Abstract

Pembelajaran pada abad 21 memerlukan keterampilan TPACK yang mumpuni pada guru saat proses pembelajaran dikarenakan tuntutan pada era globalisasi ini. Berbagai penelitian terdahulu telah banyak dilaksnakan pada konteks pendidikan di Indonesia seperti kebermanfaatan penggunaannya di kelas, tantangan yang harus dihadapi, dan pengembangan professional guru untuk peningkatan TPACK. Akan tetapi, penelitian tentang level pemahaman guru terhadap konsep TPACK dan realisasi pemahaman para guru dalam implementasi pembelajaran di kelas belum banyak dilakukan. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginvestigasi pemahaman guru tentang konsep TPACK dan realisasi pemahaman yang diimplementasikan pada proses belajar mengajar di kelas tatap muka. Penelitian ini menggunakan studi kasus dengan melibatkan tiga guru yang sedang mengajar di program studi Pendiidkan Bahasa Inggris. Observasi kelas dan wawancara semi struktur juga dilakukan untuk mengumpulkana data penelitian yang selanjutnya dianalisis menggunakan analisis tematik untuk menggambarkan hasil data penelitian. Data menunjukkan bahwa pada dasarnya para guru memiliki pemahaman konsep TPACK yang bagus akan tetapi mereka tidak mengimplementasikan pemahaman yang mereka miliki karena fasilitas, persiapan pembelajaran dan inisiatif guru. Sebagai kesimpulan, TPACK merupakan kompetensi penting yang harus diimplementasikan pada proses belajar mengajar untuk meningkatkan keterampilan siswa 4C (Komunikasi, Kreatifitas, Berfikir Kritis dan Rasa Keingintahuan). Di samping itu, rekomendasi lebih rinci dan hambatan juga didiskusian.

Abstract

Abstract.This research focuses on speech acts as a significant role in teaching and learning process. In line with this topic, the aim of this research is to find out the types of speech act mostly used by teachers’ and students’ English program. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The data used were the utterances performed by the teacher and students talk in speaking class. Those speech acts are supported by theories of Searle & Suherdi (1976), who find out the use of speech act. From the theory, there are 5 classifications of illocutionary speech act; representative,directive, expressive, commissive, and declarative. The findings show that the classifications of speech acts mostly used by teacher is directive while representative is mostly used by the students. From the findings, teacher’s directive has some involvement toward students’ behavior during teaching and learning process. Besides, the use of representative by students has enhanced their speaking ability. This study concludes that when teacher and students used the speech acts, it helpsthem comprehend the message in every utterance and easy to understand when communication. Hopefully, this study will help develop good classroom communication between teachers and students.

Abstract

This article describes conservation and cultural perspectives from various disciplines based on research from various disciplines. The description is categorized into three parts; conservation and culture of applied science and health, conservation and culture of social science and humanity, conservation and culture of business and entrepreneurship. Natural sciences, health, social humanities, business, and entrepreneurship have all contributed to the conservation of natural resources and the environment, according to the results of journal article searches. Conservation in applied science promotes environmental, water, agricultural, biodiversity, and wildlife conservation, as well as land preservation and building reuse. Conservation can be accomplished through management and strategies derived from indigenous peoples' traditions with implications for nature conservation. The use of environmentally friendly health infrastructure is part of conservation in the health sector. Conservation is the study of the relationship between human interaction and the environment in a society in order to achieve a better life in the field of social sciences and humanities. Conservation strategy, policy, and education are important studies on conservation issues in the social sciences and humanities. Furthermore, conservation strategies are critical for identifying efficiency and conservation in support of development integration and disaster mitigation. Conservation and local wisdom-based education is a learning process that aims to raise environmental and cultural awareness and concern. In particular, conservation and local wisdom-based entrepreneurship education is a promising topic to be studied and researched further to generate various businesses that support environmental and cultural preservation.

Abstract

Program Adiwiyata di Madrasah Ibtidaiyah MI Handapherang memiliki potensi untuk ditingkatkan, terutama pada aspek konservasi energi dan pengelolaan sampah. Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk membekali guru-guru MI Handapheran dengan keterampilan dalam memanfaatkan teknologi ramah lingkungan, yakni teks berjalan bertenaga surya dan mesin pencacah botol plastik, sebagai media pembelajaran yang inovatif. Melalui serangkaian kegiatan sosialisasi, pelatihan, dan pemanfaatan teknologi, hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa lebih dari 80% peserta pelatihan mampu mengoperasikan kedua alat tersebut dan memahami potensinya sebagai media pembelajaran matematika dan bahasa. Dengan demikian, pengabdian ini diharapkan dapat berkontribusi pada peningkatan kualitas program Adiwiyata di MI Handapherang serta mendorong penerapan prinsip-prinsip keberlanjutan di lingkungan sekolah.

Abstract

This research reported the issues of using Georgina's podcast on Spotify to improve students' listening skills. This research aimed at figure out the improvement of the students' listening ability in listening skills by using the Spotify application as a tool that focused on listening to Georgina's podcast in subject asking and giving directions. In doing so, the subjects consisted of 20 students who were in tenth grade. The researcher applied a mixed methods design, which type is the embedded design. The instruments were a test and a questionnaire. The sample was taken by using a random sampling technique. The results of the test and the related comparisons, findings showed that Georgina's podcast on Spotify is effective to improve students' listening skills. This can be seen from the mean results of the pre-test was 30.00 and the post-test was 86.67 with the t-test value orientation is greater than the t-table (12.3912.110). As a result of this fact, the post-test score in the class was significantly different after going under the treatment. To sum up, Georgina's podcast on Spotify is an effective medium to improve students' listening skills in subject asking and giving directions. However, the success of podcasting depends on the teacher's ability to use Spotify and the selection of appropriate material in a way that guides students to achieve their learning goals.

Abstract

Multimodal Pedagogy Flipped Classrooms (MPFC) are well regarded for professional, pedagogical, and practical contributions to classroom practices in global context. Yet, Indonesian education setting has not provided significant attention, and the implementation of MPFC should be cultivated further for its benefit in language learning. Therefore, the present study investigates the impact of the MPFC to promote students' performance of speaking skill, measure the relationship of speaking ability and their level of autonomy, and exploring students' perception of MPFC implementation. The study conducted a mixed method which involved sixty students learning English as a foreign language from a private university in Indonesia and 6 selected students for interviews data collection. The quantitative research mediated MPFC for experimental class and product-based approach for control class while the qualitative research design using classroom observation and semi-structured interviews. The obtained data were analyzed using independent t-test and ANOVA for quantitative purpose, and thematic analysis to interview. The results show a profound difference in students' speaking from the pretest (M=77.00 SD=4.85) to the post-test (M=80.90 SD=3.12). Moreover, the relationship between their speaking skill and autonomy reveal betterment after MPFC implementation (t-value 0.003). Students perceive positively toward this pedagogical intervention including their experience, challenges, and their strategy to cope with challenges found. The implications and recommendations of the study are also discussed.

Abstract

Teacher and students can utilize technology-based learning media, such as the Canva. The aim of this study was to explore the use of Canva as a digital tool in English language learning. The study was conducted at a senior high school in Tasikmalaya. Qualitative case study was applied as data collection methods were research question observations and interviews. The researcher conducted observation and interviews to five students from class X-9. Semi-structured interview data were collected through one-on-one interviews and audio recordings for further analysis. The findings indicate that Canva has a positive or effective influence to improve students’ mastery of writing skills. Moreover, the findings suggest that students perceive Canva to be a potentially beneficial tool for improving their writing skills, digital literacy, and creativity. However, the results of the study revealed that students’ perceptions about Canva were various. Despite the challenges encountered by students, most of students perceived it as being a potential benefit to improve their writing abilities. The teacher further support the use of Canva for creating student greeting cards, demonstrating its effectiveness in enhancing their design skills and personal expression. In conclusion, the findings suggest Canva is a popular and influential medium for students, giving them a chance to express themselves, enhance their language abilities, and discover new talents. In addition, incorporating structured educational interventions or guided Canva assignments may prove beneficial in supporting students’ language learning journey through Canva. Understanding the influence of cultural and societal factors on students’ Canva preferences can foster cross-cultural communication and enhance their English language development.

Abstract

Listening in a foreign language can be challenging for learners. In the present era of education, technology plays a crucial role in facilitating learning through various tools. Mobile apps that utilize TED Talks for language learning can offer an innovative and effective approach to improving language skills. This research aims to investigate how students learn extensive listening through TED Talks and to determine the benefits of using TED Talks in extensive listening classes. This research is a case study under the approach of qualitative research and using case study. Participants in this research consisted of fourteen students majoring in English education at one of the higher education institutions in Ciamis, who were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The data collection method used in this current study included questionnaires, interviews, as complementary methods. To confirm the analysis of reliability, the researcher used a source of triangulation data by collecting, sorting, interpreting and concluding data. The results of research on the use of TED Talks to stimulate listening skills extensively showed that 50% of the students chose "interesting" and 50 % of the students chose “Translation” and “Transcription” as strategies for learning using TED Talks. The results of the questionnaire analysis showed that the use of the TED Talks method was effective in helping students with extensive listening. From the results of interviews, students stated that the TED Talks were recommended tools for learning material to stimulate extensive listening skills. It can be concluded that TED Talks can improve students' ability to develop extensive listening skills, stimulate their English listening, and motivate them to learn more.

Abstract

This community service is intended to provide solutions to the problems experienced by a partner named UMKM Usaha Laksana Mandiri (MSMEs Usaha Laksana Mandiri), namely the low marketing literacy of trade. In implementing the objectives of this community service, an instructional method is adopted which has three stages of implementation, namely 1) socialization of the use of online sales media, 2) training in making designs and packaging goods, and 3) training in inputting data on goods to be sold in the admin menu. After going through several stages, there are several positive results from the implementation of this community service, including 1) understanding the use of online marketing information technology, 2) attractive product packaging strategies, and 3) sales skills through online marketing media by UMKM Usaha Laksana Mandiri.

Abstract

Early childhood education is an important period in a child's development. During this time, children are curious and enjoy learning through play. This is the perfect opportunity to impart various knowledge and skills, including English, science and mathematics. The Sustainable Food Yard (P2L) in Adiwiyata schools can be an effective medium to improve the English, science and maths literacy of early childhood students. P2L provides a contextual and fun learning space for students to learn about various things such as plants and the environment. This community service activity was aimed to 1) Provide field learning experiences through plant media; 2) Improve English literacy skills through contextualised plant media integrated with learning; 3) Raise awareness among RA Miftahussalam students about eating vegetables that can be grown on limited land; 4) Raise awareness about the importance of protecting the environment; 5) Support Adiwiyata schools in achieving their goal which  was encouraging the creation of knowledge and awareness among school members in environmental protection efforts through the environmental care and culture movement at school. This activity was carried out using the mentoring method. The team assisted RA Miftahussalam students and teachers in learning how to plant on limited land, learn English, science and basic mathematics with plant media and use the results. The result of this community service gave students and teachers experience of good practices from P2L activities by planting and eating vegetables grown around them. The results of this assistance become a reference for innovative learning at the RA Miftahussalam to be further developed to support environmentally friendly behavior at Adiwiyata schools.
