Abstract

The existing studies have resulteda coaching model for certified mathematics teachersof junior high schoolusing Mathematics Coaching Program (MCP). In this coaching program, mathematics teachers were given the opportunity to convey, discuss, and solve the problems associated with learning mathematics. At the end of each meeting, the teachers were given the task to apply the learning model that is an alternative for the problem solution in the field. With this training, teachers implement training materials using learning model chosen in each school. As teachers implement the model, the monitoring was held by the trainers and principals. At that time, the teachers still received coaching using social networking media through email (e-coaching). By e-coaching, without waiting for the next meeting, the teachers received the necessary guidance. The coaching results indicate that the competence of junior high school math teacher who have been certified is improved. Before getting the coaching program, the mean value of teacher was at 43.695 which means “intermediate” level. After getting the coaching program with MCP model, the mean value of professional competence becomes 73.2 which is “high” level After being tested using t-test, it is obtained that thit = 14,095. The result shows significant difference before and after the professional competence receivethe coaching program using MCP model which is followed by monitoring and e-Coaching (MEC). Regardingto the mean value, MCP model which is followed by the MEC is effective to be used to improve teachers’ performance, in this case is, to increase teachers’ professional competence.

Abstract

The unemployment in Indonesia is high and it continues to threaten the world. Several factors which cause the educated unemployment are: (1) curriculum plan cannot be fully implemented as an actual curriculum; (2) curriculum focuses more on the hard skills and less on soft skills development. From the preliminary research stage (method R & D), the factual implementation of curriculum management was obtained. The subjects were chairman of the Program, lecturers, and students from thepurposively selected object. Data collection techniques were observation and interview guidelines. The validity of the data used triangulation instruments and resources. The data were analyzed using interactive analysis techniques through data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results obtain: (1) management curriculum has been implemented using the four functions of management, and the result is not optimal yet, (2) it has not been fully based on CBC and KKNI, (3) there is limited time to evaluate the implementation and action in the curriculum management, (4) it has not been fully oriented to the development of soft skills and SCL, (5) there is balance between hard skills and soft skills and it has someprogrammed extracurricular activities, (6) there is nolearningimplementation and thedesigned SKL is in accordance with SKK. In conclusion, the educated unemployment and the readiness of Indonesia to enter the single market of MEA 2015 can be done through: (1) curriculum managementdevelopment and soft skills of students, (2) creating appropriate interrelation between SKL with SKK. In order to achieve both goals, conducting concrete steps are necessary.

Abstract

This study aims to develop poetry teaching materials in accordance with the demands of learning including the demands of the curriculum, student characteristics, and the community in general. The study employed Research and Development (R&D) method in order to create a product in form of childrens poetry criteria as teaching materials in elementary school. The method was simplified so that it only included three main phases, namely (1) a preliminary study, (2) formulation and product development, and (3) validation and dissemination of products. The study results in two outputs, namely the criteria of childrens poetry and model of poetry teaching materials development in elementary school. Childrens poetry criteria expected by the teacher can be seen from three aspects, namely typography, language, and content. Typography involves the writing of title, author’s name, lines, stanzas, capitalization, the length of poetry, and poetry model. The language used should be beautiful and communicative. The contents of childrens poetry should be useful and can be understood by children. The development of poetry in elementary school teaching materials can be done in three ways: through process of creation, translation, and adaptation. Creation means to create a poem that does not exist before;translation means to shift poetry from the local or foreign languages into Indonesian Language; while adaptation means to create poetry from the existed texts.
