers was 23.67 of flowers, and in a quality manner of flower area was 52,96 cm2. The more the cycles that had given on the addition of LED red light, the better the results of production and quality of chrysanthemum.

Abstract

Mangosteen is one of the horticultural products that easily damages and has a relatively short shelf-life. The abilities of the mixed of APSA 80 and sesame (Sesamun indicum L.) with different concentrations as coting materials to maintain the quality and extend the self-life of mangosteen fruits were tested during storage. The main objective was to find the best mixed showed that the mixed concentrations of 0.06% APSA 80 and 0.5 % sesame oil, as well as the mixed concentrations of 0.06% APSA 80 and 1.0 % sesame oil were the best coating materials to maintain quality concentrations of the APSA 80 and Sesame oil as coating material for mangosteen fruits. Sesame oil is known to be the most resistant to rancidity because it contains natural antioxidants and high oleic acid. APSA 80 is as a spreader and gluing the mixed material and as an emulsifier. The experimental design used in this study was a Completely Randomized Design with three factors, namely the concentration of APSA 80 (0%, 0.03%, and 0.06%), the concentration of sesame oil (0%, 0.5%, 1%) and storage temperatures (28 ± 2oC and 10 ± 1oC). The result and extend the self-life ofmangosteen fruits. The both formulations of the coatings maintain the self life for 25 days at where the colorsof the arils were snowy white, the color of skin surfaces were redish purple, and the pericarps were not yet hardenings.

Abstract

Elephant dung is rich in cellulose and lignin. Elephant dung has a color that varies from greenish to blackish, depending on the food consumed (Mathew & Mary, 2015). Meanwhile, elephant dung has not been used much. Therefore, elephant dung has not been fully utilized. elephant dung has not been fully utilized. Composting is an option to make elephant dung more useful. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the addition of EM-4 bioactivator on temperature, pH, moisture content, C / N ratio, organic matter produced and to determine the concentration of the EM-4 bioactivator solution which produces the best quality compost from elephant dung and in accordance with Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 19-7030-2004). This study used a completely randomized design (CRD). The treatment used 50 kg of elephant dung for one treatment and each concentration of EM-4 0 ml (control), 50 ml, 100 ml and 150 ml. The four treatments were repeated 2 times in order to obtain 8 experimental units. Observation parameters include compost temperature, pH, moisture content, organic matter, carbon, nitrogen, C / N ratio. The results of composting elephant dung with EM-4 solution for 2 months, it can be seen that the addition of EM-4 solution has an effect on temperature, water content, C / N ratio and organic matter while pH does not show a significant effect. In the treatment of adding 150 ml of EM-4 to 50 kg of elephant manure, the temperature reached thermophilic on day 28, namely 46.1 ͦC, C / N ratio 19.63 and 35% organic matter. All treatments comply with SNI 19-7030-2004.
