Abstract

The rapid transformation of the modern world requires early childhood education (ECE) to go beyond basic value transmission by equipping children with visionary and creative thinking skills. This study aims to examine the influence of integrating language and literature-based futurology into the development of an Islamic early childhood education curriculum as a projection of future-oriented education. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design was employed, involving two groups: experimental and control, each comprising 20 children aged 5–6 years in Medan Sunggal District. Data were collected through pretests, posttests, structured observations, and teacher questionnaires, and analyzed using independent t-tests. The results indicate that the experimental group experienced significant improvements in language development, imagination, and Islamic spiritual values compared to the control group (p < 0.05). Additionally, the study found increased empathy and social interaction among children in the experimental group, although this was not a primary research focus. These findings suggest that an Islamic ECE curriculum integrated with language and literature-based futurology can serve as a strategic innovation in addressing the challenges of 21st-century education.

Abstract

This article examines the significance of al-'afwu (forgiveness) in QS. Yusuf: 92 through the lens of emotional regulation. The study focuses on how the phrase "lā tasrība 'alaikumul-yaum" represents the peak of Prophet Yusuf's emotional management regarding his past. This study compares the interpretation of Ibn Kathir, which is bil ma'tsur in style, with the interpretation of M. Quraish Shihab, which follows an adabi ijtima'i (socio-literary) style, using a muqaran (comparative) method and a maudhu'i (thematic) tafsir approach. The research findings indicate that Ibn Kathir emphasizes forgiveness within a theocentric dimension, where emotional regulation is based on surrendering judgment to Allah (tafwidh). On the other hand, M. Quraish Shihab performs a more comprehensive psychological contextualization, viewing al-'afwu as an effort to develop an individual's inner self from the shackles of resentment to achieve shadr al-halim (an open heart). These differences show that while classical tafsir focuses on eschatology (reward and God's forgiveness), contemporary tafsir focuses more on mental health and social reactions. This research demonstrates that the terminology of al-'afwu in the Qur'an is not merely the waiving of legal claims, but rather a Qur'anic tool to stabilize the human condition in facing destiny.

Abstract

The increasing diversity of students' learning readiness, interests, and learning profiles requires mathematics instructional materials that support differentiated learning in vocational education. However, teaching modules specifically designed to facilitate content differentiation remain limited. Unlike conventional mathematics modules that primarily provide uniform instructional content, the module developed in this study explicitly incorporates content differentiation to accommodate variations in students' learning readiness, interests, and learning profiles within vocational education settings. This study aimed to develop and validate a content-differentiated mathematics teaching module that is valid, practical, and effective for vocational high school students. A Research and Development (R&D) approach employing the ADDIE instructional design model (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation) was adopted. The module was evaluated through expert validation involving material, media, and language specialists, while its practicality was assessed using teacher and student response questionnaires. Effectiveness was examined through pretest–posttest achievement data. The findings indicated that the developed module achieved a very high level of validity, with material, media, and language validity scores of 87.47%, 90.00%, and 83.33%, respectively. The module was also perceived as highly practical by teachers (93.65%) and students (87.54%). Furthermore, the implementation of the module significantly improved students' mathematics achievement, as reflected by the increase in the mean score from 64.52 (pretest) to 87.65 (posttest) (p < .001). These findings demonstrate that the proposed module provides an effective instructional resource for implementing content differentiation in heterogeneous mathematics classrooms and offers practical support for promoting adaptive and inclusive learning in vocational high schools.

Abstract

The digital archiving of batik products in vocational tourism environments requires efficient image compression techniques that maintain critical visual information, including complex motifs, color patterns, and texture details. This study aims to investigate the application of Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) as a machine learning based approach for image compression in the digital archiving of batik products from the Sundhullangit Batik Vocational Tourism Village. An experimental research design was adopted using digital batik images obtained through direct image acquisition. The research stages comprised image pre-processing, image compression using a truncated Singular Value Decomposition model with varying rank values, and reconstruction of the compressed images. The performance of the compression model was evaluated using objective image quality metrics, namely Mean Squared Error, Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio, and Structural Similarity Index, while compression efficiency was measured using the compression ratio. The results indicate that higher rank values enhance reconstructed image quality, reflected by lower reconstruction error and higher structural similarity, but reduce compression efficiency. Conversely, lower rank values achieve higher compression ratios at the cost of reduced visual fidelity. Overall, the findings demonstrate that Singular Value Decomposition offers an effective balance between image quality preservation and data size reduction. This study concludes that the proposed method is suitable for supporting sustainable and high-quality digital archiving of batik products within vocational tourism-based cultural heritage systems.

Abstract

A history curriculum dominated by a single narrative tends to ignore the importance of source analysis, context, and causal relationships in history. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the socio-drama method as a representation of a transformative approach to training historical thinking skills. This study uses a qualitative approach with a single case study design at SMA Negeri 6 Yogyakarta. The subjects of this study were the 11th grade history teacher and 6 11th grade students. Data collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, document studies, and enriched literature studies were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. This study produced three important findings, including: (1) The socio-drama model was implemented through three main stages, namely the pre-conception stage, collaborative inquiry, and socio-drama staging stage. To ensure collaboration, there was a division of roles in the form of scriptwriter, narrator, actor, and director adjusted to the characteristics of the students; and (2) Students' perspectives on history changed from rote learning to meaning making; and (3) Implications for historical thinking skills were demonstrated through chronological thinking skills, historical understanding, analysis and interpretation, and historical research skills. The contribution of this research can be a reference for history teachers to develop a transformative approach in history learning, especially training historical thinking skills in order to improve the quality of learning.
