Abstract

This research is motivated by limited research on neologisms, particularly acronyms, in the context of the Indonesian language. The research aims to identify and analyze the processes of acronym formation in the names of culinary items across the Indonesian archipelago. The study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through literature review, interviews, and direct observation. The findings reveal 63 culinary name acronyms, of which 14 have been officially recorded in the Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia (KBBI). Most acronyms originate from West Java Province, particularly the city of Bandung, indicating the richness of local culinary culture and the community’s creativity in generating unique names. The analysis shows that the majority of acronyms consist of two syllables (74.60%), with a dominant phonological pattern of KV–KVK. The process of acronym formation generally involves combining the initial syllabic elements of the words that make up the culinary names, as seen in examples such as “cireng” (from “aci digoreng”, meaning fried tapioca starch) and “cilok” (from “aci dicolok”, meaning skewered tapioca starch). The study also reveals that acronyms are used to simplify pronunciation in everyday communication while simultaneously reflecting local identity. The results of this study are expected to enrich references in ethnolinguistic studies and serve as a consideration for expanding vocabulary entries in the KBBI, particularly for popular acronym-based culinary names. This research contributes to documenting linguistic cultural heritage through traditional Indonesian cuisine.

In the learning plan at least contains learning objectives, learning steps and learning assessments, therefore the learning planning document designed by the teacher based on the teaching module has met these criteria. During the learning process, the first meeting was dominated by lectures, resulting in low student activity. However, in the second meeting, the application of group work in creating folk poetry increased student activity, collaboration, creativity, and self-confidence. However, differences were found between the learning steps planned in the teaching module and classroom implementation, and the use of learning media was still dominated by print media and had not yet utilized technology-based media optimally. Therefore, optimization of learning implementation is needed to be more aligned with the planning and standards of the learning process.
