Abstract

Teluk Bidara Beach is located in Seberang Pintasan Village, Dungun, Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia. Teluk Bidara Beach is one of the tourist destinations on the east coast of Malaysia which has stunning natural beauty. However, behind its beauty there is still a lot of plastic waste littering the beach area. This trash not only destroys the beauty of nature but also endangers the surrounding marine ecosystem. Therefore, a beach cleanup and environmental awareness education was carried out through direct education methods and waste sorting activities in collaboration with the Geng Plastik Ija (GPI) community. This activity succeeded in collecting around 171.65 kg of plastic waste and 29.29 kg of glass bottles. The impact of this activity is the increasing awareness of the community in protecting the beach environment which will make the beach clean, comfortable and increase the attractiveness of tourists to the beach so that economic growth in the area will increase.

Abstract

There is a growing acknowledgment of Halal tourism as a strategic sector for economic development in Muslim-majority countries. This research investigates how Islamic destination features, including worship amenities, halal compliance, and overall Islamic values, influence travelers’ choices to halal destinations in Indonesia, moderated by tourism image. Using a quantitative method, this study analyzed data with structural equation modeling in SmartPLS 3, based on responses from 1,000 tourists visiting Indonesia’s ten leading halal destinations. The results indicate that all three Islamic attributes significantly influence the positions of a tourist attraction, while only worship facilities directly affect visiting decisions. Destination image itself plays a mediating role in shaping tourist behavior. These results underline the importance of integrating Islamic values into tourism development strategies to enhance destination competitiveness. The study provides practical insights for government officials, including the standardization of halal certification in tourism facilities, the provision of adequate worship infrastructures at leading destinations, and the integration of halal tourism into national and digital marketing strategies. These analytical procedures enhance Indonesia’s role as a worldwide frontrunner in halal tourism. The results further emphasize halal tourism’s capacity to drive continuous local economic growth grounded in cultural and religious values.

Abstract

Listening comprehension is a crucial skill in EFL learning but often becomes a challenge due to limited vocabulary, varied accents, and fast speech. This research aimed to improve students’ listening comprehension by using the YouTube Easy English Channel as a digital learning medium. The study was conducted through Classroom Action Research (CAR) at SMP Negeri 9 Pontianak in the 2024/2025 academic year, involving 30 eighth-grade students. The research was carried out in two cycles consisting of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. Data were collected using observation checklists, field notes, and listening comprehension tests. The findings revealed that students’ listening ability improved significantly after the implementation of YouTube videos. In Cycle I, the average score was 63, with only 13.33% of students achieving the minimum mastery criterion (KKTP = 78). After refinement in Cycle II, the average score increased to 85.33 and all students passed. The results showed that the Easy English Channel effectively enhanced students’ skills in identifying main ideas, supporting details, moral values, and vocabulary. It can be concluded that integrating YouTube videos into the classroom provides authentic and engaging learning experiences that help students improve their listening comprehension.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of CAR, BOPO and FDR on ROA with Non-performing Financing as an Intervening Variable in Islamic Commercial Banks for the 2016-2020 period. Where this research uses quantitative research using regression analysis as data analysis. This study uses secondary data in the form of panels using the annual data of each Islamic commercial bank selected as the research sample in the 2016-2020 period. The data obtained were then analyzed using the Eviews 10 application tool. The results of this study indicate that the CAR, BOPO, FDR and NPF variables have a partial effect on ROA. The CAR, FDR and NPF variables have no significant negative effect on ROA, while the BOPO variable has a significant negative effect on ROA. And the NPF variable cannot mediate the effect of CAR, BOPO and FDR on ROA. And the results of the research on the ROA of Islamic Commercial Banks before the pandemic (2019) and during the pandemic (2020) using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test showed that there were significant differences.
