Abstract

Using a mobile application that is featured with local public transit information can greatly improve user action, as well as assisting travelers to have a better experience while taking public transit services. Crowd environment inside a public transit is one of the most frequent causes that lead difficulties to passengers when they engaging their mobile devices to access their apps or in some conditions. Finding crucial information such as stops points and remaining time to interchanges point when switching to another line becomes more difficult in those conditions especially for foreigners who new in a particular region. This study presents the combination of a mental model and a usability approach to construct a user journey map that led to new insights on user's experiences and challenges when utilizing their mobile local transit application. This valuable information is a part of the elicitation process to propose an alternative interaction method to enhance the usability and travel experience of the public transit app. The experimental results indicate that in contrast to the existing mobile transit app, the proposed interface with the utilization of a wearable device could considerably enhance user action when trying to reach the desired location in terms of total time and performance. It implies that the proposed solution, which works through the mental model and user journey is able to intuitively enhance the public transit app usability.

Abstract

Augmented Reality (AR) technology is one of the educational applications that may be created. AR is a learning tool that may be used to integrate virtual things or objects into a natural environment to engage in real-time. English is a foreign language that must be learnt. For language assistance, pupils must acquire a sufficient command of vocabulary via reading and listening exercises. Two factors contribute to the ineffectiveness of oral communication: pupils who do not have enough vocabulary knowledge and students who do not know how to employ vocabulary non their spoken language. One of the learning media that has been developed is the AR-based English vocabulary learning application which was developed in early April 2020 to September 2020. This application aims to help elementary school students (6-12 years) in learning English vocabulary. Where in the current learning which is due to the pandemic thus making distance learning. The purpose of this study is to measure the usability of the application whose vocabulary has been developed from three aspects, namely effectiveness, efficiency and user satisfaction (ISO 9241). The results of the research conducted show that the usability level of this application is 89% effectiveness, 94% efficiency and 91% user satisfaction. So that this learning application can be said to have good usability and can be used as a supporting medium for learning English vocabulary for children aged 6-12 years independently.

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the readiness of regional governments to engage with the fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0), especially in e-service delivery. In the era of Industry 4.0, governments are increasingly considered public service centres that are evaluated for their ability to provide expanded services in the most efficient and individual ways. This research applied an eservice model survey by evaluating indicators of e-services about maturity values on a user-based website or mobile device applications. Assessments of e-service in three regional governments in Greater Malang reveal flaws in personnel readiness, user preparedness, flexibility in e-service procedures and requirements, integration among applications, lack of socialization, weak leader support and commitment, low budgets, and infrastructure constraints. Guided by these discoveries, unlike with theory, this study proclaims the importance of digital wisdom involving empathy, simplicity, compromise, creativity, and humility in public service. This study also formulates the digital values of political leadership transformation, public need-based digitalization, immediate resolution, changes in digital governance networks, digital wisdom, and interregional connectivity in public services. Finally, the study expands on the theory that governments can exceed preparedness by incorporating digital wisdom and values to drive public service.

Abstract

A Regional Hospital in East Java has implemented a Hospital Management Information System, namely SIMRS, in their data management system but has experienced problems in the form of slow system response when accessed by many users, was experienced in the last years when the system had been running for four years since 2016. The system’s slow response causes hospital services to be disrupted and also the quality of service to decline. So, an analysis to the existing database system is carried out, which includes an analysis of the system‘s database performance. Since many SIMRS use database servers on their data processing, then their applications will be based on executing queries and stored procedures (most of the queries are stored in stored procedures). So that, analysis of those queries will be carried out. The optimization process will include analyzing and mapping the database’s queries, profiling, and analyzing the Actual Execution Plan. By doing so, it is known which parts of the query are causing a decrease in performance and time system response. Based on the analysis results, recommendations are given for improving and rewriting several stored procedures and query statements, and the system response time is getting better.

Abstract

The fourth industrial revolution (industry 4.0) has prompted major changes and challenges in all sectors, including governments. A recent theory explains that one of the challenges is changing needs for public services, requiring appropriate responses from the governments, both at national and regional levels. Departing from this situation, this study seeks to explore the readiness of regional governments to respond to the challenges. Through e-service assessment over applications developed by the Government of Malang Municipality, Malang Regency, and Batu Municipality (Greater Malang), document analysis, and focused group discussion, this study reveals several drawbacks of e-services, namely personnel’s readiness, users’ preparedness, flexibility, integration among applications, lack of socialization, weak support and commitment from leaders, low budget, and infrastructure constraints. These findings confirm previous studies on barriers to e-service delivery. This study also strengthens previous researches on the readiness of governments to meet the challenges of the revolution regarding the importance of administrative innovation initiatives and the role and commitment of leaders. Grounded on the logic beyond the implementation of e-services, this study offers an academic framework concerning the categories of regional governments’ preparedness to deal with the revolution’s challenges, namely the level of readiness for initiation, development, and sustainability.

Abstract

Indonesian people should actively preserve Indonesian culture. A way to preserve Indonesian culture can be done by using Javanese scripts as a local content subject at elementary to middle school level. In the conventional learning method, almost all teachers teach writing Javanese manuscript with conventional instructional media by using a white board. We proposed a mobile application that can help students to learn how to write Javanese script in attractive way by using their finger. Since this application still in prototype stage, further study and analysis of the usability of this application are necessary to validate the feasibility in real implementation. Usability testing using USE questionnaire had been conducted to find out if application of Javanese script writing can be accepted by users. We give 30 questions about usability to 5 respondents that are familiar with android application. The result show that, the proposed application is acceptable to users in term of Usefulness, ease of use, ease of learning and satisfaction.

Abstract

Agriculture is an important sector in Indonesia. Farming are how most people make a living within the population [1]. Currently, access to consult with agricultural experts is something that farmers don't have as a privilege. The combination of technology and agriculture needs to be developed to make it easier for farmers to consult. Botani Mobile Apps is an Android-based application that has been developed by the Faculty of Agriculture UB. The purpose of this application is to facilitate farmers in agricultural cultivation. User experience is how a person feels when using a product, system, or service [2]. User experience evaluation needs to be done to measure the success of a product design and to get user feedback for further improvement. One method of evaluating user experience is UEQ (User Experience Questionnaire). Evaluation of user experience of the Botanical mobile application using UEQ will be discussed in this study. Based on the results of the UEQ that have been carried out, the 26 questions asked had an average value of more than 1. After grouping the questions on the 6 UEQ Scale, the average results of calculation showed that all scales are in the green area. Based on UEQ characteristics, the highest scores were Attractiveness, Pragmatic and Hedonic qualities, respectively. All the results of the characteristic values were more than 1. Based on the Benchmark calculation, showed that the Attractiveness, Efficiency, Dependability and Novelty scales had good scale results and the Perspicuity and Novelty scales got above average scale results. Based on all the results of the UEQ evaluation, it can be concluded that the user experience on the BOTANI application is good.
