Abstract

The purpose of this analysis is to expose the issue of brutality in novel Human Acts (2014) by Han Kang. It is also intended to find out how the implied author contributes in revealing the issue of brutality. This analysis is related to concept of Power Relation by Michel Foucault that is supported by the text and context-based interpretation. The result of the analysis shows that the brutality that is committed by military government in maintaining their domination done through two strategies: enforcing regulations and utilizing state apparatus.

Abstract

This article discusses leadership management and educational institutions under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek), the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag), and the Directorate General of Islamic Education (DIKTIS). The research aims to provide an overview of the roles and challenges faced by educational leaders, as well as strategies that can be implemented to enhance leadership effectiveness. The findings indicate that effective leadership is crucial for improving the quality of education in Indonesia.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis tiga cerpen dalam buku kumpulan cerpen Perempuan Bawang dan Lelaki Kayu karya Ragdi F. Daye. Ketiga cerpen tersebut berjudul “Kubah”, “Di Solok Aku Akan Mati Perlahan”, dan “Seekor Anjing yang Menangis”. Fokus penelitian diarahkan pada representasi mimikri dan ambivalensi masyarakat Minangkabau di kampung terhadap modernitas budaya kota. Metode yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif dengan menelaah simbol dan perilaku tokoh dalam cerpen. Hasil penelitan menunjukkan bahwa mimikri di dalam cerpen terlihat pada perilaku tokoh dalam meniru budaya kota yang modern dan kebarat-baratan serta perilaku penindasan yang dilakukan oleh tokoh yang memiliki kuasa. Simbol-simbol benda yang modern, mahal, dan buatan luar negeri juga merupakan bentuk mimikri yang muncul di dalam cerpen. Sementara itu ambivalensi muncul dalam perilaku tokoh yang gamang, rasa terasing, kerinduan pada adat, serta penolakan terhadap modernitas. Abstract This study analyzes three short stories in the short story collection Perempuan Bawang dan Lelaki Kayu by Ragdi F. Daye. The three short stories are entitled “Kubah”, “Di Solok Aku Akan Mati Perlahan”, and “Seekor Anjing yang Menangis”. The focus of the research is directed at the representation of mimicry and ambivalence of Minangkabau society in the village towards the modernity of urban culture. The method used is descriptive analysis by examining the symbols and behavior of the characters in the short stories. The results of the study show that mimicry in the short stories is seen in the behavior of the characters in imitating modern and westernized urban culture as well as oppressive behavior carried out by figures in power. Symbols of modern, expensive, and foreign-made objects are also forms of mimicry that appear in the short stories. Meanwhile, ambivalence appears in the behavior of the characters who are uncertain, a sense of alienation, longing for tradition, and rejection of modernity.
