Abstract

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease with a high prevalence that requires long-term therapy. Rational use of antihypertensive drugs, both generic and branded, is an important aspect of healthcare services, especially for inpatients. This study aimed to evaluate the comparison between generic and branded antihypertensive drug prescriptions among inpatients at the Pharmacy of Siti Hajar Islamic Hospital Mataram in 2023. This research employed a descriptive method with a retrospective approach based on prescription data analysis. The results showed that generic drug prescriptions were more dominant than branded drugs, in line with cost-efficiency policies and the National Health Insurance program. However, branded drugs were still prescribed in certain cases requiring specific clinical considerations. In conclusion, antihypertensive prescribing patterns in the hospital tend to favor generic drugs, although branded drugs remain necessary in specific clinical situations.

Abstract

Prescription writing is a crucial part of healthcare services and directly related to patient safety. Non-compliance with prescription writing can lead to medication errors, which impact the quality of care. This study aims to analyze the level of physician compliance in writing prescriptions for outpatients at Mataram City General Hospital. This study used a quantitative descriptive method with a cross-sectional approach. The study sample consisted of 200 prescriptions, which were analyzed using prescription completeness indicators based on pharmaceutical service standards. The results showed that physician compliance in writing prescriptions was quite good, with a compliance rate of 78%. However, incompleteness was still found in several components, such as the dosage, the doctor's signature, and the patient's identity. The conclusion of this study suggests that increased supervision and education are needed to improve physician compliance in writing prescriptions to ensure patient safety.

Abstract

Candida albicans infection is an opportunistic fungal infection commonly found in individuals with weakened immune systems, including patients with diabetes mellitus. Hyperglycemic conditions in diabetic patients may increase the risk of microbial growth, including fungal infections in the urinary tract. This study aimed to describe the profile of Candida albicans infection in urine of women with diabetes mellitus at Mujur Public Health Center, East Praya, in 2023. This research used a descriptive method with a retrospective approach based on laboratory data and medical records. The samples consisted of urine from female patients with diabetes mellitus who met the inclusion criteria. Laboratory examination was performed using microscopic analysis and culture on Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (SDA). The results showed the presence of Candida albicans in several urine samples with specific characteristics. This finding indicates that patients with diabetes mellitus have a higher risk of fungal infection in the urinary tract.
