Abstract

The customary law practiced within a community reflects a system of values and norms passed down through generations. One such regulation is the prohibition of activities such as farming, gardening, and fishing on certain days particularly on Fridays as a form of respect for the obligation of performing Friday prayers. This study aims to examine the philosophical foundations, alignment with Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh), and the effectiveness of the implementation of customary sanctions in North Aceh Regency. The study reveals the complex interaction between traditional customs and the principles of Islamic law in the formulation of these sanctions. The research employs an empirical juridical method, with a normative approach focusing on the analysis of customary legal norms prevailing in the local community. The subjects were selected through purposive sampling, involving interviews with religious leaders (ulema), traditional leaders, mukim, customary institutions, and the local community of North Aceh. The findings indicate that the philosophical rationale behind the formulation of customary sanctions in North Aceh aligns with fiqh principles, aiming to preserve traditional values and local culture as integral components of community life. These sanctions are based on principles of justice, solidarity, social responsibility, and social order, with the goal of restoring communal harmony disrupted by violations of local norms. The formulation process involves collaboration between Islamic scholars and traditional leaders through the study of Islamic texts, the Qur’an, and Hadith, alongside discussions about local customary practices. The implementation of customary sanctions is considered effective, as it continues to be respected and upheld by the community. However, challenges persist in the form of declining knowledge and concern among younger generations regarding customary law. This study recommends the preservation of customary values rooted in Islamic principles through educational and participatory approaches across generations.

Abstract

Philosophy plays a very important role in human thought, as it deals with deeper matters—specifically, the study of knowledge itself. This shows that philosophy is the foundation of all science and knowledge. Philosophers study how humans come to know and how they use knowledge. Since thinking and knowing are two distinct things, philosophy—or the thinking about knowledge—is essential. What are the characteristics of human beings? What do we know about the process? Thinking is done in order to produce knowledge. Knowledge is information that enters a person’s heart after it has been acted upon, combined with understanding and the potential for action. Furthermore, knowledge has the capacity to predict and produce outcomes that reveal patterns. As a result, the effort to develop individuals through education and training—whether personal or in groups—depends greatly on knowledge.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of teachers in improving student discipline through the axiological approach of Islamic education. Using library research and School Action Research (SAR) methods along with a qualitative approach, data were obtained from recent and relevant literature sources. The results of the study show that teachers play a central role in shaping student discipline—as role models, mentors, and supervisors. The axiology of Islamic education emphasizes that discipline is not merely a set of rules, but an integral part of moral character (akhlaq). Through value-based learning, consistent supervision, and collaboration with parents, teachers can help students internalize the values of discipline. This research highlights the importance of teacher competence and consistency in shaping student discipline in accordance with Islamic values.

Abstract

In today's digital era, particularly as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the millennial generation is experiencing a crisis of uswah hasanah (exemplary role models). After nearly three years of being accustomed to online learning, students' morals and habits have gradually shifted away from religious norms. This situation is further exacerbated by the ease of access to vulgar images and videos that deviate from Islamic teachings, worsening the future outlook of young people's religious values. When formal education fails to offer a solution for parents facing this reality, Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) present an educational model that prioritizes moral development through the salafiyah system, where the kyai (Islamic scholar) serves as the central figure and role model, and the pesantren environment becomes the place to internalize and apply knowledge. Through this 24-hour learning method, millennial students—known as santri—receive constant supervision and guidance from the kyai, both physically (dzahir) and spiritually (batin), with the aim of shaping them into well-rounded individuals (insan kamil). Based on this reality, the author conducted a study to examine how significantly the presence of pesantren influences the morality of the millennial generation in its surrounding environment using descriptive and verifiable methods. This is exemplified by KH. Nurhusen Hidayatulloh, leader of Pesantren Darul Muta’alimin 06 Sumber Agung, in how he educates his students. Located in the village of Sumber Agung, Way Sulan District, South Lampung Regency—a community largely composed of informal laborers with low levels of education and limited religious understanding—teenagers often lack proper religious guidance from their parents. However, significant changes have been observed: community interest in religious gatherings and dhikr has increased, and youth are becoming more actively involved in various religious activities.

Abstract

Among the many branches of Islamic religion, philosophy is a science. The critical study of all phenomena of human life and intellect expressed in basic concepts is known as philosophy. Studying philosophy involves stating problems accurately, seeking answers, and offering appropriate justifications and arguments for a particular solution rather than conducting tests and experiments. It is impossible to separate philosophy from its various fields, including the philosophy of education. One of the fields of philosophy that examines the nature of teaching and its implementation is called the philosophy of education. Among the topics discussed are the goals, history, techniques, outcomes, and character of education. Its approach is a critical analysis of the benefits and structures of education. Among the specific criticisms is the interaction between teachers and students during the educational process. In terms of ontology, epistemology, or axiology, educational activities are considered as objects of study in the philosophy of education
