We propose a modified OFDM modulation based on multiband scheme for visible light communications (VLC) system. The method called catenated-OFDM VLC system can efficiently boost the propagation distance and combat multipath induced the inter symbol interference and inter carrier interference. Design parameters such as number of optical bands, input power, distance and data rate are varied to see their effect on the system performances. Simulation analysis is done using Optisys software Ver. 11.0. The results show that the proposed system offers a good performance at longer transmission distance of 12 m for input power of 2 dBm in case of Band=3 with 10 Gbps data rate. BER curves also indicates that the proposed system can be operated at very high data rate of 15 Gbps. This exhibits the ability of the proposed system to be one of the candidate for future optical wireless communication system.

This paper present the design of a circular patch microstrip antenna with enhancement in terms of bandwidth and gain using a dielectric double negative (DNG) split ring metamaterial radome. This radome is positioned on top of the CP antenna operating from 5.2 GHz to 6.4 GHz. The metamaterial radome comprises of two alternate split rings of negative permittivity, permeability and refractive index. The circular microstrip antenna bandwidth of 430 MHz has been realized by the presence of DNG metamaterial radome compared to 220 MHz without the radome. The gain has been increased as well from 1.84 dBi to 3.87 dBi.

This paper has introduced the concept of UWB antenna in array arrangements. The four elements of Balance Antipodal Vivaldi Antenna (BAVA) has been used for planar and H-plane array configuration in this research. Each single element of BAVA Antenna is printed on the glass-reinforced epoxy laminate material (FR4) along an overall thickness of 1.57mm and εr=4.3 respectively. The optimized measurement of each particular element is 60.75mm x 66mm approximatel. Further the parametric evaluation of four BAVA elements in different planes has been observed in this paper. The placement of array elements has almost coverd entire UWB frequency range and appropriate reflection coefficient which is better than -10dB has been established in both combinations. According to simulation results, the array elements in planar arrangement presenting a suitable reflection and works well at 3.2GHz frequency while the arrangement in H-plane the array elements works well at 7GHz of frequency. In planar arrangement, the operating frequency of antenna elements is shifting as results of the distance among inter elements which increase in wavelength. In H-plane arrangement an antenna elements generate additional gain up to 10.2 dB with good radiation patterns as compared to the planar plane. The CSTMWS simulation software has been used for antenna structural design and parametric verification.

The main objective of this paper to determine multipath and time-varying channel behaviour of short-terrestrial millimetre-wave point-to-point radio links. In an attempt to invigorate the impact of rain attenuation on mm-wave channel parameters such as the RMS delay spread, path loss received power strength and Rician distribution with a K factor. A brief analysis of rain fading was presented based on the simultaneous measurement of one-minute rain rate and its effects on a short experimental link of 38 GHz. Rain fade average is observed as high as 16 dB for 300 m path at about 125 mm/hr rain intensity. The statistical spatial channel mode (SSCM) simulation software was utilized for an operating frequency of 38 GHz. To generate of power delay profile (PDP). For both omnidirectional and directional antenna. The RMS delay spread and path loss has been estimated using the environmental parameters of Kuala Lumpur city which illustrates the theoretical performances of 5G in Malaysia. It is observed that RMS delay spread, path loss received power strength and K factor effected dramatically by rain fade. (SSCM) simulation software has to be modified to consider rain fade dynamic characteristics to achieve ultra-reliability requirements of outdoor applications in the tropical regions. This study is important for understanding signal propagation phenomena in short distance and enabling the utilization of the millimetre wave band for an urban micro-cellular environment for 5G communication system.

Improving voice quality over wireless communication becomes a demanding feature for social media apps like facebook, whatsapp and other communication channels. Voice-over-internet protocol (VoIP) helps us to make quick telephone calls over the internet. It includes various mechanism which are signaling, controlling and transport layer. Over wireless links, packet loss and high transmission delay damage voice quality. Here VoIP quality will be measured by three main elements which are signaling protocol, audio codec and transport layer. To improve the overall voice quality, we need to combine these three elements properly to get the best score. Otherwise perceptual speech quality will not be the right tool to measure the voice quality. Here we will use Mean Opinion Score (MOS) for calculated jitter values and end to end delay. At the end, best combination of audio codec & signaling protocol produced the quality speech.

The African continent is ranked second most populated region and has a huge amount of natural resources to be locally transformed or outsourced overseas. The traditional telecommunications system has helped connect people and enabled them to manage their businesses and trading in Africa for a long-time; many African countries have embarked early in changing their network and technology systems during the first years of the information age. Over a few decades ago, the introduction of new telecommunication methods and techniques have influenced much of African countries’ growth via different perspectives. The situation has triggered an enormous interest in people. They analyzed the factors supporting such changes, which in the case of this paper is all about the advent and adoption of LTE/4G-LTE technologies including its service commercialization in Africa. This review article attempts to provide an overview of 4G-LTE networks technologies and the internet; it includes the current evolution of telecommunication networks within and even beyond the African continent, assisted by the 4G-LTE expansion. An extended view is provided throughout this article’s development with respect to what could be expected (or is missing) for the sake of this continent’s telecommunication infrastructure enhancement and a better QoS to Africa’s dwellers.

Social Networks have known an important evolution in the last few years. These structures, made up of individuals who are tied by one or more specific types of interdependency, constitute the window for members to express their opinions and thoughts by sending posts to their own walls or others' timelines. Actually, when a content arrives, it's located on the top of the timeline pushing away older messages. This situation causes a permanent competition over visibility among subscribers who jump on opponents to promote conflict. Our study presents this competition as a non-cooperative game; each source has to choose frequencies which assure its visibility. We model it, exploring the theory of concave games, to reach a situation of equilibrium; a situation where no player has the ultimate ability to deviate from its current strategy. We formulate the named game, then we analyze it and prove that there is exactly one Nash equilibrium which is the convergence of all players' best responses. We finally provide some numerical results, taking into consideration a system of two sources with a specific frequency space, and analyze the effect of different parameters on sources' visibility on the walls of social networks.

Electricity bill is one of the major operating expenses in most of the commercial buildings and industrial plants. Thus, the buildings’ energy management system is an essential element that should be utilized to optimize the energy usage and hence, contributes to carbon footprint reduction. To achieve this, one needs to first understand how the energy is being used in the buildings before any saving measures can be identified and proposed. Therefore, this paper presents the development of an Internet of Things (IoT) enabled device that can communicate with different digital energy meters through modbus protocol. The prototype has been successfully installed in three locations in the main campus of Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM). The proposed solution enables the campus-wide energy usage to be monitored and stored efficiently and economically as opposed to the capital-intensive SCADA system.

High Availability of data is one of the most critical requirements of a distributed stream processing systems (DSPS). We can achieve high availability using available recovering techniques, which include (active backup, passive backup and upstream backup). Each recovery technique has its own advantages and disadvantages. They are used for different type of failures based on the type and the nature of the failures. This paper presents an Automatic Selection Algorithm (ASA) which will help in selecting the best recovery techniques based on the type of failures. We intend to use together all different recovery approaches available (i.e., active standby, passive standby, and upstream standby) at nodes in a distributed stream-processing system (DSPS) based upon the system requirements and a failure type). By doing this, we will achieve all benefits of fastest recovery, precise recovery and a lower runtime overhead in a single solution. We evaluate our automatic selection algorithm (ASA) approach as an algorithm selector during the runtime of stream processing. Moreover, we also evaluated its efficiency in comparison with the time factor. The experimental results show that our approach is 95% efficient and fast than other conventional manual failure recovery approaches and is hence totally automatic in nature.

Cloud computing systems consist of a pool of Virtual Machines (VMs), which are installed physically on the provider's set up. The main aim of the VMs is to offer the service to the end users. With the current increasing demand for the cloud VMs, there is always a huge requirement to secure the cloud systems. To keep these cloud systems secured, they need a continuous and a proper monitoring. For the purpose of monitoring, several algorithms are available with FVMs. FVM is a forensic virtual machine which monitors the threats among the VMs. Our formulated algorithm runs on FVM. In this paper, we formulate the Random-Start-Round-Robin algorithm for monitoring inside FVM.
