Abstract

Permasalahan sampah organik rumah tangga menjadi salah satu faktor yang berkontribusi terhadap pencemaran lingkungan dan peningkatan risiko penyakit berbasis lingkungan. Program TEBA (Tempat Olah Sampah Setempat) dikembangkan sebagai upaya pengelolaan sampah dari sumber. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis implementasi pengelolaan sampah organik rumah tangga berbasis TEBA dalam menurunkan timbulan sampah serta risiko penyakit berbasis lingkungan. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain deskriptif analitik yang dilaksanakan pada Maret 2026 dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 15 responden yang dipilih secara purposive. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui kuesioner, observasi, dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif menggunakan frekuensi dan persentase. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebelum penerapan TEBA, sebanyak 66,6% responden menghasilkan sampah organik lebih dari 2 kg per hari, sedangkan setelah penerapan sebanyak 93,3% responden tidak lagi membuang sampah organik. Selain itu, perilaku pemilahan sampah meningkat dari 26,7% menjadi 100%. Penurunan timbulan sampah dan peningkatan pemilahan berimplikasi pada berkurangnya penumpukan sampah, bau, serta media berkembangnya mikroorganisme dan vektor penyakit. Dengan demikian, implementasi TEBA efektif dalam menurunkan timbulan sampah dan berkontribusi terhadap penurunan risiko penyakit berbasis lingkungan.

Abstract

Permasalahan limbah organik rumah tangga memerlukan pengelolaan berbasis partisipasi masyarakat, salah satunya melalui pemanfaatan eco enzyme. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan ibu rumah tangga dalam mengolah eco enzyme menjadi produk multifungsi bernilai ekonomis, seperti cairan pembersih, pupuk cair organik, pestisida alami, penghilang bau, dan sabun cair. Kegiatan dilaksanakan di Kelurahan Biring Romang dengan sasaran utama ibu rumah tangga. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi penyampaian materi, praktik pengolahan eco enzyme, serta evaluasi melalui pre-test dan post-test. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan rata-rata nilai peserta dari 46,00 pada pre-test menjadi 87,33 pada post-test, dengan hasil uji Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan (p<0,001). Pelatihan ini juga membuka wawasan dan meningkatkan motivasi peserta untuk memanfaatkan produk berbasis eco enzyme, baik untuk penggunaan pribadi maupun sebagai peluang usaha tambahan yang bernilai ekonomis. Peserta menunjukkan antusiasme tinggi selama pelatihan dan berharap kegiatan serupa dapat terus dilaksanakan dengan pengembangan produk eco enzyme yang lebih beragam dan bernilai jual.

Abstract

Urban development and land conversion in residential areas of Makassar have increased pressure on surface water quality through domestic wastewater discharge, runoff, and reduced infiltration areas. The degradation of riparian vegetation and green open spaces (RTH) may reduce the ecological functions of urban waters, including filtering pollutants and maintaining environmental balance. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the role of RTH vegetation in maintaining surface water quality in urban settlements using a quantitative descriptive approach. Surface water samples were collected from two rivers and one pond, while the analyzed parameters included pH, DO, BOD, COD, TSS, ammonia, fecal coliform, and total coliform based on Class II water quality standards and Pollution Index (PI) calculations. The results showed that BOD and COD exceeded the quality standards, while other parameters remained within acceptable limits. Pollution Index values ranged from 2.82 to 3.02, indicating lightly polluted conditions. Vegetation in the study area was dominated by Nypa fruticans, Sonneratia caseolaris, Rhizophora mucronata, Samanea saman, and Swietenia mahagoni, which contributed to reducing runoff and maintaining water stability. However, the vegetation had not effectively reduced organic pollution from domestic activities and land-use change. These findings indicate that green open spaces act as ecological buffers and support sustainable water quality management in Makassar by promoting vegetation conservation and improving domestic waste management.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the role of green open space (GOS) vegetation on air quality in densely populated residential areas of Makassar City. Rapid urban development, increased vehicle activity, and the reduction of urban green spaces have contributed to the decline in environmental quality, particularly ambient air quality, in urban settlements. The research was conducted in the Tamalanrea District at six observation points representing commercial areas, main roads, warehouse areas, and residential settlements. A quantitative descriptive method was applied through direct field measurements of ambient air quality parameters, including Sulfur Dioxide (SO₂), Nitrogen Dioxide (NO₂), Carbon Monoxide (CO), Total Suspended Particulate (TSP), and Lead (Pb), combined with vegetation observations to identify vegetation density and dominant plant species at each observation point. The results showed that ambient air quality at all observation points remained below the national ambient air quality standards. Higher concentrations of SO₂, NO₂, and TSP were found in areas with high vehicle activity, such as commercial zones, residential gateways, and warehouse areas. In contrast, residential areas with denser vegetation cover tended to show lower concentrations of air pollutants. Vegetation in the study area was dominated by species such as Samanea saman, Swietenia mahagoni, Tabebuia sp., Terminalia mantaly, and Syzygium oleina. The findings indicate that vegetation density and land-use characteristics influence ambient air quality conditions in urban residential areas. Therefore, the development and preservation of green open spaces are essential to support environmental sustainability and improve urban air quality.
