Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of applying eco-enzyme fertilizer made from banana peels (Musa paradisiaca L.) on the growth of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) and to determine the most effective concentration. The study employed an experimental method with a one-factor completely randomized design consisting of five treatment levels, namely P0 (0%), P1 (3%), P2 (3.5%), P3 (4%), and P4 (4.5%), with six replications, resulting in 30 experimental units. The observed parameters included the number of leaves, leaf area, and fresh weight of the plants at 42 days after sowing (DAS). The data were analyzed using ANOVA at a significance level of 5%, followed by Duncan’s test when significant differences were detected. The results showed that the application of banana peel-based eco-enzyme fertilizer significantly affected the growth of lettuce based on the number of leaves, leaf area, and fresh weight parameters (p < 0.05). The 4% concentration produced the best leaf area of 15.89 cm² and fresh weight of 8 g and was not significantly different from the 4.5% concentration in the number of leaves based on Duncan’s test. This study concludes that the application of banana peel-based eco-enzyme fertilizer at a concentration of 4% was the most effective treatment for increasing the vegetative growth of lettuce.
