Abstract

Holistic health is a relevant approach to addressing the complexities of modern public health. The integration of modern medical science and Islamic spiritual values offers a framework for health management that encompasses physical, mental, social and spiritual aspects. This article examines the concept of ‘Smart Islamic Wellness’ as a model for holistic health management training that integrates modern medical science with the values of Nusantara Islamic Education. The method employed was a literature review using a descriptive qualitative approach. The findings indicate that Nusantara Islamic Education possesses unique characteristics that integrate Islamic values with local wisdom, making it suitable for development into a holistic health model based on local wisdom. This integration has been shown to enhance the overall effectiveness of health management. The Smart Islamic Wellness model comprises four main pillars: physical health based on evidence-based medicine; mental health through a psychospiritual approach; social health through community values; and spiritual health through religious practices. In conclusion, this integration offers a contextual and sustainable holistic health management approach for the Indonesian people.

Abstract

This research aims to explore Ibn Khaldun's thoughts about Islamic education and its relevance to contemporary Islamic education. Ibn Khaldun, through his work "Muqaddimah," presents an in-depth view of education which includes teaching methods, educational goals, and the role of science. This research uses a library study method, with analysis of primary texts by Ibn Khaldun as well as secondary literature that discusses his thoughts and applications in contemporary Islamic education. The research results show that Ibn Khaldun's educational concepts, such as the integration of religious knowledge and general knowledge, moral and character development, as well as an adaptive and holistic teaching approach, are very relevant to the challenges of today's Islamic education. These findings indicate that the educational principles put forward by Ibn Khaldun can be adapted to improve the quality of contemporary Islamic education, so that it remains relevant and effective in facing the dynamics of the modern era.
