Abstract

This study aims to analyze the potential of user-generated content (UGC) in promoting tourism in Gili Islands. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, this research identifies and analyzes visual content uploaded on social media by various tourism stakeholders in Gili Islands. Direct field surveys revealed that UGC has successfully cultivated a positive image of Gili Islands as an attractive tourist destination, particularly regarding its natural beauty, activities, and culinary experiences. This content not only serves as personal branding but also as an effective organic promotional tool in attracting potential tourists. Furthermore, the study uncovers a gap between users' technical capabilities in utilizing social media and their understanding of the potential of social media as a tourism promotion tool. Based on these findings, this study recommends further efforts to enhance the digital literacy of tourism stakeholders and encourage the optimal utilization of social media in promoting Gili Islands. Key Words: Visual content, user-generated content, social media, organic promotion, Gili Island

Abstract

Serangan Village, as a coastal area, generates a large amount of shell waste that has the potential to be processed into products with economic value. This community service program aims to enhance the capacity of Ayu & Bagus Collection MSMEs in Serangan Village through eco-craft innovations based on marine shell waste. The implementation methods include needs assessment, training, mentoring, and the provision of supporting facilities. The training covers product design based on local wisdom, business management, digital marketing strategies, and the use of technology in production and promotion. In addition, the community service team provided various supporting tools, such as production and finishing equipment, funded by a grant from the Directorate of Research, Technology, and Community Service, Directorate General of Research and Development, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, in the 2025 Fiscal Year. The results indicate an increase in product quantity, improved skills of partners in producing more creative eco-craft designs, more structured business management, and better utilization of digital media for marketing. The provision of equipment also supports business sustainability by accelerating production and improving product quality. This program contributes directly to the empowerment of MSMEs and environmental preservation through the utilization of shell waste. Thus, the collaboration of training and facility provision demonstrates a potential model of community empowerment through eco-craft that is competitive, sustainable, and rooted in local potential.

Abstract

Abstract - Words are meant to serve as bridges, not walls. However, within the current landscape of political communication in Indonesia, public officials' statements often deepen the divide between the ruling power and the people. This study examines how state officials’ communication—through unequal and non-empathetic rhetoric—creates dissonance that erodes public trust. Employing a qualitative approach grounded in an interpretive-critical paradigm, this research analyzes ten official statements drawn from national media coverage in 2025, where political communication failed to respond to social realities in a just and humane manner. The theoretical framework employed includes Agenda Setting Theory, Symbolic Domination, and Crisis Communication. Critical discourse analysis is used to uncover hidden layers of meaning embedded in official rhetoric, dissect power relations, and understand the dynamics of social representation constructed within the digital public sphere. The findings reveal that the pattern of politically insensitive communication within Indonesia's current administration, as reflected in digital mass media, accelerates the degradation of governmental legitimacy, amplifies digital resistance, and widens the gap between the state and its citizens. In a world increasingly connected through technology, it is ironically fractured emotionally. This research serves as a reminder that genuine democracy can only flourish in a communicative space that is equal, honest, and empathetic—across both digital and physical platforms of information exchange. Keywords: political communication; social dissonance; crisis of representation; digital public sphere; civic resistance.
