Abstract

Islam is a religion that is adopted by the majority of Indonesian people and is believed to be a guide to life in order to obtain salvation in the world and in life after death. It makes a significant contribution to the initial process of negotiations to formulate the nation's philosophy of life, namely Pancasila. As a life guideline, the Pancasila nation and state are the main reference to conceptualize the sovereignty meaning which is then derived into International Law owned by Indonesia. This article uses the approach of discourse analysis in the implementation of Islamic values in the ideology of Pancasila. Islam's most important contribution to Pancasila is the 'monotheism' element which is the essence of Islamic teachings. Therefore, the dichotomy of Islam and Pancasila, or Islam and Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia (NKRI) becomes no longer relevant.

Abstract

The fourth industrial revolution (industry 4.0) has prompted major changes and challenges in all sectors, including governments. A recent theory explains that one of the challenges is changing needs for public services, requiring appropriate responses from the governments, both at national and regional levels. Departing from this situation, this study seeks to explore the readiness of regional governments to respond to the challenges. Through e-service assessment over applications developed by the Government of Malang Municipality, Malang Regency, and Batu Municipality (Greater Malang), document analysis, and focused group discussion, this study reveals several drawbacks of e-services, namely personnel’s readiness, users’ preparedness, flexibility, integration among applications, lack of socialization, weak support and commitment from leaders, low budget, and infrastructure constraints. These findings confirm previous studies on barriers to e-service delivery. This study also strengthens previous researches on the readiness of governments to meet the challenges of the revolution regarding the importance of administrative innovation initiatives and the role and commitment of leaders. Grounded on the logic beyond the implementation of e-services, this study offers an academic framework concerning the categories of regional governments’ preparedness to deal with the revolution’s challenges, namely the level of readiness for initiation, development, and sustainability.

Abstract

Political science is increasingly focusing on the study of leadership factors in its field scope. Therefore, the primary objective of this article is to systematically analyze the use of leadership theories in scholarly publications of political science. This paper also underscores the lack of leadership theories or concepts in political science, offering insights to anyone interested in examining leadership in this academic discipline. This study introduces an alternative framework for analyzing leadership, specifically emphasizing political leadership. Thus, the question addressed in this study is: What leadership theories are applied to the study of political science? This study utilizes the systematic literature review approach, except for the Appraisal Quality stage, to examine political leadership theory and the notion of utilization as discussed in political science. The ROSE protocol is employed in this study due to its suitability for mapping and qualitative studies. Furthermore, PICo is used to formulate research questions in the context of this study. The results of this study, which involved the review of 75 papers, revealed the implementation of leadership theories and concepts in 15 distinct contexts or focus areas. The analysis of leadership in political science places significant emphasis on the dimensions of transformative and transactional leadership styles. Both leadership styles are frequently used in various research contexts. Overall, the prevalence of transformative and transactional leadership theories in political science can be understood as a reflection of the constraints political scientists face in comprehending the nature of leadership within a political context from a scientific standpoint.

Abstract

The euphoria of the Indonesian election has been replaced by an escalation of the conflict that is increasingly evident in society. The community seems to be looking for gaps in political figures and making jokes, both opponents and friends, even parties who are not part of the horizontal political conflict vortex. There is a phenomenon in a society where political events are used as material for good jokes and come from mistakes, politicians' mistakes become laughing stock, even being distributed as material for jokes together. The crisis of empathy is thought to make this phenomenon appear in society, but personality can also encourage the emergence of this behavior. This study aims to determine the role of empathy and personality in this case the big five personalities of voters against schadenfreude in election voters. Empathy is measured by the Interpersonal Reactivity Index scale, schadenfreude is measured by Schadenfreude, while the Big Five Inventory (BFI) scale is used to measure personality. 330 respondents were obtained in this study. This study uses a simple regression analysis and stepwise regression. The results of this study indicate that there is no role of empathy for schadenfreude in voters. Big Five Personality Traits have a stimulating role and a partial role towards schadenfreude, namely agreeableness, neuroticism, and openness traits. While the stimulant role between the Big Five Personality Traits on empathy was found in, there is a role partially between the traits agreeableness, neuroticism, conscientiousness, and openness to Schadenfreude to voters.

Abstract

The appearance of Dr. Tirta's participation in tackling the Covid-19 pandemic went viral on social media. This study positions Dr. Tirta as an everyday maker in governance. The aim of this research is to fill the research gap in everyday maker studies, namely exploring everyday makers in a digital context. This research uses an online-based case study method that collects data from online sources. The data analysis technique consists of three stages, namely observation, combining and grouping. This study succeeded in looking at the everyday maker in the digital world, namely the form of work in the digital world and the transformation of the everyday maker concept in the digital space as follows; First, do it yourself reinforcement. Everyday makers no longer need a large number of members to create a movement because they are assisted by the digital context of the virtual world. Second, local coverage from conventional everyday makers who face local problems can now reach things that everyday makers could not reach before. Further discussion is needed regarding the effectiveness of social media for everyday makers, in other words, regardless of the influencer's identity, they do not have social capital.

Abstract

Indonesia’s economic diplomacy focuses on three main activities: trade, tourism, and investment. Indonesia has also begun to seek expansion in non-traditional markets such as the Middle East region by conducting economic diplomacy. The Indonesian government receives assistance from the Indonesian Trade Promotion Centre (ITPC) in the Middle East Region, specifically ITPC Jeddah, to facilitate the implementation of trade as a component of economic diplomacy activities. However, since COVID-19 hit, conventional diplomacy activities have shifted to digital diplomacy. Various exhibitions are conducted online; even business matching can only be done via teleconference. In addition, ITPC Jeddah has also begun to utilize social media, especially Instagram, to expand and increase awareness of the Middle East community’s superiority of Indonesian trade commodities. Through Kishan Rana’s four stages of economic diplomacy, this research explains how Indonesia’s digital economic diplomacy patterns are reviewed through the ITPC Jeddah Instagram account. This research will later produce how ITPC Jeddah conducts its digital diplomacy and determine whether ITPC has used its social media optimally as a tool for digital economic diplomacy.
