Abstract

Globalization has increasingly affected forest resources and local communities around the world. The growing demand for natural resources driven by global markets has led to both positive and negative consequences for forests and the people dependent on them. Forest ecosystems, crucial for biodiversity and climate regulation, are often threatened by logging, land conversion, and unsustainable practices associated with globalization. The interaction between economic development, environmental degradation, and local community livelihoods has become a critical area of study in sustainable development and environmental conservation. This study aims to examine the impact of globalization on forest resources and local communities, with a focus on both the challenges and opportunities arising from global economic integration. It seeks to understand how globalization influences forest degradation, conservation efforts, and the socio-economic conditions of indigenous and rural populations. The research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative case studies from various regions with quantitative analysis of forest resource depletion trends. Data were gathered from interviews with local communities, government reports, and forest resource databases. Statistical tools were used to analyze the correlation between globalization indicators (e.g., trade volumes, foreign investments) and deforestation rates. The study finds that while globalization has led to economic growth in some areas, it has also accelerated deforestation and degraded local ecosystems. Communities dependent on forests for livelihood have experienced both disruption of traditional practices and exposure to new economic opportunities. However, the benefits of globalization have been uneven, with wealthier communities often benefiting more than the most vulnerable. Globalization presents a complex challenge for forest resources and local communities. Sustainable solutions require a balance between economic development and environmental conservation, with inclusive policies that protect the interests of indigenous and rural populations.

Abstract

Quantum radar is an innovative technology with great potential for detecting hidden objects with high precision. The background of this research is the need for technology that is able to detect objects behind material barriers with better accuracy than conventional radar, especially in search, rescue, and security applications. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of quantum radar in detecting hidden objects based on the type of barrier material, thickness, and detection distance. The research was conducted using an experimental method with a quantum radar prototype that was tested on various types of barrier materials, such as wood, concrete, and metal, in a controlled environment. Data is collected to evaluate the detection accuracy at a specific material thickness and the detection distance is between 1 to 7 meters. Quantitative analysis is used to identify patterns of relationships between material parameters, thickness, distance, and accuracy. The results show that quantum radar has the highest accuracy in wood materials with an accuracy rate of 89%, followed by concrete (78%), and metal (65%). The thickness of the material and the greater detection distance lead to a significant decrease in accuracy. The conclusion of this study indicates that quantum radar is effective for detecting objects behind non-conductive materials, but requires further development to overcome the weaknesses of reflective and long-range materials.

Abstract

Libraries are increasingly recognized as dynamic knowledge hubs that must adapt to rapidly changing user expectations and technological advancements. The traditional service-oriented model of librarianship is no longer sufficient to address the complex and evolving needs of diverse user communities. This study aims to explore how librarians function as innovators by implementing participatory co-creation models to redesign library services. A mixed-method research approach was employed, combining a systematic review of 68 empirical studies with multiple case studies from academic and public libraries. Data were collected through document analysis, interviews, and focus group discussions, and were analyzed using thematic coding and cross-case synthesis. Findings reveal that participatory co-creation models foster a culture of innovation, enabling libraries to develop services that are user-centered, technologically integrated, and socially inclusive. The evidence demonstrates that collaborative approaches increase community engagement, enhance digital literacy programs, and expand the relevance of library services in the digital era. This study concludes that librarians, when positioned as co-creators and facilitators of innovation, can transform libraries into participatory spaces that respond effectively to local and global challenges. Recommendations highlight the need to institutionalize co-creation practices as a strategic framework for sustainable library development.

Abstract

The integration of Shariah law with modern capitalism has been a subject of significant debate, particularly in the context of Islamic banking. In Indonesia, the world’s largest Muslim-majority country, Islamic banking has grown rapidly, offering a unique case study to explore this compatibility. This study examines the alignment of Shariah principles with the practices of modern capitalism in Indonesia’s Islamic banking sector, focusing on issues such as profit-sharing, risk management, and ethical investment. The research aims to identify the challenges and opportunities associated with integrating Shariah law into a capitalist financial system and propose strategies for enhancing this compatibility. Using a mixed-methods approach, this study combines quantitative analysis of financial performance data with qualitative interviews with Islamic banking practitioners, Shariah scholars, and regulators. Data were analyzed to assess the adherence of Islamic banks to Shariah principles, their financial performance, and their role in promoting ethical finance. The findings reveal that while Islamic banks in Indonesia generally comply with Shariah principles, challenges such as profit-driven practices and limited product innovation hinder their full alignment with Islamic ethics. The study concludes that enhancing the compatibility of Shariah law and modern capitalism requires a balanced approach that prioritizes ethical finance while maintaining competitiveness.

Abstract

The increasing complexity of contemporary social and religious issues demands a reformation in how religious education is delivered in secondary schools. Traditional approaches often emphasize rote memorization and doctrinal instruction, limiting students’ capacity for independent thought and engagement with pluralistic perspectives. This study aims to develop a pedagogical framework that integrates critical thinking into religious education through an inquiry-based learning (IBL) approach. Employing a qualitative design, the research was conducted in three secondary schools using classroom observations, semi-structured interviews with teachers and students, and document analysis. The findings reveal that incorporating IBL strategies fosters greater student autonomy, promotes respectful dialogue on diverse beliefs, and enhances cognitive engagement. Teachers reported increased student participation and a deeper understanding of ethical and spiritual concepts when lessons were structured around open-ended questions and real-life dilemmas. The study concludes that a well-structured IBL framework can effectively nurture critical thinking within religious education, making it more relevant and transformative for today's learners. It recommends integrating training modules for educators and adapting curricula to include inquiry-driven content.
