Abstract

This study explores employees’ perceptions of management transparency at Liberia Village Office, Teluk Mengkudu Subdistrict, Serdang Bedagai Regency. Transparency is considered a key principle of good governance because it enhances accountability, public trust, and community participation. However, its implementation at the village level often faces challenges, including limited facilities, low public literacy, and less open bureaucratic traditions. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation, then analyzed thematically. The findings show that transparency has been implemented fairly well through information boards, village meetings, and direct community outreach. Employees perceive transparency as both a moral responsibility and a legal obligation, as well as an important strategy for strengthening public trust. They emphasize the importance of community participation in village deliberations, involvement in decision-making processes, and open communication among staff to support transparent governance. Despite these positive perceptions, several challenges remain. Many villagers are not accustomed to reading written reports, have limited understanding of financial terminology, and often require additional explanations regarding village programs and budgets. In addition, village staff face limitations in time, human resources, and capacity to conduct ongoing public outreach, reducing the effectiveness of information dissemination. The study concludes that transparency extends beyond simply providing information. Information must also be accessible, understandable, and accepted by the community.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the importance of human resources in the oil palm plantation sector, particularly harvesting employees who directly contribute to the company's productivity. The main problems identified were the high workload and varying levels of discipline that have the potential to reduce work productivity. The objective of this study was to analyze the effect of workload and discipline on the work productivity of harvesting employees at PTPN IV Regional 1 Tanah Raja Estate. The study employed a quantitative research approach with a population consisting of all 111 harvesting employees. The sample was determined using the Slovin formula with a 5% margin of error, resulting in 86 respondents. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using validity tests, reliability tests, multiple linear regression analysis, t-tests, F-tests, and the coefficient of determination. The results showed that workload had a significant effect on work productivity (t = 2.830; sig = 0.006 0.05), while discipline did not have a significant effect (t = 0.188; sig = 0.851 0.05). Simultaneously, workload and discipline had a significant effect on productivity (F = 4.632; sig = 0.012 0.05). The R² value of 0.100 indicates that these two variables explained only 10% of the variation in productivity, while the remaining 90% was influenced by other factors.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine how the village head contributes to improving employee job satisfaction at Makmur Village Office. The research employed a qualitative approach with data collection techniques including interviews, observations, and documentation. Key informants consisted of the Village Head, Village Secretary, Heads of Affairs, and village employees as the main subjects. Data analysis was conducted through reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing, focusing on leadership practices in communication, motivation, recognition, and employee development. Findings reveal that employee job satisfaction is primarily influenced not by physical facilities, but by supportive, guiding, and participatory leadership. The village head acts as a role model, communicator, motivator, and facilitator, encouraging employees to grow through training and work experience. Harmonious relationships, a spirit of cooperation, and a family-like atmosphere are the main factors strengthening job satisfaction among village staff. The study suggests gradually improving office facilities, maintaining participatory leadership styles, and expanding training opportunities for village employees. Furthermore, district and regency governments are expected to provide additional support in the form of training, mentoring, and facilities to enhance the quality of public services at the village level.

Abstract

This study highlights the importance of public service quality in the electricity sector provided by PT. PLN (Persero) ULP Sidikalang in meeting the needs of the Dairi Regency community. The main focus is on the technical competence and responsiveness of field staff in handling electrical disturbances and administrative services, as well as their influence on customer satisfaction. The research employs a quantitative approach with a causal associative design. The population consists of all PLN ULP Sidikalang customers, categorized as an unknown population. The sample size was determined using Cochran’s formula, resulting in 100 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using Likert-scale questionnaires and official company documentation. Analytical techniques included validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, t-test (partial), F-test (simultaneous), and coefficient of determination. Findings indicate that all research instruments are valid and reliable. Descriptive results show that technical competence, staff responsiveness, and customer satisfaction variables are predominantly in the “very good” category. Regression analysis reveals that technical competence and responsiveness have a positive and significant effect on customer satisfaction, both partially and simultaneously. Recommendations emphasize the need for regular technical training programs for field staff, optimization of response time through the PLN Mobile application, and strengthening communication ethics and empathy in customer service.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of service quality and the work ethic of teachers and staff on the satisfaction of parents/guardians of students at MIS Al Washliyah Rambung Besar Sei Rampah. The research population consisted of all parents/guardians whose children were enrolled in the madrasah during the academic year in which the study was conducted. The sample was selected purposively with a representative number of respondents. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression, with the t-test employed to examine partial effects, the F-test to assess simultaneous effects, and the coefficient of determination (R²) to measure the contribution of the independent variables to the dependent variable. The results revealed that service quality had a significant effect on parent satisfaction, with a regression coefficient of 0.042 (β = 0.050), while work ethic also had a significant effect, with a regression coefficient of 0.099 (β = 0.121). The multiple linear regression equation obtained was: Y = 39.291 + 0.042X₁ + 0.099X₂. The calculated F-value indicated a significant simultaneous effect, and the R² value showed that the contribution of both variables to parent satisfaction was relatively substantial.
