Hypertension is a lifelong disease and treatment can be done using blood and using long-term anti hypertensive agents. The purpose of this study was to determine whether patients could make improvements in hypertensive patients at the Posyandu Srondol Banyumanik elderly. This type of research is quasi experimental design with a sample of 22 respondents, 11 respondents received treatment for elderly gymnastics while 11 respondents received acupressure treatment. The study was conducted once a week for 3 weeks with 60 minutes of elderly gymnastics and 10 minutes of acupressure. The results of this study prove that there were no significant differences in blood pressure before and after treatment. This is evidenced by the value of ρ more than 0.05. In addition from the results of the mean mean difference between acupressure and elderly gymnastics, it can be seen that acupressure is more effective in lowering blood pressure compared to elderly gymnastics. Conclusion: acupressure is more effective in lowering blood pressure than elderly exercise.

Abstract

Stroke is a cerebrovascular disease that increases mortality and long-term disability globally. The incidence of stroke in South Kalimantan reaches 12.7% of all stroke incidents in Indonesia. Stroke most often occurs at the age of 55-64 years and 29.5% occurs in people with low education. Patients with post-stroke are very susceptible to post-stroke depression (PSD), To minimize the risk of PSD in non-pharmacological strategies such as increasing literacy, mental and physical health support. Increasing literacy can be done with health education. The design of this study used a quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest one group test design. The research sample was 20 stroke respondents with a purposive sampling technique. The questionnaire used for stroke literacy used SKAT and PSD used the PHQ-9 questionnaire sheet. The results of this study showed an increase in stroke literacy with a p value of 0.001 and a decrease in PSD with a p value of 0.002.

Abstract

Basic Life Support (BLS) is an essential initial intervention in emergency care to maintain a patient’s vital functions. Nursing students, as future healthcare professionals, need to have strong BLS skills through structured education. This study aimed to determine the effect of Basic Life Support (BLS) education on the skill levels of students in the Nursing Student Association. This research used a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The number of respondents was 30 students selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using an observation checklist of BLS skills before and after the educational intervention. Data analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test to determine differences in skill levels before and after the intervention. The results showed an improvement in students' skills after receiving BLS education. Based on the Wilcoxon test results, the p-value obtained was 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant effect of Basic Life Support (BLS) education on students' skill levels. In conclusion, Basic Life Support (BLS) education has a significant impact on improving nursing students’ skills. It is recommended that BLS education be conducted continuously and in a structured manner to enhance students’ competence in handling emergency situations.

Abstract

Stroke is one of the leading causes of disability and mortality worldwide, including in Indonesia. Older adults with stroke are at high risk of experiencing long-term complications, one of which is falls due to impaired motor function, balance, and physical function. This study aimed to identify the risk factors associated with falls among post-stroke patients in three provinces in Indonesia. This quantitative study employed a cross-sectional design and was conducted in South Kalimantan, Jakarta, and Palembang. The independent variables were fall risk factors, while the dependent variable was the occurrence of falls among post-stroke patients. Data were collected using the Morse Fall Scale (MFS) with an intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) of 0.825, sensitivity of 66.7%, and specificity of 81.6%. A total of 150 post-stroke patients were recruited using purposive sampling and the analysis using Chi Square Test. The analysis showed that, among the eight characteristics examined, four variables were significantly associated with fall risk: age (p = 0.040), sex (p = 0.045), marital status (p = 0.041), and stroke duration (p < 0.001). In contrast, education (p = 0.508), occupation (p = 0.966), health problems (p = 0.166), and body mass index (BMI) (p = 0.123) were not significantly associated with fall risk. These findings highlight the importance of considering demographic characteristics and stroke duration in the identification and prevention of fall risk among post-stroke patients.
