Abstract

Fuel Oil Purifier is a device used to separate dirt and water from fuel (fuel oil) using centrifugal force. Optimal Fuel Oil Purifier performance to support the smooth operation of the ship and ensure clean fuel from water and dirt. On the MV. LBN 15 has a Fuel Oil Purifier to help the Fuel Oil purification process. The purpose of the study is to discuss the factors that cause the suboptimal performance of the Fuel Oil Purifier, and how to care for the Fuel Oil Purifier. In this case, the author uses a qualitative method, with data collection through direct observation, interviews with machine officers, and documentation, to find problems that occur and how to overcome them. The results of this study showed a decrease in performance caused by damage to the o-ring in the pilot valve, the presence of mud deposits in the disc and bowl, and the lack of implementation of the Plan Maintenance System (PMS). This problem causes the inability to carry out the blow process, resulting in overflow to the sludge tank. Maintenance efforts include cleaning and replacing components, checking inlet and outlet temperatures, and adjusting operating pressure to keep it within normal limits. The maintenance is proven to be able to restore performance to optimal condition, as demonstrated by the stability of the operating pressure and temperature and the absence of alarms or disturbances during operation.
