Journal DaFIna : Journal Deutsch als Fremdsprache in Indonesien is an electronic journal managed by the Department of German Literature at the State University of Malang which contains articles in both Indonesian and foreign languages. Articles contained in the form of analysis, study, application of theory, results of research, and discussion of literature with the following scope: 1) DaF (Deutsch als Fremdsprache) / learning German as a foreign language, especially in Indonesia, but does not rule out the possibility of themes same from other countries; 2) Germanistic / Deutsche Linguistics / linguistics in German and its teaching; 3) Deutsche Literatur / German literature and its teaching; 4) Übersetzung / German translation and teaching; and 5) related themes, for example a) Tourism / tourism management for German-speaking foreign tourists and their teaching and b) Deutschkurs / management of German language courses and teaching.

Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of this study is to describe the translation method that used by students of the German Literature Department, State University of Malang in translating the song "Wie Schön Du Bist". The method is qualitative. Sources of the data in this study are 16 students of the German Literature Department who are currently taking Translation Theory course. The data in this study are words, phrases, clauses, and sentences both SL and TL. The results of this study indicate that students use five translation methods in translating the song "Wie Schön Du Bist", namely the literal translation method, the faithful translation method, the semantic translation method, the free translation method, and the communicative translation method. The literal translation method is the most dominant translation method that used by the students in translating this song. Students look for the closest equivalent grammar structure in TL, but cannot re-express the meaning of SL in TL. What is transferred to TL is the form of SL, not the meaning contained in SL. Keywords : translation method, translate, song “Wie Schön Du Bist”

Abstract

This research aims to describe the components of the lesson plan (RPP) compiled by students of German Department State University of Malang and used during carrying out Kajian Praktik Lapangan (KPL) in several high schools in the academic year 2019/2020. This research uses a descriptive qualitative research design. The data source of this research is the written data source, which are documents in the form of lesson plans that are compiled and used by five students of German Department 2016 who carry out the KPL in several high schools. The research data is in the form of verbal data about the overall description of information in each lesson plan. The technique used to collect data is the document study guidelines, while the technique used to analyze the data is the document analysis technique. The result showed that the 2013 curriculum’s RPPs compiled by German Department students were mostly in accordance with Permendikbud No. 22 of 2016. However, there are some deficiencies such us AR and AW not listing all 13 components of the lesson plans needed and in some lesson plans components, almost all authors does not explain in detail the information on each component of the RPP.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop a tourism catalog of Malang Raya that compiled in bilingual, Indonesian and German. The product has been through a validation process by the media expert and material expert. The field trial was conducted by 10 respondents of the Indonesian Literature Department State University of Malang. The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire sheets. This study employed was descriptive quantitative research. The result of this study stated that the catalog is suitable to be used as a tourism reference in Malang Raya, and as literature readings for the related institutions in terms of Malang Raya tourism.

Abstract

The purposes of this research are to describe the factors of the PASCH and non-PASCH students’ internal and external motivation to learn german and to describe the PASCH- and non-PASCH teacher’s role on motivating the students to learn german. This research uses the descriptive qualitative method. The results of this research show that internal factors that underlie students' learning motivation are shown among others by the reasons for students why they learn German, students' interest in German country and culture, the importance of German for students, the enthusiasm of students during german lesson, and the effort of the students to improve their german. Meanwhile, PASCH program is an additional factor of the PASCH students extrinsic motivation while for non-PASCH students, the teachers have a more dominant role as a factor of their extrinsic motivation, the teachers of PASCH and non-PASCH schools have a big role on motivating the students externally.

Abstract

This article aims to describe the use of the application DW Learn German to understand the information in the audio in the subject B1-Prüfungsvorbereitung in the German Literature Department, State University of Malang. The research method used is a descriptive method with data in form of a score of listening ability after using the application. Sources of research data were all students of year 2018 at offering B who took the course B1-Prüfungsvorbereitung. The results showed that students' listening skills increased after using the DW Learn German application. The DW Learn German application as a support for the course B1-Prüfungsvorbereitung can help improving students' listening skills, especially in understanding the essence of long texts. The texts that are used as question stimuli in the DW Learn German application are long texts with a duration of 1.5 minutes, approximately 250 words per text, in the context of daily activities with various topics.

Abstract

This research aims to describe types of syntactic error and its  most dominant type in the translation of Minikrimi by  students of the Department of German, Universitas Negeri Malang. The method used in this research is qualitative methode with descriptive research type. The results show that there are 9 (nine) forms of syntactic error  in the translation results. The most dominant error was error in using of conjunctions.

Abstract

This article aims to describe the process of applying Quizziz media to train German language listening skills of class X MAN 1 Malang City students and student responses to the application of the media. This study used a qualitative descriptive method in conducting research and there were 31 students of class X Religion MAN 1 Malang who became the data sources. Researchers used data collection instruments in the form of questionnaire sheets and observation sheets. The results of this study indicate that the application of Quizizz media to practice listening skills in German in class X Religion MAN 1 Malang runs smoothly and conducively. In addition, students said that Quizizz is an interesting medium to use in learning German in class because this media has attractive features and displays in the form of audio and images.

Abstract

This study aimed at describing the use of “Schneeballschlachtenspiel” as “Automatisierungsübung” or automation  excercise for student in German lteaching. This is a qualitative study that has been supported by quantitative data. The data were the use of Schneeballschlachtenspiel during the teaching which was collected through observation as well as documentation and learners’ perceptions about Schneeballschlachtenspiel which were collected through questionnaire. The data source were students of the German Department at Universitas Negeri Malang who were attending the course Deutsch 3. The result of the study show that Schneeballschlatenspiel as active-passive sentence exercise works well in the class. The students find that it was fun during the game and they have positive mind about it. Schneeballschlachten help them understand paricular grammar and they will use it again. In addition, the students find it  interresting and attractive.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the results of the translation of the Funktionverbgefuge form gained from the informative text “Gute Unterhaltung” by students of the Department of German Literature, class of 2014. The  type of the research is qualitative. Informative text of “Gute Unterhaltung” translated by offering B students was  the source of the data of  the study. The data of the study consisted of the original sentences and the translated one in the target language which contain the funktionverbgefüge form. Based on the conducted research, there are 5 FVG phrases with different forms in the ‘Gute Unterhaltung’ article consisting of 3 FVG mit Akkusativobjekt phrases and 2 FVG mit Präpositionalobjekt phrases. The result of the study shows that student can translate the FVG form lexically well. However, there are many results of translated sentences with FVG mit Akkusativobjekt contextually acceptable. Meanwhile, there are many FVG sentences with Präpositionalobjekt contextual translated by students that are less acceptable and unacceptable, but there are several also results of the textual FVG mit Prapositionalobjek translation acceptable. These mistakes occur due to misconceptions of the context, incorrect translation methods and inadequate word choice.

Abstract

The aim of this research and development is to develop Lerpoche learning media for the Literaturgeschichte course. The research and development model used in this study is the Four-D development model (1974). This model is modified into three steps, namely (1) Define, (2) Design, and (3) Develop. In this study, data were obtained from the results of product validation by material experts and media experts. The result of this research and development is that Lerpoche learning media can be used in the Literaturgeschichte learning course.
