Abstract

Abstract

National development is essentially human development as a whole which must start as early as possible, namely from the womb and during infancy. The growth and development of infants and toddlers take place through certain patterns. The first three years from birth are a period in which billions of Glial cells continue to grow to fertilize neurons. Little one's head, but for the fact that the first three years of little one's development are golden periods in the formation of his smart brain. Because the brain grows very rapidly and will reach 70-80% in the first 3 years of your child's life. Based on the nutritional status of children under five (weight/age) in Sragen regency in 2011 there were 84.03% normal nutrition, 1.89% undernutrition, and 0.01% poor nutrition Preliminary study conducted in Nglangak Kwangen village, Gemolong Sragen, namely there are 55 toddlers, there are 4 toddlers who experience developmental disorders. Speech and language disorders of 2 toddlers and 1 toddler with gross motor impairment are toddlers aged 12 months who cannot sit alone without assistance.

Abstract

The menstrual period is one of the triggers for adolescents to experience anemia, characterized by a decrease in hemoglobin levels. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of combining progressive muscle relaxation and cat stretch exercise in improving hemoglobin levels among adolescent girls, a population at high risk of anemia, particularly during menstruation. This study was quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest design with two group designs in June-August 2023. Fifty adolescent girls meeting the inclusion criteria were selected using purposive sampling and proportionally divided into two groups, the progressive muscle relaxation and cat stretch exercise combination group, and the walking group. The Point of care testing (examinations carried out near the patient outside the laboratory) method measures adolescent hemoglobin and hemodynamic levels before and after the intervention. The intervention was given for 4 weeks with weekly monitoring. Data were analyzed using the paired t-test and Mann-Whitney test. The combination of progressive muscle relaxation and cat stretch exercise was effective in increasing hemoglobin levels in both groups with an average increase of 0.484 and 0.184 respectively, but there was no difference in average hemoglobin in the two groups after the intervention (p-value 0.011 and 0.004). Physical activity, such as either the combination of PMR and cat stretch exercise or walking, was proven effective in increasing hemoglobin levels. These findings suggest that both methods have the potential to serve as simple and affordable interventions for reducing anemia in adolescent girls during menstruation.

Abstract

Background: Repeatedly heated cooking oil promotes dyslipidemia and oxidative stress, both major risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Spirulina platensis, a microalga rich in bioactive compounds, has been proposed as a protective agent against these effects. Objectives: This study evaluated the protective effects of Spirulina platensis on dyslipidemia and oxidative stress induced by repeatedly heated cooking oil in Wistar rats. Methods: Eighteen male Wistar rats (220–250 g) were divided into three groups (n=6): a negative control (standard diet), a positive control (standard diet plus heated cooking oil, 2 mL/rat/day), and a treatment group (heated oil plus spirulina, 330 mg/kg BW/day). After 28 days, total cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL-C, LDL-C, atherogenic index, MDA, GSH, and SOD were measured spectrophotometrically. Results: Compared with the positive control, spirulina lowered total cholesterol from 180.0±15.6 to 140.0±9.5 mg/dL (−22.2%, p-value<0.001), triglycerides from 150.0±18.7 to 100.0±10.3 mg/dL (−33.3%, p-value<0.001), and LDL-C from 120.0±16.8 to 80.0±8.7 mg/dL (−33.3%, p-value<0.001). HDL-C rose from 30.0±4.2 to 45.0±6.1 mg/dL (+50.0%, p-value<0.001), while the atherogenic index fell from 5.0±0.8 to 2.1±0.4 (−58.0%, p-value<0.001). Oxidative stress markers also improved: MDA decreased from 7.28±0.92 to 4.33±0.58 nmol/mL (−40.5%), GSH increased from 2.20±0.38 to 3.44±0.46 µmol/L (+56.4%), and SOD from 4.18±0.72 to 6.97±0.83 U/mL (+66.7%) (all p-value<0.001). Conclusions: Spirulina supplementation (330 mg/kg BW/day) significantly attenuated dyslipidemia and oxidative stress induced by repeatedly heated cooking oil, improving lipid parameters by 22–50% and antioxidant status by 40–67%. These findings suggest spirulina has cardioprotective potential against oxidized dietary fats.
