Abstract

Applying natural science methodologies to the social sciences causes a crisis in science. A crisis of science means the narrowing of researcher subjectivity so the possibility of research heuristics is drastically reduced. Martin Heidegger a philosopher of existentialism tried to solve this problem by developing a method that integrated schools of phenomenology and hermeneutics. This research aims to describe the hermeneutics situation method which embodies the two things above. This research is a type of library research that is descriptive and qualitative. The important value and novelty of this research is that it examines the closeness of philosophy and social science through Martin Heidegger’s way of thinking. A researcher does not live in isolation, he is connected to the context of life in which he lives. The context of life motivates researchers to see the meaning of something. In social research, researchers do not just meet social facts, but meet appropriate events (ereignis). So, social researchers are advised to avoid two things when conducting social research in the context of hermeneutics situation, namely the principle of subject-object division and the value-free principle. The reason is a presumption that a researcher was involved in the surrounding environment which then becomes the object of his research, even before conducting the research. This involvement is what makes the researcher able to understand the object of his research.

Abstract

This research explores the intersection of artificial intelligence in financial technology and Umer Chapra's Islamic economic philosophy, focusing on ethical implications. Through a qualitative descriptive approach and comprehensive literature review, the study analyzes how AI-powered financial systems can be designed and implemented to uphold the Maqasid al-Shariah, emphasizing justice, equity, social responsibility, and fulfillment of human needs. Findings suggest that AI has the potential to enhance financial decision-making, promote ethical conduct, and address social issues like poverty and unemployment, aligning with Chapra's principles by improving credit assessments, fraud detection, and personalized financial advice. The study concludes that integrating AI in Fintech with the Maqasid offers an opportunity for greater economic stability and social responsibility by prioritizing the preservation of religion, life, intellect, lineage, and property, while acknowledging the need for robust governance frameworks to mitigate potential ethical challenges and ensure responsible AI development.

Abstract

This paper delves into the existential dialogue between Fang Yuan and Bai Ning Bing, two central characters in the xianxia novel Reverend Insanity. Through Heideggerian lens, researcher examine understanding of existence, mortality, and the pursuit of meaning. Fang Yuan, a seasoned cultivator, embodies a mature understanding of Being-in-the-world, accepting death and living authentically. In contrast, Bai Ning Bing grapples with his own mortality and seeks a path to meaning. By analyzing their dialogue, researcher explore themes of freedom, authenticity, and the role of the other in shaping individual identity. This paper argues that the dialogue between these two characters offers a profound exploration of the human condition and the challenges of finding meaning in the world.

Abstract

CRITICAL THEORY AND THE END OF HISTORY THESIS: A COMPARATION Rifqi Khairul Anam

Abstract

This paper examines the contrasting perspectives of the Frankfurt School and Francis Fukuyama on the direction and purpose of human history. The Frankfurt School, a group of critical theorists, offered a radical critique of modernity and capitalism, arguing that history is a continuous process of struggle and change driven by underlying societal contradictions. They view liberal democracy as a form of domination and advocate for a radical transformation of society. In contrast, Fukuyama's "end of history" thesis posits that liberal democracy represents the final stage of human political evolution, marking the end of ideological conflict. This paper explores the fundamental differences between these two perspectives, particularly their views on history, ideology, and the potential for social change.

Abstract

Anthony Giddens's structuration theory serves as a pivotal framework in contemporary social theory, illuminating the intricate relationship between human agency and societal structures. Central to this theory is the "duality of structure," a concept that dissolves the binary opposition between structural determinism and radical individualism by demonstrating how structures simultaneously constrain and are reshaped by individual actions. This study applies structuration theory to the sociology of knowledge, exploring how it explains the processes of knowledge production, dissemination, and institutional dynamics. Through a structured library research methodology, the study synthesizes theoretical and empirical insights across disciplines such as organizational studies and information systems, employing core concepts like agency, recursive practices, and time-space distanciation as analytical tools. The findings underscore the theory's adaptability to complex sociological phenomena, revealing its power to reconcile agency-structure tensions while situating knowledge within its historical and cultural contexts. By leveraging Giddens's framework, the study offers a nuanced understanding of social practices, empowering individuals to critically engage with and transform their sociocultural environments.

Abstract

Peter M. Blau's social exchange theory remains strikingly relevant for understanding social interactions in Society 5.0, a digitally driven era where core concepts like rewards, costs, profit, and power are amplified and redefined online. This analysis demonstrates the theory's enduring power to illuminate digital phenomena such as e-commerce, the sharing economy, online labor markets, and social media dynamics, revealing user motivations and platform behaviors through an economic lens. While requiring adaptations to incorporate algorithmic mediation, expanded digital resources, and ethical concerns inherent in hyper-connected digital exchanges, Blau's framework provides a vital and insightful lens for navigating both the opportunities and challenges of social life in Society 5.0, offering a robust foundation for analyzing the complex interplay of social and economic forces shaping this new societal paradigm.
