Articles on the use of Telehealth technology were searched using topics and keywords related to "Telehealth", "Telemedicine", "Health Service" and "effectiveness". Relevant research was searched using the Boelean formula and filtered for articles published between 2019 and 2025, including PUBMED, CINAHL, and Google Scholar. "Telehealth", "Telemedicine", "Health Service" and "effectiveness". Then from the results of the literature search, the journal is open access, full article, accessible, and downloadable. The author obtained 8 articles that fit the inclusion criteria used in this method, namely: articles using English and Indonesian. Results: Based on the articles collected, the use of Telehealth programs can increase the effectiveness of health services. However, telehealth also has disadvantages, namely the dependence on a stable internet connection and high device capabilities (technological literacy). In addition, health workers cannot perform the direct examinations necessary for an accurate diagnosis. Conclusion:. The use of telehealth needs to be further developed and researched, to determine the frequency and efficiency of its utilization, in order to support health services, especially in the field of palliative care

Abstract

Arteriovenous fistula (AVF) cannulation is a routine procedure for hemodialysis patients that often causes pain, which can compromise patient comfort. One nonpharmacological intervention that can be used to reduce pain is the Valsalva maneuver. This study aimed to determine the effect of the Valsalva maneuver on the level of pain during AVF cannulation in hemodialysis patients at Diponegoro Dua Satu General Hospital in Klaten. This study used a quasi-experimental post-test-only control group design. The study was conducted over one weeks in the Dialysis Unit at Diponegoro Dua Satu General Hospital in Klaten. The population consisted of 88 patients, with a sample of 42 respondents selected using purposive sampling, comprising 21 in the intervention group and 21 in the control group. The instruments included a questionnaire on respondent characteristics, the Valsalva maneuver standard operating procedure (SOP), and a Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) observation sheet. Data analysis utilized the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and the independent t-test. The majority of respondents were male, employed, and had been on hemodialysis for 1–5 years. In the control group, most experienced moderate pain (57.1%), while in the intervention group, the majority experienced mild pain (76.2%). The results of the independent t-test showed a statistically significant difference in the level of AVF cannulation pain between the two groups (p-value = 0.001). The Valsalva maneuver is effective as a nonpharmacological intervention for reducing the level of AVF cannulation pain.

Abstract

Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) undergoing hemodialysis frequently experience anxiety, which can negatively impact their quality of life and treatment adherence. Complementary therapy combining simple acupressure and lemon aromatherapy is suggested to induce relaxation, thereby helping to reduce anxiety levels. This study aimed to analyze the effect of combined simple acupressure and lemon aromatherapy on reducing anxiety levels in hemodialysis patients. A quasi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest control group design was conducted at the Hemodialysis Unit of RSU Diponegoro Dua Satu Klaten in June 2026. A total of 42 respondents were selected using purposive sampling and divided equally into an intervention group (n = 21) and a control group (n = 21). The instruments utilized included Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for simple acupressure, SOPs for lemon aromatherapy, and the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Shapiro–Wilk normality test and the paired t-test. Prior to the intervention, the majority of respondents in the intervention group experienced moderate anxiety (95.2%). Following the combination therapy, anxiety levels significantly decreased, with the majority shifting to mild anxiety (76.2%) and showing a mean score reduction of 6.81 on the HARS scale. Conversely, the control group showed no significant change in anxiety categories, with a minor mean score reduction of 1.24. The paired t-test confirmed that the combination therapy had a statistically significant effect on reducing patient anxiety (p < 0.001). Combined simple acupressure and lemon aromatherapy is effective in reducing anxiety levels and is recommended as a safe, independent complementary nursing intervention for hemodialysis patients.
