Abstract

Dynamism is a critical nature of business environment that is deeply enrooted in shifts in paradigms, and this shift has in recent times emphasized on the need to place great priority on the satisfaction of customers for business success. In this vein, businesses have clearly explored various options in achieving this objective, but less attention has been to given latent options which includes ethical climate most especially in the area of artisans. This study thus investigates effect of ethical climate and customer satisfaction among auto mechanics in Minna metropolis. The study focuses on four dimensions of ethical climate: trustworthiness, transparency, fair treatment, and professional competence. Customer satisfaction is evaluated through measures of overall satisfaction and willingness to recommend auto mechanics to other car owners. The research employs a quantitative approach, utilizing a structured questionnaire to collect data from 402 registered car owners. The collected data was analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) to examine the associations between ethical climate dimensions and customer satisfaction. The results reveal captivating insights into the dynamics at play. Transparency, fair treatment, and professional competence demonstrate statistically significant positive relationships with customer satisfaction. However, the dimension of trustworthiness displays a positive relationship with customer satisfaction that lacks statistical significance. The findings underscore the importance of nurturing a robust ethical climate within the auto mechanic industry to enhance customer satisfaction. It is recommended that auto mechanics, through their associations, prioritise initiatives aimed at strengthening ethical dimensions. Such initiatives can include continuous improvement programmes and ethical awareness campaigns. By emphasizing these aspects, auto mechanics can create an environment that not only ensures their own professional growth but also enriches their interactions with customers, fostering trust and loyalty.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the Policy and Practice of Village Fund Allocation and Agro-Downstreaming: Evidence from Wotay Village, Central Maluku. Wotay Village is one of the second-largest coconut-producing areas in Maluku Province, with 221 farmers and coconut-processing business actors. A total of 70 respondents were selected from this population using purposive and simple random sampling. Data were collected through a five-point Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results show that Village Fund Allocation has no significant effect on community welfare, despite the village receiving IDR 757,282,000 in 2024, due to limited community participation, low transparency, and a predominantly top-down budgeting process. In contrast, Coconut Product Downstreaming has a positive and significant effect on welfare, as higher levels of processing and value addition contribute to increased income and improved living standards. Overall, both variables explain 47.2% of the variation in community welfare, emphasizing the need for effective downstreaming strategies and participatory, transparent Village Fund management to enhance sustainable welfare and support the development of village policies and local agro-industrial economic empowerment.

Abstract

Youth are a strategic national asset because they are of productive age, determining the direction of future economic development. This study is based on the hypothesis that the quality of youth human capital influences economic growth across provinces in Indonesia. Data are sourced from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in 2024, with 38 provinces as analysis units. The methods used include biplot analysis to map variations in youth human capital indicators (education, health, and employment) and multiple linear regression to examine their influence on per capita economic growth. The results show disparities in youth human capital across provinces, with Java and parts of Sumatra being relatively superior compared to eastern Indonesia. Health and employment factors have been shown to influence economic growth, while education shows a contradictory relationship due to the phenomena of skill mismatch and time lag. These findings confirm that human development, especially youth development, is a crucial foundation for achieving the 2025–2045 RPJPN targets towards an Advanced Indonesia. Mapping human capital potential allows for targeted local-scale policy mapping.

Abstract

This study integrates Social Return on Investment (SROI), the Community Satisfaction Index (CSI), and Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) to evaluate the effectiveness of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program implemented by PT PLN (Persero) UIP Kalimantan Bagian Barat in the Rungan Indigenous Forest area, Central Kalimantan. This approach aims to quantitatively and qualitatively assess the social, economic, and environmental impacts of a community empowerment program grounded in conservation principles and local wisdom. The research employs a descriptive–explanatory design with 76 indigenous respondents selected through purposive sampling. The results show an SROI ratio of 3.43, indicating that every Rp1.00 invested generates Rp3.43 in socio-economic benefits. The CSI score reached 3.565, equivalent to a converted value of 89.128 in category A (very good), reflecting a high level of satisfaction with the quality of program implementation. The SEM-PLS analysis reveals that institutional support and social capital significantly influence community empowerment, with access and capability acting as key mediators. The integration of these three methods provides a comprehensive, measurable, and evidence-based CSR evaluation framework, which is relevant for replication in other indigenous forest areas and supports the achievement of the social and environmental pillars of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Abstract

The 2023 removal of Nigeria's fuel subsidy, which was supposed to free up fiscal resources for development, resulted in dramatic price hikes, inflation, and widespread popular anger. This paper contends that the reform's failure arises not only from technical or planning shortcomings, but also from the ubiquitous effect of informal institutions on policy implementation. Fuel merchants, bureaucratic gatekeepers, and political elites formed networks that influenced pricing, distribution, and palliative measures, shifting benefits and undercutting compensatory efforts. Using a qualitative single-case study and informal institutions theory, the analysis shows how these individuals deliberately undermine formal changes, resulting in active trust destruction, in which citizens regard policy failure as deliberate rather than incidental. The findings indicate that ad hoc and opaque relief measures enhance distrust, limiting the legitimacy gains of reform. The report concludes that without institutionalised transparency, effective monitoring, and regular compensation, Nigerian subsidy reforms will continue to fail, growing public scepticism and jeopardising economic and political stability.
