Abstract

Mastering Arabic language is essential for Muslims as the language serves as a fundamental tool to understand and implement Islamic values. It is due to the fact that sources of these Islamic values, as in al-Qur'an and Sunnah, are accessible primarily through Arabic language. Both formal and informal education undertakings to master the language are then encouraged in this community. In connection to the dissemination and internalization of child-friendly values, it is necessary that the teaching of Arabic be carried out within this framework. Using descriptive analysis as the method, this paper discusses how these values may work in an Islamic environment such as Darunajah Islamic Boarding School. Data collection is done through observation, in-depth interviews, library research, and triangulation. In this study, components of Arabic language teaching which include educators, students, material, learning processes and evaluation, are put in relation to child-friendly values. The study shows that formal teaching of Arabic in Darunnajah Islamic boarding school has been in line with the framework of child-friendly values, in the part of educators while dealing and manage their students, also in the part of the textbooks and teaching materials, their contents, oral drills and presentation, also in the part of learning and evaluation processes.

Abstract

Language teaching and error analysis are integral in Arabic language education, particularly evident among fifth-grade students at SD Tunas Harapan Ar-Raudhah, who face challenges in mastering Arabic pronunciation. These errors occur due to differences between the Indonesian and Arabic sound systems, which cause difficulties. This study included a total of 9 students as its sample group and focuses on analyzing pronunciation errors made by fifth-grade students of SD Tunas Harapan Ar-Raudhah to find out what letters often have errors in pronunciation and find out the factors that cause these errors, as well as finding and providing specific treatments to overcome and reduce the percentage of student errors. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with simak catat technique. The results showed 116 errors in Arabic consonant pronunciation (75.8%) during the pre-test, with the highest errors in three letters: dza, qaf, and 'ain. During the post-test, there were 37 errors (24.2%); this shows that the percentage of student errors decreased. The findings underscore the importance of tailored interventions in addressing pronunciation difficulties and contribute to refining language teaching strategies. Future research should explore alternative methodologies and replicate the study with larger student cohorts to enhance generalizability across diverse educational settings, further advancing effective Arabic language instruction

Abstract

The poems of Asy-Syafi'i, rich in linguistic artistry and profound moral messages, contain implicit meanings that reflect essential pedagogical values. Understanding the implicatures in these poems provides deeper insights into the educational messages conveyed indirectly. This study examines the contemporary pedagogical aspects embedded in the poems of Asy-Syafi'i. The purpose of this research is to analyze these implicit contemporary pedagogical messages using implicature theory, offering deeper insights into how Asy-Syafi'i’s poems promote moral, spiritual, and intellectual development. The methodology used is a descriptive qualitative approach with a pragmatic framework. The study involves text analysis and a literature review to identify the implicatures within the poems. This approach allows for a comprehensive understanding of the underlying contemporary pedagogical values that are often subtly conveyed. The results of the analysis reveal that Asy-Syafi'i’s poems emphasize the importance of manners, dedication, and moral purity in the pursuit of knowledge. The implications of this research suggest that by exploring the implicatures in Asy-Syafi'i’s poetry, readers can gain a deeper understanding of Islamic contemporary pedagogical values. These findings contribute to the broader field of Islamic literature and education by highlighting how literary works effectively transmit values that shape personal development and educational practices.

Abstract

This research aims to describe and analyze the strategy used in translating Dīwān al-Imām al-Syāfi`ī. All analyzed data were taken from the translation of Dīwān al-Imām al-Syāfi`ī using dynamic equivalence technique. The method used in conducting this research is distributional review, starting from describing, filtering, classifying, and analyzing the data. Analysis process starts from choosing the translation strategy used in translating the text, then classify each data based on the strategy. After that, the classified data is being analyzed by stating which strategy category is used and what would probably be the reason for the translator to chose that specific strategy. The result shows that there are four translation strategies used by the translator in translating Dīwān al-Imām al-Syāfi`ī. Those translation strategies are replacing words order (taqdīm wa ta’khīr), loss (inqāṣ), gain (ziyādah), and substitution (tabdīl). For loss and gain strategies, there are another two categories which are avertable and inavertable. Based on the result of the analysis, the researcher then conclude that the main reason for the translator in choosing to use these strategies is the presence of linguistic and non-linguistic differences. Linguistic difference is indicated at patterns of sentence, uslūb and the dilālah between the two languages. As for the non-linguistic difference is related with cultural differences between the two languages.

Abstract

Abstract

Ta’lim Muta’alim is Syaikh al-Zarnūjī’s opus that consists of norms, ethics, and rules for gaining knowledge based on Islamic teachings. Thus, claimants of science could reach their goals to obtain it. This book was translated by Achmad Sunarto into Indonesian language and published by Husaini Publisher in Bandung. After reading it totally, researcher found mistakes in translation, especially mistakes in words selection (diction) in translation. And after analyzed it, researcher formulate the mistakes into 4 parts, (1) translation that is the result of direct transliteration from SL without considering its compability in TL, (2) existence of information loss and gain that effects the translation itself and makes it unsuitable, (3) choosing a word which is not suit with the meaning reference from the source text, (4) translation is unacceptable in TL because it is translated literally.
