Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to describe the use of sentences in the news text of class VIII B SMP Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP academic year 2018. This type of research is qualitative research with descriptive methods. The research entry is the news text writing of class VIII B students, amounting to 28 texts from 28 people. Data collection is done through documentation studies. Data were analyzed by referring to the Miles and Huberman models with steps, namely (1) doing data reduction, (2), displaying data, and (3) making conclusions and verification (conclusion drawing / verification). Based on the results of the study, the use of sentences used in the text includes single sentences and compound sentences. The use of single sentences was found 105 (57%) of 183 sentences as research data. Whereas, compound sentences were found 78 (42%) of 183 sentences as research data. The use of sentences based on single sentences is found 81 (76%) verbal predicate sentences of 105 single sentences, 8 (8%) numeral predicate sentences of 105 single sentences, 7 (7%) nominal sentences of 105 single sentences, 6 (6%) sentences the sentence has an adjunctival predicate of 105 single sentences, and 3 (3%) prepositional prediction of 105 single sentences. Then, the use of sentences based on compound sentences found 41 (53%) compound sentences equivalent from 78 compound sentences and 37 (47%) multilevel compound sentences from 78 compound sentences. Kata kunci: Teks Berita, Penggunaan Kalimat

Abstract

Clutter in thinking is the basis for innovation and creation. Coherent thinking can be realized if one's knowledge base is properly constructed and harmonious. To hone this, universities exist through their demands of students by requiring scientific writing products to be graduated. The problem is, do students have a tendency to think coherently in writing scientific papers? To find out, this study comes with the aim of exploring and describing the synthesis ability and thinking patterns of Jambi University students from the introduction of the approved thesis proposal. Synthesis and thinking patterns are considered two aspects that support systematic thinking in the activity of creating new knowledge. That way, this research is qualitative descriptive with snow ball sampling. Then, it was analyzed by referring to the model of Miles and Huberman. The results showed 1) 27.9% (the highest number) of paragraphs contained one reference, 2) 70% found the essence of each argument that supports the main idea, 3) on average, arguments were found in the form of examples, illustrations or supporting data, 4) 75% of students functioned the counter arguments, 5) on average the students had explained and confirmed their position in research, 6) there were 16 transitional words between sentences and 1 transition word between sentences that were used, and 7) Students showed a tendency to use deductive thinking patterns (causality, for example , enumeration, process, and contrast) in deciphering the arguments. Keywords: scientific writing, synthesis skills, thinking patterns Abstrak Keruntutan dalam berpikir menjadi dasar munculnya inovasi dan kreasi. Berpikir secara runtut dapat diwujudkan bila basis pengetahuan seseorang terkonstruksi dengan tepat juga harmonis. Untuk mengasah hal itu, perguruan tinggi hadir melalui tuntutannya kepada mahasaiswa dengan mempersyaratkan produk karya tulis ilmiah sebagai kelulusan. Persoalannya, apakah mahasiswa telah memiliki kecenderungan berpikir runtut dalam menulis karya ilmiah? Untuk mengetahuinya, penelitian ini hadir dengan tujuan mengeksplorasi dan mendeskripsikan kemampuan sintesis dan pola berpikir mahasiswa Universitas Jambi dari bagian pendahuluan proposal skripsi yang telah disetujui. Sintesis dan pola berpikir dianggap dua aspek penyokong kesistematisan berpikir dalam aktivitas penciptaan pengetahuan baru. Dengan begitu, penelitian ini bersifat kualitatif deskriptif dengan pengambilan data secara snow ball sampling. Kemudian, dianalisis dengan merujuk model Miles dan Huberman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan 1) 27,9 % (jumlah terbanyak) paragraf mengandung satu referensi, 2) 70% ditemukan intisari setiap argumen yang sudah mendukung gagasan utama, 3) rata-rata telah ditemukan argumen berupa contoh, ilustrasi atau data pendukung, 4) 75 % mahasiswa memfungsikan kontra argumen, 5) rata-rata mahasiswa telah memaparkan dan menegaskan posisinya dalam penelitan, 6) ada 16 kata transisi antarkalimat dan 1 kata transisi antarpargraf yang difungsikan, dan 7) Mahasiswa menunjukkan kecenderungan menggunakan pola berpikir deduktif (kausalitas, contoh, enumerasi, proses, dan kontras) dalam menguraikan argumennya. Abstract

The map of Indonesian literature has always been dominated by the Minang people. It is no wonder that portraits of Minangkabau people are easily recognizable because they are reflected in the great works of their writers. For example, Sitti Nurbaja's romance, Mistakes in Upbringing, Drought, People of Blanti, and Tangled. In this phenomenal work, what is interesting is the understanding of multiculturalism surrounding the development of the storyline. It marks that multiculturalism has become a national problem that must be solved and fought for. What needs to be questioned is whether the multicultural idea has been successfully fought for so that multicultural conflicts are no longer visible in Minangkabau society today. Therefore, this study aims to describe the responses of the characters contained in the novel. Then, the social reality contained in the text is further described and analyzed to then be compared with the conditions of Minangkabau society today. To realize this goal, this study incorporates the theory of sociology of literature which is supported by the theory of conflict and integration as well as semiotics with the heuristic reading method. The term multicultural refers to cultural diversity. In this diversity, cultural phenomena are certainly not free from conflicts as a result of the intersection of different cultures. Furthermore, integration is used as a solution to resolve conflicts that occur. Therefore, this type of descriptive qualitative research is used. From the results of the study, researchers have found no more dimensions of multiculturalism such as (1) the dimension of conflict which is the root of the emergence of multiculturalism, (2) the dimension of liberating oneself from the culture of seclusion, (3) the dimension of manifesting the status of sutan or high-ranking people who may have multiple wives. , (4) dimensions of manifesting the status of sutan or high-ranking people who do not have the obligation to provide for their wives and children, (5) dimensions of eradicating how to treat wives as slaves, and (6) dimensions of gender equality.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan problematika yang dialami oleh anak tunarungu dalam keterampilan produksi bahasa baik secara lisan maupun tulisan dan solusi yang dapat digunakan. Metode yang digunakan yaitu kajian kepustakaan dengan menggunakan literatur berupa artikel yang terbit di berbagai jurnal pada kurun waktu 5 tahun terakhir, yaitu sejak tahun 2021 hingga tahun 2025 yang memiliki kajian mengenai bahasa anak tunarungu. Artikel yang digunakan berjumlah 15 artikel yang kemudian ditelaah dan dikaji. Adapun hasil dari penelitian ini adalah ditemukan bahwa anak tunarungu mengalami permasalahan berupa kesulitan pengujaran huruf konsonan, huruf vokal, kesalahan pelafalam kata dan produksi kalimat. Pada tataran kalimat anak juga masih belum memahami struktur kalimat yang benar terutama pada kalimat tanya, sehingga sering terjadi kesalahan urutan struktur dan penghilangan elemen fungsional kalimat. Beberapa metode dan media dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan bahasa produktif anak tunarungu seperti metode audiolingual, phonetic replacement, index card match. Selain metode tersebut dapat pula digunakan media berupa flashcard dan media writeable.

Abstract

The study that wants to be analyzed is how the construction and negotiation of intersectionality are built in “Seperti Dendam, Rindu Harus Dibayar Tuntas” and the suggestive implications of educational values. Therefore, the mimetic approach is used as the basis for analysis in this study. The social reality related to intersectionality reflected by the author in his novel entitled " Seperti Dendam, Rindu Harus Dibayar Tuntas " is explored using a descriptive method. This method seeks to explore phrases, words, sentences, and discourses from the speech of characters and narrators that describe the attitude of intersectionality in the novel "Seperti Dendam, Rindu Harus Dibayar Tuntas" by Eka Kurniawan. Then, the implications of the suggestive analysis become educational values. This is so important because literary works should contain something that can be learned from. The results of the analysis are the discovery of three principles that are directly related to the theory of intersectionality in the novel "Like Revenge, Rindu Must Be Paid in Full", namely multiple identities, layered discrimination, and systemic injustice. The construction of a male image in the novel is based on these three principles. This implies that men are the ones who hold the control and power of life so that they are arbitrary towards the group that is considered weak, namely women. In addition, in the midst of the poor view of intersectionality in the novel “Seperti Dendam, Rindu Harus Dibayar Tuntas”, integrative negotiation is also presented to color the storyline. The construction and negotiation bring us to the conclusion of educational values, namely the competence and character of individuals personally and socially. The personal competence of individuals that can be suggested is accountable and loyal. Meanwhile, the social competence of individuals that is suggested is service-oriented and harmonious.

Abstract

Phonology as a linguistic study is used as a subject studied by students at universities. Phonology learning is often considered a difficult subject by some students. Therefore, lecturers as educators must be able to deliver the material well to achieve the expected learning. The biggest challenge in learning phonology is the differences in phonological systems in various languages. The use of learning media in teaching phonology can provide assistance and convenience for students. One learning media that can reach a wide range of references is media using Quick Response Codes (QR codes). QR codes can be utilized through various applications, one of which is the Canva application. This community service activity was carried out on September 23-25, 2025, with a total of 63 students taking the phonology course for the 2025/2026 academic year. The results of the activity showed that utilizing Canva learning media integrated with QR codes provides easy access for students to access various references, materials, and teaching materials for phonology studies. Therefore, such learning media is very necessary to make classes more active, meaningful, and provide experience and knowledge for students.
