Abstract

Mental health problems among university students have become a growing concern worldwide due to their impact on academic performance and well-being. Although psychological distress among students has been widely studied, findings regarding gender differences remain inconsistent across cultural contexts, particularly in Indonesia. Therefore, this study aimed to examine differences in psychological distress between male and female university students. A quantitative approach was employed involving 353 students selected through accidental sampling. The Rasch Model was used to transform ordinal responses into interval-level measures of psychological distress, while Welch’s t-test was applied to compare groups because of unequal sample sizes between male and female participants. The findings revealed that female students demonstrated higher psychological distress scores (M = -0.94 logits) than male students (M = -1.32 logits), indicating greater psychological distress among female participants. Welch’s t-test showed a statistically significant gender difference in psychological distress (p = .001). These findings suggest that female students may be more vulnerable to psychological distress within academic environments. The study highlights the importance of incorporating gender considerations into student mental health services and developing targeted support programs within higher education institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to improve obedient behavior in early childhood by applying the storytelling method at PAUD Al-Ihmy Medan. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (PTK) with a quantitative descriptive approach. The subjects of this study were 20 early childhood. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation sheets of children's obedient behavior before and after applying the storytelling method. The results showed that storytelling significantly improved children's obedient behavior in each cycle. At the pre-cycle stage, children's obedience was at an average of 57.24% (less category). After applying the storytelling method in cycle I, the level of compliance increased to 63.89% (sufficient category). A more significant increase occurred in cycle II, where the average obedient behavior reached 78.88% (good category). These results show that the storytelling method is effective in instilling obedience values in early childhood. Thus, storytelling can be an innovative learning strategy to shape children's characters early on.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has brought significant changes to the way adolescents think, interact, and shape their identities. This situation requires adolescents to have a healthy digital mindset to be able to use technology adaptively and responsibly. This study aims to analyze the relationship between digital mindset and adolescent mental health in the digital era. The research method used was a descriptive qualitative approach using semi-structured interviews with ten adolescents aged 15–18 who actively use social media. Data were analyzed using thematic techniques to identify patterns of adolescents' experiences and perceptions related to digital media use. The results show that a positive digital mindset—characterized by adaptability, self-awareness, and control over technology use—contributes to better mental health. Conversely, an unhealthy digital mindset is correlated with digital fatigue, anxiety, negative social comparison, and decreased academic productivity. This study emphasizes the importance of digital literacy education, family support, and the role of educators in shaping a healthy digital mindset in adolescents to maintain psychological well-being in the digital era.

Abstract

Visual stimuli are one of the primary sensory stimuli that play a significant role in influencing brain activity and human behavior. From a biopsychological perspective, visual stimuli are not only processed as sensory input but also involve complex neurophysiological mechanisms and psychological processes. This study aims to analyze the influence of visual stimuli on brain activity and its implications for individual perception, emotion, and behavior. The research method used was a literature review, examining various scientific sources including books, national and international journal articles, and relevant research reports. The results of the study indicate that visual stimuli are processed through an organized visual nervous system, involving the primary visual cortex and association areas, and are influenced by cognitive factors such as attention, experience, and emotion. Visual stimuli have been shown to enhance attention, motivation, creativity, and adaptive behavioral responses, particularly in learning contexts. Therefore, the appropriate use of visual stimuli can be an effective strategy in supporting cognitive function and individual psychological well-being.
