Abstract

Service learning has gained recognition as an effective pedagogical approach that bridges academic learning with community service. This study examines the integration of service learning in higher education, evaluating its impact on students’ academic performance, personal development, and community engagement. The research aimed to explore how service learning can enhance students’ practical skills, critical thinking abilities, and social responsibility, while also contributing to the community’s well-being. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining quantitative surveys to assess students’ academic performance and qualitative interviews to understand their personal experiences with service learning. The results indicate that students who participated in service learning programs showed significant improvements in their ability to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world contexts, with 75% of students reporting an increase in problem-solving and teamwork skills. Additionally, service learning fostered a greater sense of civic responsibility, with students expressing a stronger commitment to community service and social justice. The study concludes that integrating service learning into higher education curricula promotes holistic student development and contributes to community-based solutions. The findings suggest that service learning should be further incorporated into educational frameworks to provide students with meaningful opportunities for engagement and personal growth.

Abstract

Higher education institutions are increasingly expected to produce graduates who possess not only academic competence but also social responsibility, civic engagement, and the ability to address complex community challenges. Service learning has emerged as a transformative pedagogical approach that integrates academic learning with meaningful community service, enabling students to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world experiences. Growing emphasis on experiential and community-based learning has intensified interest in understanding the educational value and broader impact of service learning within higher education contexts. This study aims to examine the integration of service learning in higher education and evaluate its contribution to student learning outcomes, civic development, and community engagement. A qualitative research design based on systematic literature review and thematic analysis was employed. Data were collected from peer-reviewed journal articles, institutional reports, policy documents, and educational studies published between 2015 and 2025. Findings indicate that service learning significantly enhances critical thinking, problem-solving skills, communication abilities, social awareness, and civic responsibility among students. Meaningful collaboration between universities and community partners also contributes to reciprocal benefits, including community empowerment and the development of sustainable social initiatives. Institutional support, curriculum alignment, reflective learning practices, and stakeholder collaboration emerged as key factors influencing successful implementation. The study concludes that integrating service learning into higher education strengthens the connection between academic knowledge and social engagement, fostering holistic student development while promoting universities’ contributions to community well-being and sustainable societal development.

Abstract

Architectural engineering in the digital era is increasingly shaped by parametric design methodologies that enable complex form generation and performance-driven optimization. Rapid advancements in computational tools have transformed design processes, yet a persistent gap remains between architectural exploration and structural rationalization, often resulting in inefficiencies and post-design adjustments. This study aims to develop an integrated computational framework that aligns parametric design with structural performance, ensuring that architectural forms are both innovative and structurally feasible. A computational design-based methodology was employed, combining parametric modeling, finite element analysis, and algorithmic optimization across representative architectural typologies. Iterative workflows were implemented to establish continuous feedback between geometric parameters and structural responses. Results indicate that integrated parametric-structural models achieve higher structural efficiency, reduced material consumption, and improved deformation control compared to conventional and non-integrated approaches. Statistical analysis confirms significant performance improvements, while case-based validation demonstrates strong alignment between simulated and expected structural behavior. Findings further reveal that real-time integration enhances design adaptability and decision-making efficiency. This study concludes that the integration of parametric design and structural rationalization represents a robust and scalable paradigm for contemporary architectural engineering, offering significant implications for sustainability, performance optimization, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Abstract

Increasing exposure of infrastructure systems to extreme hazards, aging effects, and climate-induced uncertainties has revealed fundamental limitations of conventional strength- and safety-oriented design approaches. Structural performance can no longer be evaluated solely in terms of damage prevention, but must also account for functionality loss, system interdependencies, and recovery capacity. This study aims to reengineer the concept of structural resilience by developing a multiscale framework that integrates resilience explicitly into performance-based infrastructure design. The research adopts an analytical and framework-oriented methodology, combining critical synthesis of performance-based design theories, structural resilience metrics, and systems engineering concepts. Multiscale linkages are established among component-level behavior, system-level functionality, and network-level performance, with explicit consideration of temporal recovery processes. The results demonstrate that resilience is an emergent and time-dependent system property that cannot be inferred directly from component-level performance indicators. Local strengthening strategies are shown to yield limited resilience gains unless supported by system redundancy, connectivity, and recovery-oriented design. The proposed framework reveals hidden vulnerabilities and recovery bottlenecks that remain unaddressed in conventional performance-based approaches. The study concludes that effective resilience-oriented infrastructure design requires a paradigm shift toward multiscale, system-aware, and recovery-informed performance objectives. Embedding these principles into performance-based design provides a robust foundation for enhancing infrastructure reliability, functionality, and societal resilience under extreme and uncertain conditions.

Abstract

Tropical Asia is home to a rich diversity of species and ecosystems, yet it faces significant threats from habitat loss, climate change, and human activities. Identifying biodiversity hotspots in this region is crucial for prioritizing conservation efforts and ensuring the protection of unique species and habitats. This research aims to evaluate biodiversity hotspots in tropical Asia and establish conservation priorities based on ecological significance and vulnerability. The study seeks to provide actionable recommendations for policymakers and conservationists to enhance biodiversity preservation in these critical areas. A spatial analysis was conducted using geographic information systems (GIS) to map biodiversity hotspots across tropical Asia. Data from various sources, including species distribution records and habitat assessments, were analyzed to identify regions with high biodiversity and significant conservation needs. Stakeholder interviews were also conducted to gather insights on local conservation challenges. The findings revealed several key biodiversity hotspots, including the Indo-Burma region and the Sundaland region, which are critically endangered due to deforestation and habitat fragmentation. The analysis indicated that targeted conservation efforts in these areas could significantly enhance species protection and ecosystem resilience. This study concludes that prioritizing conservation actions in identified biodiversity hotspots is essential for mitigating biodiversity loss in tropical Asia. Collaborative efforts among governments, NGOs, and local communities are vital to developing effective conservation strategies that address both ecological and socio-economic challenges.

Abstract

Workplace happiness is a critical factor that influences employee engagement, productivity, and overall organizational success. Positive psychology interventions (PPIs), which focus on enhancing well-being and personal strengths, have been shown to improve individual happiness. However, the specific connection between PPIs and workplace happiness remains underexplored. Understanding how these interventions impact happiness in the workplace is crucial for organizations seeking to improve employee satisfaction and organizational outcomes. This study aims to explore the connection between positive psychology interventions and workplace happiness. The research investigates whether the implementation of PPIs leads to improved emotional well-being, job satisfaction, and overall happiness among employees. A mixed-methods approach was employed, involving both quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews. Data were collected from 250 employees across various industries who participated in a 6-week PPI program. The findings revealed that employees who participated in the PPI program reported significant increases in workplace happiness, job satisfaction, and emotional well-being. The study concludes that positive psychology interventions are effective in enhancing workplace happiness and can be a valuable tool for organizations seeking to improve employee well-being and performance.

Abstract

Large-scale agriculture in Australia faces various challenges, such as labor shortages, land management efficiency, and suboptimal use of resources. Robotic technology offers innovative solutions to address these problems by automating agricultural processes, such as planting, fertilizing, and harvesting. This study aims to evaluate the impact of the application of robotics technology in large-scale agriculture in Australia, including its impact on productivity, resource use efficiency, and environmental sustainability. The research uses a combined qualitative and quantitative approach. Quantitative data was collected through surveys of farmers in different regions of Australia, while qualitative data was obtained from in-depth interviews with farmers and agronomists. The data collected was analyzed to understand the impact of robotics technology on productivity and resource use. The results show that the use of robotic technology increases productivity by 20% in the wheat and cotton sectors. In addition, the use of sensor-based automated irrigation systems reduces water consumption by up to 30%, while drones for pesticide applications help reduce chemical use by up to 25%. Robotics technology has contributed significantly to improving the efficiency of large-scale agriculture in Australia, both in terms of increasing crop yields and reducing resource use. These findings suggest that robotics can be a sustainable solution for modern agriculture, although more research is needed to evaluate its long-term impact on the environment.

Abstract

Air pollution remains a critical global issue, largely due to emissions from vehicles. Catalytic converters play a vital role in reducing harmful pollutants, but their efficiency can be improved through innovative materials. Nanomaterials have emerged as promising candidates for enhancing catalytic converter performance. This study aims to investigate the application of nanomaterials in catalytic converters to improve their efficiency in reducing harmful emissions. The research focuses on identifying specific nanomaterials that can enhance catalytic activity and longevity. A comprehensive review of existing literature on nanomaterials used in catalytic converters was conducted. Laboratory experiments were performed to evaluate the catalytic performance of various nanomaterials, including metal nanoparticles and nanocomposites, in simulated exhaust conditions. Emission measurements were analyzed to assess effectiveness. Findings indicate that the incorporation of nanomaterials significantly enhances the catalytic activity of converters. Metal nanoparticles demonstrated improved oxidation and reduction reactions, resulting in higher conversion rates of NOx, CO, and unburned hydrocarbons. The study also identified optimal concentrations and combinations of nanomaterials for maximum efficiency. This research highlights the potential of nanomaterials to transform catalytic converters and improve air quality.

Abstract

Ovarian cancer is one of the most lethal gynecologic malignancies due to late diagnosis. Early detection is critical for improving survival rates, yet current screening methods are inadequate. To identify and validate non-invasive biomarkers for the early detection of ovarian cancer, focusing on improving diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes. This study utilized proteomic and genomic approaches, including mass spectrometry for protein profiling and next-generation sequencing for analyzing cfDNA and miRNAs. Blood samples from patients with early-stage ovarian cancer, healthy controls, and individuals with benign conditions were analyzed. The combination of CA-125 and HE4 biomarkers significantly increased sensitivity (85%) and specificity (90%) for early detection of ovarian cancer compared to CA-125 alone. Proteomic analysis identified significant differences in protein profiles between cancer patients and healthy controls. Genomic analysis revealed specific mutations in cfDNA associated with ovarian cancer. The study demonstrates that a combination of CA-125 and HE4, along with multi-omic approaches, can enhance the early detection of ovarian cancer, providing a basis for the development of more accurate diagnostic tests. Further clinical trials are necessary to validate these findings.

Abstract

Background. The digital era has changed the way people consume news, with digital journalism increasingly dominating compared to traditional media. Purpose. This study aims to understand the differences in consumption patterns and public trust in the two forms of media, as well as their implications for the quality of the information presented.   Method. The research methods used are a quantitative approach through a survey and a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews with journalists from both types of media. Results. The results of the study show that younger generations are more likely to use digital journalism because of accessibility and speed, while older generations still trust traditional media because of their credibility and validity. Although digital media is used more frequently, the level of trust in the information presented is relatively lower compared to traditional media. This shows that although digital journalism offers quick access, the credibility aspect is still an issue that needs to be improved. Conclusion. The conclusion of the study is that although digital journalism has changed the face of information consumption, the challenges related to the credibility and validity of information remain significant. This research provides important insights into how speed and credibility can be integrated for a more reliable future of journalism.
