Abstract

This study examines the effects of shipping costs, market competition, and service quality on export volume, with the exchange rate as a moderating variable among Indonesian exporters and freight forwarders using maritime transport and shipping companies also entered into the population to calculate the increase in export volume. A descriptive quantitative method was applied, employing primary data from questionnaires and secondary data from company reports, shipping statistics, and relevant literature. Using purposive sampling and the 10-times rule for 32 indicators, a minimum of 320 respondents was obtained. Data were analyzed with Structural Equation Modeling Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) using SmartPLS 4. Results reveal that exchange rate, shipping costs, and service quality have a positive and significant impact on export volume. Higher shipping costs accompany increased export activity, while superior service quality enhances efficiency and international trade partner confidence. Conversely, the number of competitors shows no significant effect, indicating that the presence of more shipping operators does not directly raise export shipments. The exchange rate strengthens the relationships between shipping costs and competition with export volume but does not moderate the effect of service quality. These findings highlight the importance of exchange rate stability and improved maritime logistics services to foster Indonesia’s export growth, while expansion of shipping operators should be regulated to ensure competitive pricing and optimal service.

Abstract

The oil and gas industry is characterized by a high level of safety risk, particularly in activities involving the handling of fuel products classified as Dangerous goods (DG). Operational performance in high-risk work environments is strongly influenced by safety behaviour, technical competence, and the effectiveness of the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) system. This study aims to analyze the effect of safety behaviour and Dangerous goods handling competence on operational performance, with HSE as a mediating variable. This research adopts a quantitative approach using a survey method involving 188 respondents engaged in operational activities. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results indicate that safety behaviour and Dangerous goods handling competence have a positive and significant effect on operational performance. In addition, safety behaviour and DG competence significantly influence HSE. HSE is proven to have a positive effect on operational performance and acts as a mediating variable, mediating the relationship between safety behaviour and operational performance, and more strongly mediating the relationship between DG competence and operational performance. These findings confirm that improving operational performance requires an integrated approach combining safety behaviour, technical competence, and an effective HSE system. This study is expected to contribute both theoretically and practically to the management of safety and operational performance in high-risk industries.

Abstract

The logistics and transportation sector faces pressure to align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), yet the role of Human Resource Management (HRM) lacks a synthesized, critically appraised evidence base. This study closes this gap via a systematic literature review guided by PRISMA 2020. Searching major databases yielded 25 high-impact review articles (2019-2025), which were critically appraised using the CASP checklist. Thematic analysis identified five core determinants for successful integration: Technological Adoption, Circular Economy Principles, Coherent Policy Frameworks, Workforce Awareness, and Sustainable Resource Management. Based on these findings, we propose an integrative socio-technical framework. This study provides a validated, evidence-based roadmap for stakeholders to develop resilient and sustainable HRM strategies, moving beyond a simple literature summary to offer a critically validated foundation for the industry.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of parking inventory and parking utilization on terminal services and facility improvements at Muara Angke Port, North Jakarta. The background of this research is based on the current condition where the terminal is not yet located within the port area, requiring users to walk more than one kilometer and/or use other modes of transportation to reach the terminal. This research adopts a quantitative approach using survey methods through the distribution of questionnaires to respondents consisting of three main groups: regulators (port authorities), operators (terminal and parking managers), and consumers (passengers). The study involved a sample of 240 respondents, in accordance with the recommended number of indicators in statistical analysis as proposed by Hair et al. (2014). Primary data were collected through questionnaires, while secondary data were obtained from literature, scientific journals, and relevant regulations. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the assistance of Smart PLS software. The model employed includes the outer model to test validity and reliability, and the inner model to test causal relationships among variables. The findings indicate that both parking inventory and parking utilization have a positive and significant influence on terminal services and facility improvements. These findings suggest that optimizing the parking function can serve as a basis for planning the integration of the terminal into the port area to enhance user comfort and service efficiency.
