Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Tuesday Literacy (SERASI) program at SMP Negeri 4 Lembang on the development of critical thinking and strengthening of students' civic skills through a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection was conducted using interview techniques, observation, and documentation with teachers and students. The results of the study indicate that the SERASI program is implemented through structured stages of independent reading, presentations, discussions, and reflection. These stages have proven effective in training students' abilities to focus on problems, construct logical arguments, and draw conclusions. The development of civic intellectual skills and civic participation skills is achieved in an integrated manner through the practice of analyzing social issues, deliberation, and the courage to voice opinions democratically. Operational obstacles such as academic anxiety and sanction-based pseudo-compliance were still found during the implementation. The findings of this study confirm the strategic function of the SERASI program as a significant contextual learning medium for shaping a culture of literacy while preparing critical, intelligent, and democratic citizens.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the increasing popularity of Korean Pop (K-Pop) culture among university students as a result of globalization and the development of digital technology. This phenomenon raises concerns about the influence of foreign culture on the nationalist attitudes of the younger generation. This study aims to analyze the entry, spread, and development of K-Pop culture until it became popular among student members of the Hallyu Edutainment Student Activity Unit (UKM) UPI, as well as to understand how students interpret national identity and nationalism amidst their interest in Korean culture. The research used a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation studies of members of the UKM Hallyu Edutainment UPI. The results show that K-Pop's popularity is influenced by the development of digital and social media, which facilitate students' quick and real-time access to Korean cultural information. Students' interest in K-Pop is influenced not only by the music and visuals of idols, but also by the values of discipline, hard work, and professionalism displayed by Korean idols. Furthermore, the formation of K-Pop fan communities creates solidarity and unique communication patterns among students. Despite exposure to foreign cultures, students still demonstrate nationalism through their concern for national issues, participation in social activities, and the ability to filter foreign cultures according to Indonesian values and norms. Thus, K-Pop culture does not diminish students' nationalism but rather encourages a selective cultural adaptation process.

Abstract

Moral degradation among students, ranging from academic plagiarism, ethical violations, intolerance, to corrupt behavior, indicates a value crisis that threatens the character of the nation. Pancasila Education as a mandatory curriculum course in higher education has a strategic position to internalize Pancasila ethics, but its implementation often gets trapped in cognitive-oriented learning. This study aims to examine the concept, position, learning strategies, and challenges of Pancasila ethics education in the Pancasila Education course at higher education institutions. The method used is a literature review of scientific articles in accredited national journals and relevant references published from 2018 to 2024, analyzed using content analysis techniques thru the stages of identification, selection, in-depth reading, and thematic synthesis. The study results show that: (1) Pancasila ethics is a value-based ethical system derived from the five principles and serves as a normative guideline for students' moral considerations; (2) the Pancasila Education course is the main vehicle for Pancasila ethics education, but its effectiveness depends on the learning design; (3) participatory learning strategies such as case studies, group discussions, project-based learning, and game-based learning thru educational board games have proven to be more effective in internalizing Pancasila ethics values compared to the expository approach; and (4) the challenges faced include digital disruption, a learning orientation that emphasizes knowledge over attitude, and the gap between understanding and ethical behavior. This study recommends transforming the Pancasila Education learning model toward a reflective, contextual, and experience-based ethical practice model.
