Abstract

Dropshot is one of the trick techniques in badminton, a good dropshot direction falls behind the double line. In badminton athletes aged 11-12 years the dropshot accuracy is still not good, the shuttlecock often falls far from the net or behind the short serve line. Based on these observations, it is necessary to have a form of training to improve dropshot accuracy. This research was conducted with the aim of knowing the effectiveness of strokes training with shadows and audio visual on dropshot accuracy. This study uses a quasi-experimental method, the design used in this study is the Two Groups Pretest-Posttest Design. The research subjects consisted of 14 badminton athletes aged 11-12 years (7 athletes in group A and 7 athletes in group B). With the sampling technique using purposive sampling, data analysis in this study used the t test. The results of this study showed that group A had a significant effect of strokes training with shadow on dropshot accuracy, with an increase in dropshot accuracy of 23.09% compared to the results in group B strokes training with audio visual, the magnitude of the increase in dropshot accuracy was obtained by 16.77%. So it can be concluded that strokes training with shadow has a better effect on badminton dropshot accuracy for athletes aged 11-12 years. Abstract

First-year students experience a transitional phase from school to university. This phase often exposes them to various challenges, especially when observing the fast during Ramadan away from their families, giving rise to psychological dynamics such as fatigue, loneliness, and homesickness that can reduce students’ levels of happiness. Therefore, appropriate interventions are needed to help increase happiness. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of the psychoeducational program ‘A Joyful Fast: A Clinical Psychology Perspective’ in enhancing happiness among first-year students. The study employed a quasi-experimental design using a one-group pretest–posttest approach. A total of 160 first-year students participated. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The results indicated an increase in happiness after the intervention, as evidenced by a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores (W = 2021, z = −7.26, p < .001) with a large effect size (r = 0.67). These findings suggest that the psychoeducational intervention is effective in increasing happiness among first-year students during Ramadan.

Abstract

Indonesian women's football began to develop in 1969 with the formation of the first women's football team. It then began to receive more attention in 2019 with the official competition, namely the women's league 1 (one) created by the PSSI. However, there has been no follow-up women's league activities in Indonesia since the pandemic. The development of Indonesian women's football has not been accompanied by a sustainable coaching system and adequate institutional support at the school, club, and national levels. The availability of scientific data on the physiological and anthropometric characteristics of female players is still limited. Understanding the physiological and anthropometric characteristics of players is crucial in the process of screening potential, developing, training, and coaching athletes to support optimal performance. The purpose of this literature review is to analyze the latest findings related to the physiological and anthropometric characteristics of female soccer players as a basis or reference to support the selection process, athlete development, and the development of appropriate and effective data-based training methods to improve women's soccer performance at the national and international levels. This study uses a literature review approach with a narrative review type. The sources of the articles analyzed were obtained from online databases such as Google Scholar, PubMed, ScienceDirect, Web of Science with keywords combined using Boolean operators namely AND, OR, and NOT. The results of the literature review show physiological and anthropometric characteristics that vary across age groups and player positions. A player's physical abilities and body proportions greatly support performance on the field. Therefore, this literature review can be used as a reference or relevant norm in the selection process, coaching, and training tailored to the profile of each athlete to improve women's soccer performance in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the physical condition profiles of prospective taekwondo athletes at the Banten Province Student Sports Education and Training Center (PPLOP) in 2022 and to serve as a basis for athlete selection. The study employed a quantitative descriptive method using a survey approach. The study population and sample consisted of 10 prospective taekwondo athletes participating in the selection process, comprising 5 male athletes and 5 female athletes. The instruments used included physical fitness tests covering speed (30-meter sprint), agility (shuttle run), strength (push-ups and sit ups), power (standing broad jump and vertical jump), flexibility (sit and reach), coordination (tennis ball throw and catch), and endurance (multistage fitness test). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics in the form of percentages. The results showed that male athletes’ speed fell into the “adequate” category, while female athletes’ speed was in the “good” category. Agility for both male and female athletes was in the “poor” category. Strength components ranged from “good” to “very good” in both groups. Lower-body explosive power, as measured by the standing broad jump, was in the “poor” to “very poor” categories, while the vertical jump was in the “adequate” category. The flexibility of both male and female athletes is rated as very good. The coordination of both groups is rated as very poor. Meanwhile, the cardiovascular endurance of both male and female athletes is rated as good. Overall, strength, flexibility, and endurance are the most prominent components, while coordination, agility, and explosive power still need improvement.

Abstract

Background: flexibility is a crucial factor in injury prevention in explosive sports like volleyball. Hamstring tightness or limited flexibility can increase the risk of musculoskeletal injuries in the lower limbs. Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between hamstring flexibility and injury risk in volleyball athletes from the BVB Banyumas club. Methods: This study used a quasi experimental quantitative method with a one group pretest posttest design. The subjects were 20 active junior volleyball athletes selected through purposive sampling. The research instruments included the Sit and Reach Test to measure hamstring flexibility and the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) to assess injury risk. The intervention, a hamstring stretching exercise program, was implemented for 4 weeks, 3 times per week. Data were analyzed using a t-test with a significance level of 0.05. Results: The results showed a significant increase in hamstring flexibility from 18.75 ± 3.08 cm to 23.85 ± 2.96 cm (p = 0.000) and an increase in FMS scores from 13.45 ± 1.31 to 15.80 ± 1.18 (p = 0.000). In addition, the results of the Pearson correlation test showed a strong negative relationship between hamstring flexibility and injury risk (r = -0.726; p = 0.001), which means that the better an athlete's flexibility, the lower their risk of injury. Conclusion: Regular hamstring stretching exercises can improve flexibility and reduce the risk of injury in volleyball athletes. This research demonstrates the importance of flexibility training in preventive and rehabilitative training programs for athletes.
