Abstract

This paper presents a study of sugarcane waste for biomass energy in the supply of electrical energy. Biomass is a renewable energy source derived from organic matter such as wood and sugarcane waste. As much as 30 per cent of sugar cane raw material for sugar production is in the form of sugar cane waste. This sugarcane waste is very potential to be developed as a biomass energy raw material. In this study, an analysis of the potential of sugarcane waste at the Madukismo Yogyakarta sugar mill was carried out. Observations made to record how much cane waste is produced by the sugar factory every day of the year. Furthermore, these data are analyzed using Homer Energy software to obtain the potential of electrical energy produced during a year. The analysis was also carried out on the amount of electricity demand in the sugar factory. This study is done to calculate how much the contribution of electrical energy from biomass as a provider of electricity supply. The results of the analysis showed that sugarcane waste as much as 1.035 tons/day on average was able to meet all the electrical energy requirements for the operation of the Madukismo sugar factory.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM), a metabolic disorder caused by the lack of the insulin hormone, has become a health problem quite severe and is the most common endocrine disease. Recently, diagnosing diabetes could be carried out through monitoring the glucose level in human blood taken from the patient's finger or arm. On the other hand, a non-invasive blood sugar detector with a benedict test on human urine is an alternative to monitor blood sugar without injuring the body. The test output can be determined from the colour of the colour change of urine. However, manual evaluations on the urine colour are prone to human subjectivity. In this paper, we present a computational method to determine the blood sugar level based on the colour of the given urine automatically. The proposed method identifies the blood sugar level by taking into account the colour intensity on the red, green, and blue (RGB) channels of the urine colour. In the experimental parts, the proposed method is capable of classifying the urine sample correctly. Hence, our approach may be beneficial for practical applications.

Abstract

With the increasing number of people contaminated with cat disease, many veterinarians specializing in cats in Indonesia open up a practice in big cities only. Thus, it is not uncommon for cat owners who are late to provide treatment for skin diseases since the initial symptoms occur. Based on the problems to overcome skin diseases in cats, it is necessary to build a computerized system that has knowledge such as veterinarians and the system can be a tool in diagnosing types of diseases and provide solutions for treatment and prevention with the expert system of Certainty Factor (CF), because the Certainty Factor (CF) method is to prove whether a fact is certain or uncertain in the form of a metric that is usually used in expert systems. The results of the system are to help users, among others, veterinarians in diagnosing skin diseases in cats and animal owners, especially cats to find skin diseases in cats. It is expected to make it easier for doctors and cat owners to determine the type of skin disease based on existing symptoms and get the right treatment method.

Abstract

The Android operating system on smartphones has developed rapidly and become a favorite among other operating systems. In addition to applications that can be obtained for free, making applications on Android is also easy because the platform is open source. Hence, it allows users to create or develop applications already available. By utilizing convenience, Android smartphones can be used to control household appliances such as fans. Applications on Android can be made with the MIT App Inventor software, so it can be used to adjust the fan spin. Android applications can ease users to increase or decrease the spin speed of the fan from a distance. Arduino Nano microcontroller and Relay were used to adjust the fan spin, while the Bluetooth Module was used to connect the microcontroller and Android smartphone. After the testing process, the fan spin could be set using Android with a maximum distance of 15.2 meters without barriers and 11 meters with a wall barrier. Fan spin has 3 speed, 1473 rpm for high spin, 1462 rpm for medium spin, 1451 rpm for low spin, while the timer used consisted of 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes, 60 minutes, and 120 minutes.

Abstract

Schizophrenia is a chronic mental disorder causing sufferers experiencing delusions, hallucinations, thoughts distracting, and behavior changing. This condition that usually lasts a long time is often interpreted as a mental disorder, given the difficulty of the patient to distinguish between reality and one's mind. The purpose of this study is to facilitate nurses when doing care, especially in the inpatient room, and so that care is more intensive. By using the magnetic sensor as a detector when the door is open, and the PIR (Passive Infrared Receiver) sensor as a detection of the patients flew motion, and the lamp as an indicator. The results of the data can be obtained from testing by calculating the distance if the sensor can detect. The testing results the device it is proven that the magnetic sensor can detect up to 1 cm, and the PIR sensor can detect up to 5,5 meters.
