Abstract

This study examines the integration of the concepts of ilm (knowledge) and amal (practice) in Islamic education based on Imam Al-Ghazali’s perspective at MTs Zainul Irsyad Probolinggo. The objective is to analyze how the balance between cognitive knowledge and behavioral practice contributes to the formation of insan kamil (perfect human) within an educational setting. This research employs a qualitative approach with a field study method, involving observation and documentation of religious learning and habituation activities. The findings indicate that the integration of ilm and amal is manifested through classroom theory implementation, routine congregational prayers, and consistent character guidance provided by teachers acting as role models (uswah hasanah). The school succeeds in transforming theoretical knowledge into daily positive habits, thereby strengthening students' moral, spiritual, and intellectual balance. The study concludes that education must go beyond academic achievement to prioritize character formation through the consistent practice of religious values. This integration serves as a significant model for creating a generation that is not only intellectually proficient but also morally responsible, ensuring that knowledge remains a guiding light rather than a mere burden.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between reading habits and students' academic achievement at SDN Jorongan 1 Probolinggo. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through literature review, observation, and interviews involving the principal, teachers, and students. The findings revealed that the school's literacy program has been implemented systematically through reading activities in the library, book review activities, and the integration of literacy into classroom learning. Students demonstrated a higher interest in reading at school due to the availability of adequate library facilities, a conducive learning environment, and continuous guidance and motivation from teachers. In contrast, students' reading habits at home tended to decline due to excessive use of smartphones, online games, and limited parental supervision. The results indicate a positive relationship between reading habits and students' academic achievement. Students who regularly engage in reading activities tend to have better comprehension of learning materials, broader vocabulary, and higher academic performance. Therefore, continuous collaboration between schools and parents is essential to foster a strong literacy culture and support the improvement of students' learning achievement
