Abstract

The Momongi tradition is a local tradition that continues to be preserved by the community of Kembang Kuning hamlet, Rejosari Village, Kalikajar District, Wonosobo Regency as an expression of gratitude for the birth of a child. This tradition is carried out through food almsgiving on the child's birthday (weton) based on the Javanese calendar. Along with social and cultural changes, the Momongi tradition faces challenges in maintaining the sustainability of its values, particularly in relation to the development of adolescents' religious character. Therefore, this study aims to examine the meaning, forms, and pocesses of the Momongi tradition, to identify the values contained within it, to analyze how these values are received by the community, and to explore the contribution of the Momongi tradition to the development of adolescents' religious character. The research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Werw data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving community leaders, parents, and adolescents in Kembang Kuning Hamlet. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the Momongi tradition contains religious, social, and moral values, including faith, gratitude, social concern, togetherness, and responsibility. These values are positively received by the community and play a sole role in shaping adolescents' religious character through processes of role modeling, habituation, and internalization of values within the family and community environment. The contribution of this research to the field of scholarship lies in strengthening studies on local wisdom as a medium for religious character education and as an effort to preserve local culture within the context of socio-religious education.
