Abstract

Ambon City, the capital of Maluku Province, is located on the coast of Ambon Island and in Ambon Bay. It has the potential for biodiversity and marine services to be developed in the tourism sector. This study aims to analyze the suitability of the coastal tourist area in the recreation category in Nusaniwe Beach District, Ambon City. Primary data collection is obtained directly at the research site through in situ observation, including observing the beach type, brightness, current speed, coastal slope, and beach width. Secondary data include the Bathymetry map literature and other supporting literature. The study results were analyzed using descriptive methods and an analysis of the fitness index of beach recreation category tourism with the addition of conformity parameters based on conditions at the study location. The results showed that the tourism conformity index (IKW) value of the recreational category is "Very Suitable" for three (3) of the five (5) research sites, namely Namalatu Beach and Santai Beach. In contrast, the tourist suitability index value is included in the "Suitable" category for two (2) research locations, namely Ronawiska Beach and Blanda Pool Beach.

Abstract

Tuna is one of the leading commodities in the fisheries sector in Maluku Province. The contribution of tuna production is mostly sourced from small-scale hand line tuna fishers scattered in several regions in Maluku including Parigi hamlet, Wahai Village, North Seram District, Central Maluku Regency. One of the problems faced by small-scale tuna fishers is the inefficient use of input variables such as investment, total costs (fixed costs and variable costs) and working hours to get outputs, namely production and income that can improve the welfare of fishermen. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of efficiency of the hand line tuna management business in Parigi Hamlet, Wahai Village. The research was conducted in June-August 2023. The data collection method used purposive sampling through observation and interviews (survey) with a total of 50 respondents of hand line tuna fishermen. Data were analyzed descriptively quantitatively by calculating efficiency using the DEA method. The results of the analysis as many as 34 DMUs have an efficiency value of more than 90%. Based on output oriented analysis for 16 DMUs with inefficient categories, it is necessary to increase profits and production to meet DMU improvement targets. While the results of input-oriented analysis, it is necessary to reduce investment, total costs and working hours. The results of DEA analysis show that 68% of fishing businesses are efficient and 32% are quite efficient.

Abstract

The Maluku Province region has the potential and is prone to high threats of natural disasters. The condition of the area consisting of small islands requires the community to have knowledge of coastal and marine disaster mitigation, so that it will increase awareness and minimize the impact when a disaster occurs. There are several stages in the implementation of PKM, including initial survey, coordination, problem identification, PKM implementation and counseling. Through this PKM, it has increased the understanding of the public (Angkasa high school students) to be more alert and alert to the potential vulnerability of coastal and marine disasters which can occur at any time

Abstract

The characteristics of mangrove ecosystems as public goods have great potential for degradation if they continue to experience pressure and the absence of sustainable management. The impact will be reduced economic value and require considerable rehabilitation costs to overcome other negative impacts that may occur in the community. This study was conducted to estimate the total economic value of mangrove ecosystems in Amahai Village, Central Maluku District. Respondents are 30 local communities selected by purposive sampling and 1 owner of the mangrove tourism by total sampling. Data analysed using quantitative methods. The results showed that the utilisation of mangrove resources by local communities consisted of fish, shrimp, crab, eco-tourism, research and education. The total economic value (TEV) with an area of 43.9 ha is IDR 5,899,162,139/year or IDR 134,377,270/ha/year, which consists of direct use value IDR 189,839,601/year, indirect use value IDR 5,619,753,331/year, option value IDR 21,025,247/year, existence value IDR 49,560,000/year, and bequest value IDR 18,983,960/year. This economic value indicates that the mangrove ecosystem plays an important and strategic role in the lives of local communities. Therefore, this value can be a source of information for the government as a policy holder in managing mangrove ecosystems in Amahai Village.
