Abstract

(1) Background: It Is recommended that children consume adequate amount of vegetables. However, the problem still remained in every single family and community. Many studies to find out its causes have been done. Unfortunately, most of them were conducted on parents only. Little is known from children’s own perspective. Children’s perspective is important to help adults in choosing vegetables for the children. Thus, this study aimed to explore children’s opinion on vegetables consumption.; (2) Methods: Qualitative design was employed. Samples were selected using purposive technique sampling. Nine participants aged 6-12 years were interviewed in a focus group discussion. Data were analysed using qualitative data analysis by Miles and Huberman.; (3) Results: The FGD indicates three themes: why kids dislike vegetables, sort of vegetables which kids love to consume, reasons why kids want to eat vegetables.; (4) Conclusions: Health education and involving children in their own food preparation is promising way to improve vegetables intake. Further research is to develop a new form of health education and a program in which children are involved to choose and prepare their own vegetables.

Abstract

Sleep disturbances in school children result disrupted daytime function. The prevalence of sleep disturbances ranged from 25.1% - 44.8%. One of the causes of children's sleep disorders is the use of gadgets or smartphones. However, the research results convey things that are still pros and cons. This study aims to know the relationship between smartphone addiction and sleep disturbances in school-age children. This research is a quantitative research with a cross sectional study approach. The sampling technique in this study was consecutive sampling with a total sample of 165 children. Smartphone addiction data was measured using a modified Indonesian version of the smartphone addiction scale-short version (SAS-SV) questionnaire, and sleep disturbance data was measured using the sleep disturbance scale for children (SDSC) questionnaire. Data analysis used chi-square test with 95% confidence level. The result showed that 47.9% of children experienced addiction on average above, 31.5% of children had sleep disorders and chi-square test obtained p value of 0.001. The conclusion showed that there was significant relationship between smartphone addiction and sleep disorders in school-age children.

Abstract

Latar Belakang : Dismenore adalah nyeri pada abdomen bagian bawah yang sering dialami perempuan saat menstruasi, didapatkan rata-rata 50% perempuan disetiap negara mengalami dismenore dan Indonesia terdapat 55%. Salah satu cara untuk menggurangi dismenore adalah dengan melakukan relaksasi Benson. Terapi relaksasi Benson terbukti dapat menurunkan nyeri pasca bedah dan belum pernah diujikan untuk mengatasi nyeri dismenore.Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh relaksasi Benson terhadap skala nyeri dismenore pada mahasiswi keperawatan STIKES St. Elisabeth Semarang

Abstract

Needs and care for cerebral palsy children with drooling: an exploratory study Purpose: To explore the needs and care and expectations of parents of children with disabilities that improve saliva.Methods: A qualitative research with a phenomenology conducted at YPAC Semarang in September 2016. Data were collected using in-depth interviews with 6 maternal participants who were selected through purposive sampling and 1 doctor improving medical and 1 teacher as a triangulation participant. Data analysis was performed according to Collaizi's steps.Results: This study produced ten themes, namely: the need to deal with saliva; overcoming feelings of sadness, shame, brokenness, low self-esteem, hurt, sensitive, offended when the child is humiliated, can not bear, feelings of rejection, not accept, afraid and violate themselves; Overcoming the shame of children; Budget for pediatric therapy; strength, enthusiasm, gratitude, patience and endeavor; accepted by the community and considered by the government; Environmental modification; efforts to overcome saliva; poor understanding of mothers; expectation of the mother towards the foundation and the government regarding health services, education, and children's independence.Conclusions: Optimizing the fulfillment of needs and care for CP children who increase the saliva of class IV and V by overcoming saliva using a saliva absorber and prolonging treatment.

Abstract

Introduction: Preoperative is the initial stage of perioperative care which begins when the patient enters the reception room and ends when the patient is transferred to the operating table for surgery. At this stage, most people who undergo it will feel anxious, including pediatric patients. Pediatric patients often exhibit preoperative anxiety that influences intra- and postoperative nursing care. Mapping preoperative children's anxiety levels as a basis for determining preoperative treatment strategies for pediatric patients in the IBS Hospital reception room. Brayat Minulya needs to be done. Purpose: This study aims to identify the preoperative anxiety level of school-aged children in hospitals. Brayat Minulya Surakarta. Method: This research design is a descriptive study with a survey approach. Data collection was carried out using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) questionnaire. Sampling used total sampling with a sample size of 62 respondents who had adjusted to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis methods. Results: Description of anxiety in preoperative school age children with no anxiety as many as 5 respondents (8.06%), mild anxiety as many as 21 respondents (33.87%), moderate anxiety as many as 27 respondents (43.55%), severe anxiety as many as 9 respondents (14.52%), and no respondents had very severe anxiety/panic. Conclusion: The number of children with moderate levels of anxiety is the largest, namely 43.55%. Future research can measure the relationship between gender and surgical experience with children's preoperative anxiety levels and use the gold standard, the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory for Children (STAIC) to measure children's anxiety levels.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Latar Belakang: Cerebral Palsy adalah kelainan yang diakibatkan karena adanya cedera pada otak. Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) melaporkan bahwa prevalensi CP berkisar 1-4 per 1.000 kelahiran hidup. Penerimaan ibu terhadap masalah emosi dan perilaku anak CP merupakan proses dan tahapan emosi ibu dalam merawat anak CP. Ibu yang memiliki anak dengan CP awalnya memiliki tahap proses penerimaan yang berbeda, hingga sampai pada tahap acceptence. Hal ini menyebabkan penting bagi seorang ibu dalam mengatur emosi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui proses dan tahapan emosi ibu dalam merawat anak CP. Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi fenomenologi. Penelitian dilaksanakan di YPAC (Yayasan Penyandang Anak Cacat) Semarang. Partisipan sebanyak 3 ibu yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling yang memiliki anak CP dengan klasifikasi sedang dengan usia 0-18 tahun dan merawatnya sendiri. Pengambilan data dengan melakukan wawancara mendalam menggunakan pedoman wawancara. Hasil wawancara dibuat transkrip dan dianalisis menggunakan metode Colaizzi. Hasil: Hasil penelitian menghasilkan 4 tema yaitu 1) Proses pertama: Mengatur Emosi melalui Penerimaan, Sikap Ikhlas, dan Penguatan Keyakinan. 2) Proses kedua: Ibu mengutamakan ketenangan dalam menghadapi stres, kritik, dan emosi negatif. 3) Proses Ketiga: Mama meluapkan emosi pada anak yang tidak menurutinya dengan kata-kata “memasukkan anak kepanti asuhan, mendiamkan anak, dan memberikan es batu”. 4) Proses keempat: Rasa bersalah ibu dengan meminta maaf setalah memarahi anak. Simpulan: Pengalaman ibu yang dialami selama merawat anak CP memunculkan berbagai proses dan tahapan emosi ibu dalam merawat anak CP. ABSTRACT Introduction: Cerebral Palsy is a disorder caused by injury to the brain. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that the prevalence of CP ranges from 1-4 per 1,000 live births. The mother's acceptance of the emotional and behavioral problems of the child with CP is a process and stage of the mother's emotions in caring for the child with CP. Mothers who have children with CP initially have different stages of the acceptance process, until they reach the acceptance stage. This makes it important for a mother to regulate emotions. The aim of this research is to determine the emotional processes and stages of mothers in caring for children with CP. Method: This research is qualitative research with a phenomenological study approach. The research was carried out at YPAC (Foundation for Disabled Children) Semarang. Participants were 3 mothers selected using a purposive sampling technique who had moderately classified CP children aged 0-18 years and looked after them themselves. Data were collected by conducting in-depth interviews using interview guidelines. The results of the interviews were transcribed and analyzed using the Colaizzi method. Results: The research results produced 4 themes, namely 1) First process: Regulating Emotions through Acceptance, Sincere Attitude, and Strengthening Beliefs. 2) Second process: Mother prioritizes calm in dealing with stress, criticism and negative emotions. 3) Third Process: The mother expresses her emotions towards the child who does not comply with the words "put the child in an orphanage, quiet the child, and give him ice cubes." 4) Fourth process: The mother feels guilty by apologizing after scolding the child. Conclusion: Mothers' experiences while caring for children with CP give rise to various emotional processes and stages for mothers in caring for children with CP.

Abstract

Angka kesakitan anak di perkotaan relative lebih tinggi dibandingkan di pedesaan. Sekolah terlibat dalam penyelenggaraan kesehatan pada anak. Pencapaian angka partisipasi murni SD paling tinggi dibanding yang lain. Pemeriksaan fisik pada anak usia sekolah diperlukan untuk mendeteksi secara dini adanya masalah kesehatan pada anak. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memperoleh gambaran hasil pemeriksaan fisik anak usia sekolah. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain deskriptif observasional. Teknik sampling dalam penelitian ini adalah total sampling dengan sampel sejumlah 59 anak usia sekolah. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan pemeriksaan fisik secara lansung kepada responden. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sebagian besar responden kelas 3 SD (22%) dan berjenis kelamin laki-laki (59,3%). Hasil pemeriksaan antopometri didapatkan rata-rata berat badan (32,94 vs 28,71), tinggi badan (131, 94 vs 129,79), IMT (32,94 vs 28,71) dan lingkar lengan atas (20,72 vs 19,02) didapatkan anak laki-laki lebih besar daripada anak perempuan. Hasil pemeriksaan fisik menunjukkan adanya masalah kesehatan mata (ketajaman penglihatan (88,1%)), masalah kesehatan gigi dan mulut (gigi kotor (72,9%); gigi berlubang (62,7%); tonsil membesar (16,9%); masalah kebersihan diri (kuku kotor (50,8%)) serta cedera (ada bekas luka (39%)). Masalah yang sering terjadi pada anak usia sekolah adalah masalah kesehatan mata, gigi dan mulut, kebersihan diri dan cedera. Hasil penelitian ini menyarankan untuk dilakukan penelitian tentang faktor- faktor yang mempengaruhi masalah kesehatan mata gigi dan mulut, kebersihan diri dan cedera pada anak dan meningkatkan upaya promosi kesehatan kepada anak usia sekolah oleh tenaga kesehatan.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Latar belakang: Kekerasan verbal dapat berupa penghinaan, ejekan, atau kata-kata yang merendahkan anggota keluarga lainnya. Kekerasan ini seringkali dilakukan dalam situasi konflik atau ketika emosi sedang tidak terkontrol, pengaruh lingkungan atau kebiasaan buruk dalam keluarga. Seringkali orang tua meracuni jiwa anak dengan label negatif, jika apa yang dilakukan anak tidak sesuai dengan harapan orang tua. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan gambaran secara jelas tentang verbal abuse yang pernah dialami anak serta menganalisa verbal abuse yang pernah mereka alami. Metode: Penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologis yang bertempat di SDN 01 karangpandan dengan jumlah patrisipan 5 orang siswa kelas 5 dan 6. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan wawancara mendalam bertemu langsung dengan partisipan. Hasil wawancara dibuat transkrip dan dianalisis menggunakan model Colaizzi. Hasil: Karakteristik dalam penelitian ini adalah anak umur 11-12 tahun, baik laki-laki maupun perempuan pernah mengalami verbal abuse yang di lakukan orang tua. Hasil penelitian didapatkan tiga tema yaitu faktor ibu marah adalah ketika anak berperilaku tidak sesuai dengan harapan ibu, waktu dan frekuensi ibu yang marah akan diingat-ingat oleh anak dan ungkapan emosi ibu memunculkan respon bervariasi pada anak. Simpulan: Didapatkan data verbal abuse yang dialami anak-anak yang dilakukan oleh orangtua. Verbal abuse yang dialami dan respon yang dilakukan akan termemori dalam ingatan anak. Kata Kunci: Verbal abuse, Anak usia sekolah, Keluarga ABSTRACT Background: Verbal violence can take the form of insults, ridicule, or degrading words to other family members. This violence is often carried out in conflict situations or when emotions are uncontrolled, environmental influences or bad habits in the family. Often parents poison their children's souls with negative labels, if what the child does does not match the parents' expectations. This research aims to provide a clear picture of the verbal abuse that children have experienced and to analyze the verbal abuse they have experienced. Method: Qualitative research with a phenomenological approach which took place at SDN 01 Karangpandan with the number of participants being 5 students from grades 5 and 6. Data collection was carried out by in-depth interviews meeting directly with participants. The results of the interviews were transcribed and analyzed using the Colaizzi model. Results: The characteristics in this study were children aged 11-12 years, both boys and girls who had experienced verbal abuse by their parents. The results of the research revealed three themes, namely the mother's angry factor, namely when the child behaves not in accordance with the mother's expectations, the time and frequency of the mother being angry will be remembered by the child and the mother's emotional expressions give rise to varied responses in the child. Conclusion: Data was obtained on verbal abuse experienced by children by their parents. The verbal abuse experienced and the responses made will be remembered in the child's memory. Abstract

The limited owned by children with cerebral palsy make them unable to meet their needs and require assistance of others. The cerebral palsy is very dependent on parents especially mother to meet the daily needs and therefore it will affect the mother’s level of stress. The purpose of this study was to identify the resilience of working mother with cerebral palsy children. This research is quantitative research with a descriptive research design. The sampling technique used in this research was total sampling with the inclusion criteria being working mothers who had children with mild to moderate cerebral palsy. The exclusion criteria were working mothers who were sick and working mothers who cancelled the study. The sample used was 50 working mothers with cerebral palsy children. The research results showed that most of the respondents had a moderate level of resilience was 60% (n=30). Further study on the correlation between those factors and working mother’s resilience are highly recommended. It is suggested that school establish some programs to shape working mother’s high resilience.

Abstract

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact in various fields. Parents have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, especially single mothers. The challenge for single mothers who have children aged 6-12 years during the COVID-19 pandemic is accompanying children to study at home. Single mothers who are not used to accompanying children to study will cause a burden. The pressure experienced cannot be tolerated, because single mothers must rise in order to survive and adapt. Previous studies have shown a very good picture of the resilience of a single mother because it reaches a stage that corresponds to the aspect of resilience. Other studies have found that parents who accompany school children at home during the COVID-19 pandemic have low resilience. However, a study on single mothers with low economic levels who have children aged 6-12 years during the COVID-19 pandemic has never been done. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the resilience of single mothers with low economic levels who have children aged 6-12 years during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: This research is qualitative research with a phenomenological study approach. The research location is in a district in city of Salatiga, Indonesia. Participants were five single mothers who were selected using a purposive sampling technique with inclusion criteria having children aged 6-12 years with low economic levels during the COVID-19 pandemic. Data is collected by conducting in-depth interviews. The data were analyzed using the Colaizzi method. Results: The results of the research resulted in six themes, namely 1) Mother received support from siblings and biological family; 2) Mother had to work hard to make a living; 3) Relieved in accepting the situation; 4) Mother's independence to live life; 5) Mother's patience to control anger; 6) Mother came, prayed and thanked God Conclusions: Single mothers who have children with low economic levels aged 6-12 years had resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic.
