Abstract

This is an enumeration of 174 examined spacies and of 11 not examined ones, in 16 genera, collected in or recorded from Thailand. The treatment is largely in the same way as in the 'Florae Siamensis Enume-ratio'. Synonyms and references are given. All examined specimens are listed for each of the 7 provinces of Thailand indicated on a map, and their field notes are recorded. Distribution outside Thailand is given in some detail, and occasionally nomenclatural or other notes are added. In Lepironia 1 species is recognized, in Mupaniu 5, in Hypolyf/ntm 1, in Fuirena 2, in Lipocarpha 2, in H&miearpha 1, in Scirpus 10, in Elco-charis 8, in Fimbristylis 51, in Bulbostylis 3, in Cyperus 53, in Rltyncho-spora 7, in Triocostularia 1, in Schoemis 'I, in Gahnia 1, in Scleria 23. Novelties are Fimbristylis grudlenta var. psilopodu, Scleria biflora ssp. fervuginea, (Ohwi), and Scleria retieuiata (Holtt.). An index to collectors' numbers is given at the end.

Abstract

Due to various causes, the early history of both taxonomy and no menclature in the genus Lygodium is very confused. As a result,a numberof problems arise which need fuller discussion than is possible in Flora Malesiana.Such problems are here discussed, concerning most of the species native in Malaysia.The new combination Lygodium auriculatum (Willd.) Alston is published, and a new typification of the species Ophioglossum scandens L. is proposed.

Abstract

For the Malaysian region three species and one variety of Pterocymbium are recognized,viz. P. beccarii K. Schumann, P.tinctorium (Blanco)Merrill,with var.javanicum(R. Brown) Kostermans and P.tubulatum (Masters) Pierre. Pterocymbium parviflorum Merrill is reduced to P. tubulatum; P. eamvanulatum Pierre,P.macrocrater Warburg,and P.viridiflorum Koorders are reduced to P. tinc- torium;P. stipitatum White & Francis is reduced to P.beccarii; whereas P.javanicum R.Brown is reduced to a variety of P.tinctorium,Pterocymbium tinctorium var.java- nicum (R. Brown) Kostermans var. nov.An enumeration of the specimens examined follows upon the annotations to each of the species recognized. Pterocymbium gigantifolium Elmer is referred to Sterculia L.under the name of Sterculia membranifolia Kostermans nom. nov.

Abstract

SAMBAS, E. N., KUSMANA, C., PRASETYO, L. B. & PARTOMIHARDJO, T. 2018. Vegetation analysis and population structure of plants at Mount Endut forested area, Gunung Halimun Salak National Park, Banten, Java,Indonesia. Reinwardtia 17 (1): 39–53. — Study of vegetation structure and species composition at Mount Endut was carried out by using transect and plot methods. Data of trees, saplings and seedlings were enumerated from four transects measuring 10 m × 2,000 m in four directions of slopes i.e. North, South, East and West. In total there were 180 species of trees and saplings belonging to 105 genera and 51 families. Tree density and basal area indicate the variation and the differences in each of the sampling locations. Density of saplings and abundance of seedlings tend to be low in locations with high density and basal areas at tree level. Tree species having higher Importance Value were Castanopsis acuminatissima, Schima wallichii, C. argentea, Quercus gemelliflora, and Altingia excelsa. Castanopsis acuminatissima, Garcinia rostrata, S. wallichii, Symplocos cochinchinensis, and Prunus arborea were saplings which had highest density, while Ophiorrhiza marginata, Cyathea contaminans, Pinanga coronata,C. acuminatissima, and G. rostrata were the most abundant listed seedlings at the study site. At least 27 tree species (21.91%) were recorded as relatively rare (presence represented by only 1–2 individuals), thus requiring special attention in the management of the area.

Abstract

Study on leaf nutrient status in the primary lowland dipterocarp forest has been carried out at Mulawarman University research forest, Lempake, Samarinda. Six elements i.e. N, P, K, Na, Ca and Mg were analyzed. Results show that the dominant species and family seemed to be controlling and maintenance the main mineral nutrients in this forest ecosystem. There were a variation of mineral nutrients between species and also a fluctuation of mineral nutrients in the different period.

Abstract

This fourth part deals with the family of Boletaceae as currently delimited, with the exclusion of the frankly lamellate groups.The commonly accepted typification of Boletus Fr.by B. edulis Bull, ex Fr. is not that which would be arrived at by strict adherence to the recommendations for the selection of types.It is, however, desirable to find a way of accepting B.edvlis as the type species of Boletus.The correct name for the genus generally called Gyrodon Opat. seems to be Uloporus Quel.

Reinwardtia 15(1): 61 – 64. — A new species of Begonia, B. manuselaensis Ardhaka & Ardi, is described from Seram, Maluku province, Indonesia. The species is endemic to Seram and belongs to Begonia section Petermannia.

Abstract

The new species Stachybotrys palmijunci Rifai is described and illustrated based on a collection on a decaying stem of the rattan Daemonorhops melanochaetes from West Java. It is compared with the closely related Javanese species Stachybotrys bambusicola Rifai.
