Abstract

The global imperative for low-carbon development necessitates the formal integration of Nature-based Solutions. Mangrove forests, known for their superior carbon sequestration as “Blue Carbon,” offer a crucial asset, yet their economic potential remains severely constrained by valuation and policy standardization issues. This study aimed to develop a standardized Total Economic Valuation (TEV) framework for Indonesian Blue Carbon and analyze the regulatory requirements for its formal inclusion in the national carbon trading policy. A mixed-methods design utilized biophysical data from two major mangrove regions, employing financial modeling (Discounted Cash Flow and Monte Carlo simulations) to calculate TEV, and policy analysis to assess governance readiness. The TEV averaged USD 21,500 ha, nearly three times the carbon-only value, demonstrating the asset’s premium quality and superior financial stability (45% lower IRR volatility). However, a significant governance bottleneck was identified (Policy Alignment Index 65%), primarily due to a centralized Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) system and uncertain community benefit sharing, which actively inhibits market entry. Blue Carbon is validated as a high-integrity, de-risked asset, but its realization depends critically on policy intervention, urging the immediate adoption of the TEV framework and the decentralization of MRV to ensure social equity and accelerate climate finance.

Abstract

The background of this research focuses on the challenges of developing batteries with high capacity, efficiency, and long life. Quantum computing is considered a promising technology for designing new materials that can solve these problems. The purpose of the study is to examine the potential application of quantum computing in the design of battery materials that are more efficient and have better stability. The method used is a quantum simulation to model the interactions of atoms and molecules in various materials that have the potential to be used for batteries, such as lithium-sulfur, graphene, and sodium-ion. The results showed that lithium-sulfur-based materials have a high energy capacity but are less stable, while graphene is more stable with excellent conductivity despite a slightly lower energy capacity. These results provide new insights into the selection of battery materials based on the balance between energy capacity, conductivity, and thermal stability. The conclusion of this study confirms the importance of quantum computing in accelerating the development of more efficient and environmentally friendly battery materials, although further physical experiments are needed to verify the results of quantum simulations.

Abstract

Digital storytelling has emerged as a powerful pedagogical and social tool, enabling marginalized youth to articulate their experiences, build digital literacy, and foster a sense of belonging in increasingly mediated societies. Social exclusion continues to affect vulnerable groups by limiting their opportunities for participation and self-expression, which in turn impacts personal identity and community integration. This study aims to explore how digital storytelling can be employed as an inclusive practice to promote voice, agency, and connection among marginalized youth. A qualitative research design was adopted, using a multiple case study approach with 45 participants from diverse disadvantaged backgrounds, including urban slum communities and rural low-income settings. Data were collected through participatory workshops, semi-structured interviews, and observation, and analyzed thematically. Findings reveal that the process of creating and sharing digital stories enables participants to express personal narratives, develop confidence, enhance collaborative skills, and foster empathy within their peer networks. The study concludes that digital storytelling, when designed as a participatory and reflective practice, can contribute significantly to social inclusion by strengthening the visibility, resilience, and sense of belonging of marginalized youth. The study highlights the need for educators and community organizations to integrate digital storytelling into inclusive educational and community development strategies.

Abstract

E-government platforms like Indonesia’s “Lapor!” citizen complaint system (CCS) aim to enhance public accountability. However, a persistent gap exists between this technological promise and the bureaucratic challenges of ensuring tangible resolution, leading to digital disillusionment. This study evaluates the effectiveness of “Lapor!” and identifies institutional challenges. It analyzes quantitative performance indicators and triangulates them with the qualitative experiences of citizens and government administrators. A sequential explanatory mixed-methods design was used, involving quantitative analysis of 50,000 system records (2023-2024) and 80 semi-structured interviews with citizens and administrators. Findings reveal a low resolution rate (38.7%) and significant delays (Mean response: 14.2 days), statistically linked to inter-agency “ping-ponging.” Qualitative data identified citizen “Digital Disillusionment” and administrator “Institutional Ambiguity” as key explanatory themes. “Lapor!” succeeds as a digital intake system but fails as an accountability mechanism. The ineffectiveness stems not from technology but from unresolved institutional challenges, primarily the lack of an empowered arbiter for inter-agency disputes.

Abstract

Artificial intelligence research has long framed conversational systems as reactive tools responding to human prompts, a view increasingly insufficient to explain recent developments in autonomous AI. The emergence of Agentic AI signals a shift toward systems capable of planning, acting, and evaluating outcomes independently within complex digital environments. This study aims to conceptualize Agentic AI as a distinct paradigm beyond chatbot-based architectures and to examine its implications for human–AI interaction and governance. The research employs a qualitative conceptual design based on systematic analysis of secondary literature, comparative frameworks, and documented case studies of autonomous AI agents. Analytical synthesis is used to examine autonomy, system architecture, and modes of control across implementations. The results demonstrate that Agentic AI exhibits measurable autonomy through goal persistence, multi-step planning, and self-directed execution, enabling performance advantages in complex tasks while introducing new risks of misalignment and responsibility diffusion. Comparative analysis confirms that autonomy emerges from system-level integration rather than model scale alone. The study concludes that Agentic AI represents a substantive transformation in artificial intelligence practice, requiring revised evaluation metrics, governance structures, and theoretical frameworks. Recognizing Agentic AI as an operational actor rather than a conversational interface is essential for design, deployment, and future research.

Abstract

The demand for renewable energy sources has accelerated research into high-efficiency solar cells. Optical materials play a critical role in enhancing light absorption and overall energy conversion efficiency. Understanding the properties and performance of various optical materials is essential for optimizing solar cell technology. This study aims to compare different optical materials used in solar cells to evaluate their effectiveness in maximizing solar energy conversion. The focus is on identifying materials that offer superior optical characteristics and compatibility with existing solar cell technologies. A comparative analysis was conducted on several optical materials, including silicon dioxide (SiO2), titanium dioxide (TiO2), and organic polymers. The study involved synthesizing these materials and assessing their optical properties using UV-Vis spectroscopy and photoluminescence measurements. Efficiency tests were performed on solar cell prototypes incorporating these materials. The findings reveal that titanium dioxide exhibited the highest light absorption and photonic efficiency compared to silicon dioxide and organic polymers. Solar cells utilizing TiO2 demonstrated a significant increase in overall efficiency, achieving conversion rates of up to 22%. In contrast, organic polymers showed lower performance but offered advantages in flexibility and lightweight applications. This research highlights the importance of selecting appropriate optical materials to enhance solar cell efficiency. Titanium dioxide emerges as a leading candidate for high-performance solar cells, while organic polymers may provide alternative solutions for specific applications. Continued exploration of optical materials will be crucial for advancing solar technology and meeting global energy demands.

Abstract

Crohn's disease is one of the inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) whose pathogenesis is still not fully understood. Many studies have shown a link between dysbiosis of the gut microbiome and the development of the disease. However, the specific mechanism linking the microbiota to inflammation in Crohn's disease is still open to further exploration. This study aims to investigate the role of the gut microbiome in the pathogenesis of Crohn's disease, specifically in differentiating the composition of the microbiota in patients with active disease and in remission. This study used a cross-sectional design with a sample of 100 patients diagnosed with Crohn's disease. Fecal samples were collected and analyzed using metagenomic techniques (16S rRNA sequencing) to identify the composition of the microbiota. Analysis of inflammatory biomarkers such as C-reactive protein (CRP) is also performed to assess disease status. The results showed that patients with active disease had a decrease in the number of anti-inflammatory bacteria such as Faecalibacterium prausnitzii and an increase in pathogenic bacteria such as Escherichia coli. In addition, there was a correlation between microbiome dysbiosis and increased CRP levels in patients with active disease. Microbiome dysbiosis has an important role in exacerbating the symptoms of Crohn's disease. This study provides evidence that the management of the gut microbiota can be a new therapeutic approach in the treatment of Crohn's disease.
