Abstract

Pak Gino Tofu Factory in Wonogiri still experiences product quality problems, including defects in shape, texture, color, and taste, which may reduce product quality and customer satisfaction. This study aims to analyze product defects, identify their causes, and propose improvements using Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Six Sigma. A mixed-methods approach was employed. SPC analysis utilized check sheets, P-Charts, Pareto charts, and fishbone diagrams, while the Six Sigma approach followed the DMAIC framework. Root causes were analyzed using the 5 Whys method, and improvement priorities were determined through Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA). The results show that shape defects were the most dominant, followed by texture, taste, and color defects. The main causes were related to human factors, methods, materials, machines, and the work environment. Proposed improvements include developing SOPs, providing operator training, strengthening process supervision, improving raw material control, and conducting regular equipment maintenance to reduce defects and improve product quality.

Abstract

Surakarta City faces a significant annual increase in vehiclevolume, prompting the local government to develop a BusRapid Transit-based public transportation system, BatikSolo Trans (BST), supported by a Feeder service thatconnects residential areas with the main corridor. However, the Feeder service still faces various complaints, includinginaccurate arrival times, long waiting times, limited fleetavailability, and safety and security aspects that needimprovement. This study aims to design a decision supportsystem for determining priorities for improving the BSTFeeder service in Surakarta City using the AnalyticalHierarchy Process (AHP) method. Data were obtained fromfour expert respondents, consisting of one supervisorymanager and three drivers, selected through purposivesampling using pairwise comparison questionnaires basedon Saaty's 1-9 scale. The results identified three maincriteria, namely Safety and Security, Punctuality, and FleetAvailability, with Fleet Availability obtaining the highestweight of 0.6638 (66.38%). All pairwise comparisonmatrices were consistent, with a Consistency Ratio (CR)below 0.1. The Global Priority synthesis shows that DriverTraining and Supervision ranks first (0.450; 45%), followedby Schedule Improvement (0.334; 33.4%) and Fleet Addition(0.216; 21.6%), indicating that improving driver humanresources should take precedence over adding new fleetunits.

Abstract

PT Eco Smart Garment Indonesia (PT ESGI) is a garmentmanufacturing company that has implemented anEnterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system based on SAP(System Applications and Products). However, the processof generating sample shipment documents within theShipping Department still faces inefficiencies due torepetitive manual procedures and data redundancy.Administrative staff must perform manual data entry, resulting in a cycle time of 30–40 minutes per shipment anda human error rate of 10–15% per cycle. This study aims todesign a semi-automation blueprint for sample shipmentdocuments within SAP using the Enterprise ArchitecturePlanning (EAP) approach to enhance the efficiency andaccuracy of the shipment administration process. Theresearch methodology follows Spewak’s EAP framework, encompassing an analysis of the existing state, a gapanalysis, data architecture design using Entity RelationshipDiagrams (ERD), and application architecture design in theform of an integrated DHL Report within SAP. The researchyields a semi-automation blueprint featuring an integrateddata architecture based on the "single source of truth"principle, a system architecture comprising an SAP DHLReport add on, and a new workflow that eliminatesredundant manual activities. Implementing this blueprint isprojected to reduce document generation cycle time from30–40 minutes to 15–20 minutes per shipment, minimizehuman error to near-zero levels, and eliminate the need forintermediate Excel files. This study contributes to thedevelopment of information system architectureframeworks within the garment manufacturing sector andserves as a strategic guide for the company’s digital transformation toward more efficient and integratedbusiness processes.

Abstract

Micro-scale bag manufacturing businesses often facechallenges regarding the management of manualproduction systems, leading to workflow imbalances. Thisstudy focuses on a bag-making MSME in Sukoharjo thatoperates on a made-to-order basis with a single-operatorsetup. The primary issue is a critical bottleneck at thepattern-making stage, which consumes up to three hours—equivalent to 37.5% of the total daily production time for a single custom bag. This results in a buildup of Work-in-Process (WIP) inventory and reduced production flow efficiency. The study aims to identify the production process flow, pinpoint bottleneck locations, and design simulation-based improvement scenarios to optimize production capacity. The methodology integrates Value StreamMapping (VSM)—to map material and information flows ata macro level—with FlexSim software to dynamically andstochastically simulate manual processing time variability. The proposed improvement strategy focuses on a low-cost,high-impact approach through managerial interventions inworkload management (line balancing), avoiding the needfor significant investment in physical assets. The digitalsimulation results from FlexSim are expected to provide arealistic visualization for minimizing work queues, increasing operator utilization, and maximizing dailyproduction output in a manner that ensures the operationalsustainability of the MSME.
