Abstract

The aim of this article was developing learning material for Civic Engagement Education based on ecological and cultural wisdom. The object of the study was the Central Sangga Buana Karang farmer community. The theoretical approaches that are considered relevant are those that are anthropological, ecological, and biological in nature. The results of the study show that Jakarta, apart from being the center of the economy, politics-bureaucracy, education and culture, as well as the center for the development of science and technology, is generally also the center of urbanization from various motives and backgrounds (migration). As a result of migration and population development that is not in line with geographical conditions, environmental and demographic management are to be separate problems that cannot be resolved by DKI Jakarta Government. For instance, the rampant illegal settlements have caused damage and pollution to the environment. However, in the South Jakarta area, especially in the Pesanggrahan Karang Tengah River watershed, there was a protected urban forest area that has been successfully managed by Sangga Buana volunteers using an ecological and cultural wisdom approach. This community efforts can be developed as one of the study materials for Community Citizenship Education. Keyword: Sangga Buana Community, Civic Education, Ecology Wisdom

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate and compare the effectiveness of the Wordwall-based Problem Based Learning (PBL) model and traditional lecture-based learning in enhancing students' critical thinking skills. Proficiency in critical thinking is crucial for effectively analyzing issues and proposing viable solutions. The PBL approach is particularly suited to developing students' critical thinking abilities by stimulating their cognitive skills and fostering consistent critical thinking practices. The research employed a quantitative methodology within a quasi-experimental framework, utilizing a non-equivalent control group design with 35 students in both the experimental and control groups. Data collection involved tests and observations, and analysis included descriptive analysis and prerequisite tests for normality and homogeneity. The statistical analysis used a paired sample t-test. Findings revealed significant differences between the experimental and control groups, with the experimental group showing higher average n-gain values (0.57 vs. 0.07) and percentages (56.85% vs. 6.70%), indicating greater effectiveness in improving critical thinking skills.

Abstract

The spirit of solidarity as an Asian-African Conference (KAA) historical value should be exemplified and internalized in the form of youth character development. Solid and effective involvement through understanding the nation’s historical struggle as the basic value of youth initiation becomes a form of positive engagement and solidarity. Positive solidarity should be able to minimize the meaning deviation of solidarity that is often the case among younger generation. This study aims to describe the analysis of role transformation in youth involvement in the realizations of rights, obligations, and responsibilities, as well as participating in local, national, regional, or international levels by not leaving their national identity. The research used qualitative approach with a case study method. Data was collected by interviews, observations, and documentation studies. The result shows that the nation's spirit of past struggle and commitment were manifested in a new format of youth involvement in the Sahabat Museum Konferensi Asia Afrika (SMKAA) community. The spirit of Asian African Conference’s solidarity is considered still relevant nowdays and transforming into a renewed spirit of togetherness, struggle, relinquishing subjectivity and united spirit. SMKAA, through its program, has transformed the KAA’s abstract history into concrete dissemination of values, i.e equality, cooperation, and coexistence. Youth involvement nowdays needs to be based on the spirit to examine the nation’s historical struggle, to strengthen and develop literacy, which will be an important asset. The spirit of solidarity mindset needs to be regenerated today to achieve future expectations. Keywords: Asian African Conference, young citizen involvement, solidarity spirit ABSTRAK Spirit solidaritas sebagai nilai historis Konferensi Asia Afrika (KAA) sepatutnya diteladani dan diinternalisasikan dalam implementasi pengembangan karakter warga negara muda. Keterlibatan yang solid dan efektif melalui pemaknaan sejarah perjuangan bangsa sebagai nilai dasar inisiasi warga negara muda menjadi bentuk keterlibatan dan solidaritas yang positif. Solidaritas yang positif selayaknya mampu meminimalisir penyimpangan makna solidaritas yang banyak terjadi pada generasi muda. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menggam-barkan analisis transformasi peran keterlibatan warga negara muda dalam perwujudan hak, kewajiban, tanggung jawab, serta terlibat aktif pada level lokal, nasional, regional, maupun internasional dengan tidak meninggalkan identitas kebangsaan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus yang dilakukan dengan teknik pengum-pulan data berupa wawancara, observasi, dan studi dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menun-jukkan bahwa spirit perjuangan bangsa pada jaman dahulu serta komitmen kebangsaan terwujud dalam format baru keterlibatan warga negara muda pada sebuah komunitas, yaitu Sahabat Museum Konferensi Asia Afrika (SMKAA). Spirit solidaritas KAA dinilai masih relevan hingga saat ini dan bertransformasi menjadi semangat terbarukan berupa kebersa-maan, semangat perjuangan, melepaskan subjektivitas, dan semangat bersatu. SMKAA melalui program kegiatannya telah mentransformasikan sejarah KAA yang bersifat abstrak menjadi konkret dengan penyebarluasan nilai-nilai KAA, yaitu kesetaraan, kerjasama, dan hidup berdampingan. Keterlibatan warga negara muda hari ini perlu dilandasi pula oleh spirit untuk mengkaji sejarah perjuangan bangsa Indonesia. Memperkuat dan menumbuhkan literasi dalam spirit solidaritas akan menjadi modal yang penting. Pola pikir spirit solidaritas (the past as the memories) perlu ditumbuhkan kembali saat ini untuk meraih harapan-harapan ke depan (the future as expecatation). Abstract

Nowadays local and national cultures are gradually left behind. Cultural artifacts—while having beyond-physical meaning, even moral and cultural identities—are no longer maintained neither have philosophical attraction. Exploration of philosophical values ​​in huma betang can be a step to revitalize culture in order to strengthen Indonesians’ cultural moral identity. Huma Betang is commonly known as "the big house". Dayak people—a traditional ethnic group in Borneo—with diverse religions and beliefs have been inhabiting the houses for a long time in harmony and peace. This research used qualitative approach with ethnographic method. Research was located in Betang Toyoi Tumbang Malahoi, Rungan District, Gunung Mas Regency, Central Borneo province. For the Dayak people, huma betang is more than just a place to live; it is the center of Dayak's life structure. Cultural identities reflected are that huma bentang: 1) as a reflection of tolerance; 2) as the origin of unity and togetherness among Dayak people after the Tumbang Anoi peace agreement; 3) as a replica of communal system adopted by Dayak people; 4) contains cosmological patterns that reflect a balance of values; 5) as a reflection of democratic and egalitarian life; 6) through the pattern of life in it delivers the concept of Dayak’s leadership; 7) represents the collective principle; 8) as the ideal model of a pluralist community system. Keywords: huma betang, cultural morality identity, Dayak ethnic group, Central Kalimantan ABSTRAK Dewasa ini benda cagar budaya seolah tidak lagi memiliki daya tarik filosofis dan tidak terpelihara, padahal benda cagar alam mengandung pemaknaan yang lebih dari sekedar fisik, bahkan merupakan identitas moral kultural. Eksplorasi nilai filosofis pada huma betang dapat menjadi langkah revitalisasi kebudayaan guna memperkuat identitas moral kultural warga negara Indonesia. Huma Betang dikenal secara luas dengan istilah “rumah besar”. Rumah ini ditinggali orang Dayak sejak jaman dulu dengan beragam agama dan kepercayaan di dalamnya, namun penghuninya tetap hidup berdampingan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode etnografi. Lokasi penelitian adalah di Betang Toyoi Tumbang Malahoi Kecamatan Rungan Kabupaten Gunung Mas Kalimantan Tengah. Bagi masyarakat Suku Dayak huma betang tidak hanya sekedar tempat tinggal, tapi merupakan jantung dari struktur kehidupan orang Dayak. Identitas kultural yang terefleksi yaitu huma bentang: 1) sebagai refleksi kehidupan masyarakat yang toleran; 2) sebagai asal mula tumbuhnya rasa persatuan dan kebersamaan antar suku Dayak setelah kesepakatan damai Tumbang Anoi; 3) sebagai replika sistem komunal yang dianut masyarakat Suku Dayak; 4) mengandung pola kosmologi yang mencerminkan keseimbangan sebuah nilai; 5) sebagai cerminan kehidupan demokratis dan egaliter; 6) melalui pola kehidupan melahirkan konsep kepemimpinan Suku Dayak; 7) merepresentasikan prinsip kolektif; 8) sebagai model ideal sistem masyarakat pluralis.
