Abstract

Although social media has increasingly been utilized as a medium for voter education, studies evaluating its implementation during the post-election period remain relatively limited. This study aims to evaluate the Sustainable Voter Education Program conducted through Instagram by the Singkawang City General Election Commission (KPU) using the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) evaluation model. The research employed a qualitative evaluative approach with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation studies. Research informants consisted of the Chairperson of the Singkawang City KPU, Instagram administrators, content production staff, first-time voters, university students, Instagram followers, and representatives of youth communities. The findings indicate that, in the context dimension, the program was implemented in response to the community’s need for post-election information related to elections and democracy. In the input dimension, the program was supported by human resources, supporting facilities, planning mechanisms, and educational materials that referred to KPU regulations. In the process dimension, program implementation was carried out through structured stages of planning, content production, verification, and publication. In the product dimension, Instagram was able to reach a broad audience and received positive responses from users. Informants perceived the published content as relevant, easy to understand, and effective in enhancing public understanding of democracy and electoral issues. This study recommends increasing content innovation, optimizing Instagram’s interactive features, and expanding collaboration with various community groups to strengthen the implementation of sustainable voter education programs.

Abstract

The rapid growth of social media has transformed political communication among young people, making Instagram an important digital political space for accessing information, expressing opinions, and participating in democratic processes. This study aims to analyze the use of Instagram as a digital political space among students of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Tanjungpura University, through the lens of political philosophy and to examine its relevance to Islamic Education. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and document analysis and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings indicate that Instagram functions as a digital public sphere that facilitates political information, discussion, and participation. Students perceive freedom of expression as a right accompanied by responsibility, verify political information before sharing it, and recognize the influence of algorithms in shaping political perceptions. The findings are relevant to Islamic Education by reinforcing the values of tabayyun (verification), ṣidq (truthfulness), amānah (trustworthiness), shūrā (deliberation), and al-'adl (justice) as ethical principles for political communication in digital spaces. These findings contribute to strengthening political literacy, digital literacy, and ethical citizenship within the context of Islamic Education.

Abstract

This study analyzes the role of women in sustaining social harmony and strengthening multicultural education within the multiethnic society of Singkawang through a critical literature review approach. By integrating the Feminist Peace Theory and Multicultural Education Theory, this research examines both national and international scholarly works that explore women’s contributions to peacebuilding and multicultural education in Southeast Asia. The review reveals that women serve as cultural mediators, peace educators, and social innovators through interethnic and interfaith engagements such as cultural festivals, interreligious forums, and community-based initiatives. Despite notable progress in promoting multicultural education in Singkawang, gender perspectives remain insufficiently integrated into educational practices. Through a synthesis of the reviewed literature, this study proposes a conceptual framework of Gendered Multicultural Peace Education (GMPE), comprising three interrelated dimensions: women’s empowerment in educational and social leadership, empathy-based interethnic learning, and the integration of gender equality into curricula and school culture. The model underscores the strategic role of women as transformative agents and peace educators in multiethnic societies. The findings provide significant implications for the development of gender-sensitive and inclusive educational policies in Indonesia
